Manny Pacquiao Doesnt Impress Me At All," Says Miguel Cotto

[Replies: 490]
The Puerto Rican news website elnuevodia.com is reporting today, that one of its country's most recently famous boxing superstars, Miguel Angel Cotto, has spoken out in an interview.

Cotto, it claims, is not concerned in the least regarding the 145-pound catch weight that has reportedly been agreed upon by both boxing camps as well as Top Rank Promoter Bob Arum.

This is only the beginning of what will no doubt be a hype filled four months leading up to a?soon to be announced?welterweight super-fight between the Puerto Rican born Cotto and Filipino No.1 pound for pound sensation Manny Pacquiao.

"Its no concern of mine whether it is 145 pounds, or not," said Cotto.

"That is the usual weight that we cut down to for the weigh in, and in the ring?on fight night?I will go up eight to ten pounds, so actually during the fight I will weigh around 155," stated Cotto.

Cotto also made statements regarding Pacquiao's performances in his last three fights, where he achieved victories over David Diaz, De La Hoya, and Ricky Hatton in three different divisions.

"I'm not impressed at all by him and his so-called speed and power, he has two arms, and a head and so do I," said Cotto, who after his fights with Antonio Margarito and Joshua Clottey is fast becoming the blood-and-guts-throw-back-style warrior that the sport is in desperate need of.

When asked about this great opportunity for him?with a win over Pacquiao?to become the top boxer on the worlds elite pound for pound stage, the modest Cotto simply shrugged it off by saying:

Opportunity's in life arrive when they arrive, we deal with them when they get here," he said.

To sum it up, the Puerto Rican slugger also said Tuesday: "we are awaiting confirmation of the fight, and when it arrives we will be very seriously committed to putting on the greatest fight possible for the fans, Thank you.

People need to watch Clottey/cotto fight to see that margarito beatdown is in the past for cotto. He could've quit or taken easy way out after cut and took it 12 rds against a boxer that other welterweights avoid. Ask mosley, floyd or pacman to fight Clottey....yea right.

Actually that statement had been told before Pacman fought Diaz, Oscar and Hatton but got the same similar results.

Nice, I'm not totally impressed with Pacquiao's resume as of late. He beat guys that were hittable, old and slow.

Pacquiao played the bongos on an old ODLH. The only thing going for Oscar in that fight, was his size difference. He fought a shot DLH.

David Diaz was too slow and hittable. His claim to fame, beating a shot Morales.

Then, he beat face first Hatton, who can't take a punch. I remembered telling a Filipino, co-worker, that Hatton can't take a punch. Sure enough, the fight ended in the 2nd.

Obsolutely, Pacquiao is coming in with an aura of invincibility, that will play into Cotto's gameplan. Pacquiao is coming into this fight, possibly a 3-1 favorite.

I foresee it's Pacman by TKO on the 9th round.
Just a prediction. You're free to make your own...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cotto had beaten a fast fighter in Paulie Malignaggi.
But it wasn't impressive that Cotto couldn't get rid of an injured Malignaggi, who was able to make it to the end of the 12th round.
The big difference between Pacman and Malignaggi is that Pacman have more power in his punches... :O
