PAUL WILLIAMS MOVING TO MIDDLEWEIGHT TO FACE ANDY KOLLE There is an old axiom in boxing: "Don't talk the talk if you can't walk the walk." On Thursday, September 25, WBO Welterweight Champion Paul "The Punisher" Williams (34-1, 25 KOs) will back up his claim of accepting every conceivable challenge between 147 pounds and 168 pounds, when he moves up to the middleweight division (160 pounds) to take on tough, hard-hitting middleweight, Andy Kolle (17-1, 12 KOs), in a non-title 10-round bout at the Soboba Casino in San Jacinto, California. The fight will air live on VERSUS, a national sports network in more than 73 million homes at 9 P.M. ET. http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content3351.html -- WWW.FIGHTHYPE.COM A FIGHT IS A FIGHT

We had a debate about Williams staying busy a couple weeks back. You were saying he should go after Tony and I was saying he should go after a belt at JrMW. We were on the same page for about a half second. At least we're making progress.

There was an article on Maxboxing a few months back talking about how Arum was going all in when it came to Top Rank. He was putting Cotto against Margarito. Pav vs Bhop and Manny vs Oscar. Those are all of his main attractions and they could all fall one after the other, unless Manny pulls an upset it seems that's what's going to happen. I don't think he can be that careful with Margarito b/c Margarito is not a big draw, so he has to put him in tough to sell the fights. That's the reason they were talking about a Clottey rematch or a possible Mosley fight. -- "The next time you see Joan Guzman ? well, never mind. You may never see him again."

Its unfortunate because with Kelly Pavlik losing to B-Hop. I could see Bob Arum being real careful with Antonio Margarito which makes a Margarito/Williams fight even less of a possibility.

Tszyunami I too admire Peedub's willingness to fight anyone at anytime and any where. If the brotha' puts his mind and hard work to it, he can possibly lock down 147 thru 154. He's that talented. -- DisgruntledBoxingFan -- Edited by DisgruntledBoxingFan at 10/21/2008 11:06 PM PDT

I'd much rather PeeDub fight Vernon instead of Verno, but one has to admire PeeDub's willingness to fight virtually anyone at any weight. My instinct is to say that PeeDub knocksout Verno by the middle rounds, but in thinking back, I can't remember anyone knocking Verno out, let alone thoroughly dominating him. Perhaps Kassim Ouma the first time they fought, but still it seems to me that Verno will be too small, too slow and won't be able to handle PeeDub's power for long. I hope he proves me wrong however.

The best memory I have of him is putting Quartey on his butt. It's a good stay busy fight for Williams. He needs plenty of these type of fights. I can't remember who said this, but as long as you keep winning you can't keep getting ignored. He just has to win and avoid Quintana like moments. -- "The next time you see Joan Guzman ? well, never mind. You may never see him again."

Verno is pretty good for about 6 rounds. But against Ouma the second time, he was just outworked and almost ready to go from some good body shots. At this point he pretty much only has the title very briefly. -- Edited by bombastic1 at 10/21/2008 6:19 AM PDT

GG.... Verno throws well with both hands.....but I see him having trouble keeping up with PW. PW's size & output will keep Verno at bay. PW's recent KO surge ends here, however. I don't think he'll stop Verno....but he'll beat him convincingly.

Absolutely Jabs... I failed to acknowledge that initially. How do you see this bout going ? I haven't seen enough of Phillips, to give a solid opinion....have to find some footage of him somewhere. -- "After coming into contact with a religious man I always feel I must wash my hands" - Friedrich Nietzsche.

Gotta give some credit to VERNO PHILLIPS. This guy is still a tough test, despite spanning two decades of boxing at a high level.
