I just watched the fight again between Diaz and Malignaggi. I have the same score I had before 115-113 for Paulie, but after a certain point Diaz looked flat out horrible. He looked like the Juan Diaz that lost to Nate Campbell except for in the 12th. round where Diaz came in strong. Either way Diaz got the decision. Kellerman made a comment before the fight that everything was stacked in his favor to win the fight (ring size, town fight was held, feather fisted opponent, the judges) so he better win (which he did technically) but most people felt he lost at least from what I'm reading on these boards. I'd like to hear from everyone but I'd personally like to hear from those who thought Diaz won. What are your opinions on why you thought he won the fight Secondly, what is your impression of Juan as a fighter. Do you see him as a elite fighter, or a guy who is wearing down fast etc.

> Damn joe what the hell has Juan Diaz done to you? > Valero will murder this kid and make him irrelevant in a hurry. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Edwin Valero is still untested and had been fighting no one, except tomato cans. I saw a video footage of Valero's 2006 fight against a nobody named Vicente Mosquera. Even though he won by tko in the 10th round, he wasn't impressive at all. Juan Diaz could now start with his new responsibility as gate-keeper and test Valero whether he's just a mere pretender...

Im not sure how dedicated Guzman is to the sport, and I havent seen him fight in a while but the Guzman that I use to like would embarrass Juan Diaz. Thats not a smart match up for Diaz.

I'd like to see Juan Diaz vs Joan Guzman next. One slick fighter right after the next. If he losses, he losses but it would be fun to watch and Guzman aint a KO puncher either.

I have to agree with you Luke, I'm not really crazy about Diaz and never have been because of how often he gets hit and doesn't have much power so he's never really impressed me but a fight with Marquez would just be a repeat of the first fight with Diaz getting knocked out. If Mayweather handles Marquez well and we see some sort of decline in Marquez than maybe Diaz can make it a bit more competitive but I don't see that happening regardless. If Marquez does well against Mayweather than a rematch with Diaz would probably end quicker than the original bout because Mayweather and Diaz aren't even close to the same class of fighter.

> * > > Diaz comes to fight. His fights are HUGELY > entertaining with the right opponent. > > Just don't match him against a runner who can't draw Oh so you are a fan of one dimensional fighters. If they just come forward and get their head banged in and have no other skill sets to bring the table. I get it now. You dont like game plans and boxers going in and out and creating space. I get it now. You dont like boxing. I actually like Diaz but if he knew how to truly box he would of realized he looked like crap in the later rounds. If he knew how to box he would of did a better job cutting off the ring (that his team picked for his benefit) If he knew how to box he would of threw his jab more and try to follow up with combos instead of leading with one punch and not landing All reasons why he lost. You are not a boxing fan. Go watch wrestling or something.

> Q-So what is your take now on Juan Diaz? > > > A- juan dimensional > > -- > Edited by NightmarishWar at 08/28/2009 10:59 PM PDT lol. thats pretty much it. one dimensional. That why I felt Marquez would beat Diaz in their first fight because I felt Marquez brought so much more to the table in his skill set. Diaz can only fight one way. If he got another shot at Marquez I feel he would still lose. I think Diaz should stay at 135lbs and make the most of it of course until he gets his megafight or two.

Thanks to paid off judges he'll get a couple real nice paydays being punching bags and easy wins for the loser of the Mayweather-Marquez or Pac-Man Cotto fight. Or Mosely will toy with him for 12 rounds if he can't get a fight with any of the above mentioned 4. Not sure who would pay to watch Hatton rip him apart after what Hatton did to Paulie.
