Fightbeat has just received information that 2008 Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee Larry Holmes was involved in a heated argument with Ed Brophy of the Boxing Hall of Fame. That is really sad but I guess it speaks alot about his life during his career in boxing.

A sign of the times for Larry Holmes
Floyd Mayweather, the elusive and talented fighter of this generation hangs up his gloves (although it is the third time he has done so), and Larry Holmes, a Hall of Fame fighter if ever there were one, falls out with the owner of the Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York State, on the eve of his induction, and walks out.
According to FightBeat.com, Holmes was involved in a heated argument with Ed Brophy of the Boxing Hall of Fame.
Holmes was then asked to leave the premises and not to return for the induction ceremonies. The issue appears to have arisen when Holmes set up his own table to sign autographs.
Ed Brophy, the executive director of the Boxing Hall of Fame, normally asks the fighters to sign autographs for the Hall to raise funds to support the place. Holmes initially complied, yet after signing a few gloves, the former world heavyweight champions is supposedly to have said "to hell with this" and refused to sign any more.
Brophy then expelled Holmes from the premises. What would have left one big hole in the Hall with Holmes' departure was later redressed, according to Carlos Guzman, of FightBeat.com, when Holmes returned.

Holmes has always seemed a bit surly to me so this doesn't come as a surprise, really. What a shame though on the eve of his induction.
