Mayweather has accomplished so many things in Boxing. Why the Heck should he lower his standards to fight a slow, short armed, average fighter. He is above and beyond the level of Cotto. When it becomes all about the money for a fighter, fights like this wont take place. The money that Mayweather would make for this fight is equivalent to what he can make off of showing up to a a Major function or simply sitting at home. By the way it would be a a complete and utter mismatch. Cotto's Chin is not the greatest and you better believe that Mayweather will be popping Cotto's Chin more than Cotto has ever experienced. Most likely Mayweather will knock him out. Puerto Rico has not had a High Profile fighter since Tito, so anybody that is semi-decent is going to be over hyped. Look at white people with Kelly Pavlik, i mean come on man!!!. If Kelly is the future of boxing , then what about the many Latino and Black fighters that are way more talented than Pavlik. Please, there is no great white hype, cut the drama out. Take it down a notch, Pavlik and Cotto are "GOOD" fighters not the best, or anything near it.

I am starting to think every one in the world is obsessed with Mayweather. He is ducking Cotto the same way they claimed he ducked Ricky Hatton. By the way Hatton is not smaller. Mayweather and Hatton started their careers at roughly the same time, and Hatton has been a career 140 lb fighter and Mayweather started his career at 130. Mayweather walks around at 150 and could probaly still make lightweight comfortably. Now, to the topic at hand if you were going to make 30M for one fight and about 15 or 20 for another which would you take. I like every other boxing fan on the planet want to see Mayweather-Cotto, but but its not going to happend in the near future so stop obsessing over it. Mayweather will do just like he did when he stepped up to welterweight to fight Judah and eventually got back to Hatton. Don't worry about it, He is going to fight Cotto.

:::::heres what i dont get....if floyd's as big of a commodity as he claims to be, and people will pay to watch him refight an old ODLH who has lost 3 of his last 6, then why would a fight against a top 10 p4p fighter be hard to market? everyone who knows boxing would buy it, and if floyd is as famous as he thinks, he should be able to sell the fight:::::

DUH....

Oscar De La Hoya by himself out sells Mayweather and Cotto combined Einstein...

Yes I WISH Cotto and Mayweather hooked up, but Oscar's power and money and Floyd's greed are dictating this bout...

I respect it but Cotto takes on a lot facing Antonio Margarito. If he wins, he won't have to try too hard to 'build' interest in a Mayweather fight... Miguel Cotto will be the REAL WWW Champion if he beats Antonio Margarito.

That's exactly right. No one hand picks their opponents better than The Pretty One.

ofcourse Mayweather is ducking Cotto .... After he beat Ricky Hatton (who was the smaller man and not in his league) he was asked would u fight Cotto .... he did not say Yes or No .. but he said " i want to retire from boxing, i dont want boxing to retire me" He knows Cotto has power and skill .. and i know he shit his pants when he saw Cotto outboxing Mosley the first few rounds of there bout. Mayweather is a smart man .... he knows he can get more money Fighting a washed up De La Hoya then possibly lossing or even worse losing by TKO to a powerful Miguel Cotto who is in his prime.

yes mayweather is avoiding a cotto fight.he should be ducking him as i belive the tough cotto would just abuse the agile boxing of maweather.this fight must happen then mayweather could be the fighter he already thinks he is GREAT?

He's not quite a bum. Bums are people that I could knock out. Margarito and I might fight to a Draw though.
