Is anybody out there a big Movie fan? I'm a huge movie fan, besides boxing and basketball that's another of my big past times. I love this time of the year b/c this is the time when some big movies start coming out. I just recently watched that film 300 and I must say if there was ever a Man's movie that was it. I mean it was nothing but action, no real acting just plenty of good fighting sequences and cool graphics. The film was a bit better than I expected it to be, but not quite as good as everyone says it is.

I have brought this up before only to have it fall on deaf ears. I watched a manny pac thread turn into a discussion about philipino hookers and child sex in the philippines and nothing happen only to have a post of mine be erased because I used the word "shart". It's mind-numbing. I'm sorry, you must have posted this after I was gone for the day. I see the thread in question has been taken care of, though.

This film is what it is, a much bigger version of The Day After Tomorrow. If you enjoyed that, you'll love this one b/c it's a bit better. If you hated The Day After tomorrow odds are you'll hate this film. I thought the first hour or so of the film was pretty good, it had a good mixture of action and funny scenes. For me where the film took a down turn was when it started to look for a happy ending. Forget about all the other suff, if 1, just 1 Supervolcano goes off, forget it, there's no happy ending. Other than that crazy unrealistic ending it was a watchable film.

Well his early work is often considered "edgy" and "controversial" and this project fits the bill. And I'm reluctant to label his new project as a shameless knockoff without seeing it first. Who knows? It may turn out to be superior to the original....or a worthy reinterpretation of Ferrara's initial vision.

> Really? Are you at all familiar with his early work? Yeah, like Aguirre Wrath of God, Nosferatu, Cobra Verde........that's what I have seen. I know recently he did that documentary, Grizzly Man I think it was called. A shameless knock off of an early 90s cult hit isn't really in the same vein as those......

The original clocked in at 123 minutes....while this sequel has been condensed to 112 minutes. Do you think that gives the original an advantage?

Considering Cage's performance in Leaving Las Vegas, he'll probably do a decent job with the character, but WTF? Why f*ck with the original even if only by title. IMO, this should not be a title film. It should be fought in theaters of it's own accord... AT A CATCH WEIGHT.

A "Bad Lieutenant" sequel with Nicholas Cage? Wow, they really want to shit all over the original, huh?

Any fans of the film Bad Lieutenant? I often list it as one of my favorite films, and Harvey Keitel's performance in it is pretty extraordinary, imo. Nicolas Cage is starring in a new film called, Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. Here's an excerpt about it: Directed by Werner Herzog, the film stars Cage as a New Orleans police detective traipsing about post-Katrina New Orleans, snorting, popping and smoking whatever drugs he can while threatening witnesses in pursuit of savage killers. The film is not an outright remake of 1992's "Bad Lieutenant" starring Harvey Keitel, but rather Herzog and Cage's take on the idea of a cop without conscience, doing his job in a sometimes hallucinatory fog. "While we were maneuvering the film into some very stark, dark, abysmal humor, black humor, I always sensed it would work, because sometimes I would see Nicolas Cage at arm's length from me in front of the camera... and I was exploding in laughter," Herzog said, adding that he would gag himself with a handkerchief to keep from disrupting the scene. "He notices how I'm gagged and turning purple, and he adds something else, and the moment that we call 'cut,' I'm exploding in laughter. I knew it would come across to an audience in a similar way."

I'm hoping that I'll have a chance to watch G.I. Joe Rise of the Cobra before the fight tonight.
