gottta listen to head next time. Marquez try to box in this fight and it worked for a while because he banked in some early rounds but he faded down the stretch. Vasquez punches can do that to a fighter. Great, Great overall fight.

I want to pick Rafy...he is one of my favorites, and i think he'll have an easier time landing than Vazquez. But, i also think that when Israel lands, he'll have more impact than Rafy. I think he'll make his way in and do that leading with the right hand, upstairs and downstairs, and following it with the left hook. Once the hook lands, the dynamic of the fight will change and swing to him.

Marquez wins, no doubt in my mind.

Actually there are a few doubts, but if he does what he can do, which is box unleash his right hand and keep Vazquez from getting on the inside he can win. Like I've said before, he Marquez would learn to clinch every once in a while this would be a much easier fight for him.

One of the reasons why I don't think Vazquez will win is b/c you're asking this guy to go inside, more than likely absorbe a few right hands on the way in, then start tradig leather and hope that you can withstand more than the other guy. He did it before, but I don't think he'll be able to do it again.

Man I've been flippin back and forth about this fight the past week. I originally felt Vasquez will win but I'm going with Marquez. I think thats one of those heart over head decisions I'm making.

I don't know if anyone caught Al Berstein on Jim ROme's show on ESPN but he was saying Vasquez is just naturally more powerful at that weight than Marquez. If Marquez fights the same grueling slugfest it could be a disadvantage and I agree.

I know Marquez is no slouch either and pretty powerful himself but I did notice in the second fight that Vasquez seemed to have more zip.

Luke, given the tangibles in their previous fights, this fight could be drastically different.

True but I thought the second fight was stopped prematurely. Marquez was still throwing but the ref didn't give him time to get the cobwebbs out.

Going on a limb but Marquez wins a violent decision. No stoppage in this one.

That's about summarizes this great matchup. Will Marquez's chin hold up? Will Vasquez's skin withstand the sharpshooters shots? Who will grow old overnight after several tough fights and the two previous brutal battles?

Marquez has the fight going his way using his solid jab and skills that has Vasquez a bit frustrated for the first half the fight or so. Finally Vasquez gets Marquez to come out of it with his steady pressure. Then the hooking battle begins. It won't take too long for Vasquez to do solid damage with his bigger punches putting Marquez on his ass a few times, as his face is all cut up and swollen yet again. Vasquez by tko in 9. Great fight once again!

Agree. I'm picking Vazquez like most people. But, I believe Marquez will be very dangerous. This fight may be the one that he will be remembered for if he wins, in the same way Vasquez is remembered for the second fight.

I did not see Marquez really coming on in that first fight. I saw a fighter who was getting busted to hell by his foe's jab, repeatedly stunned by power shots, & having ISOLATED moments where he'd land a hefty power shot.
In my opinion, the beating he was taking was getting WORSE, when he & his corner elected to not continue. I came away from that fight believing Vazquez had been hammered by a superior foe, though he had moments where he COULD have turned the tide.

The second fight was a whole diifferent ballgame. Vazquez was not the sitting (well, walking in) duck he was in the first fight. He seemed much sturdier & stronger than Marquez in the rematch. Everything he touched Marquez with seemed to bother/hurt Marquez, while Marquez never stunned him like he did numerous times in that first fight.

You have to believe the more recent fight told the story of these two, more than the first. That's why most people are picking Vazquez.
