Dude....Froch was doing that sh*t for 12 rounds, w/ ZERO penalties. I can't even compare the two. That one chopping/sledge hammer blow, sealed it for me....Whether it would've been perceived as "classless" or not, I'd have taken those gloves off and knocked his f*cking teeth out, post fight. Oh - BTW - I never watched that Peter - Wlad fight.

Well said, Six. I had a round or two more for Direll, but agree that some of those rabbit punches were self-inflicted to some extent. The bad ones DEFINITELY should have been penalized and... IMMEDIATELY.

Taylor/Abraham was a good competitive bout, I had it about even heading into the 12th. That KO was unexpected and caught me off guard......... I hope Taylor the best. I think Taylor should drop out of this tourney and let Green come in to replace him........ As for the Dirrell/Froch bout, I scored the bout 7 rounds to 5 for Dirrell, and with the point deduction, a one-point contest............ Froch should have been deducted 2 points; 1 for hitting after the break, and 1 for rabbit punching. I don't blame Froch for some of the rabbit punches, as Dirrell turned his head; but there were too many rabbit punches that had nothing to do with Dirrell; but just Froch being a dirty fighter. And the ref for Froch/Dirrell needs to be fired.......... don't wanna see that moron in boxing ever again.

Looking at the IBO top 100 (a good, if obscure reference source) - http://www.iboboxing.com/rankings/168.html - it seems to me that they did a pretty good job of including a mix of the best fighters (usually europeans in this division, I'm afraid) and the best America has to offer. Remember, Showtime is mainly interested in providing content for American audiences, so you know they were looking at having at least half the field be american. They included the top 3 and had to go down to spots 13 & 15 to find some decent American counterweights. They rounded out the field with A-Ham, who is moving up from 160, where he is #2. That's pretty freakin' good. Yes, Allan Green got leap-frogged in favor of the 'Andres,' but I can't really make a big deal about it, given the difficulty to make fights between the best nowadays. Out of the fighters on the list that got left out, though, who really could say that they definitely belong in the tourney? Let's say they had the choice of including Bute, Bika, Andrade, Balzsay, Stieglitz, Inkin or Green? Bute or Andrade would have worked, but they were already planning a rematch on HBO, so wasn't gonna happen (it would have been cool to have a mexican/american in the mix, too). Bika? No way. Too much risk, too little reward - now that guy is rough. He is the Cameroonian Carl Froch. And they weren't gonna put in the three more europeans, I don't think, for fear of making it a euro-sausage-fest. So that leaves Green. It probably would have been best to include him from the beginning. But who would you replace? Taylor? If dinero is what drives the decisions, then it would be foolish to replace Taylor, a bona fide draw, and arguably the biggest name in the tourney, american or otherwise. That leaves the 'Andres.' I believe the reason the Andres won out is because they were undefeated and they had that Olympic medal pedigree. And, if you think about it, Green's lone loss came by way of Miranda, who has 3 losses courtesy of 2 of the Super-6 participants - A-Ham (twice) and Dre-Dub (once). Using the 'A beats B, B beats C, so A beats C' heuristic, then Green < Miranda < Ward & Abraham. So, if Miranda wasn't in, then Green definitely wasn't going to be included. That may all change now that Jermain Taylor managed to get himself knocked into next week.

I hope Taylor will be alright. Has a bad concussion from the punch and then smashing his head on the canvas didn't help either.

The ref should have taken a point from Froch, and also warned Dirrell for the bending over bit. Dangerous on both parts. Froch employed many dirty tactics in that fight...choke holds, hitting during the break, behind the head in the clinch, etc. Dirrell deserved to have a point taken for the holding...but Froch deserved to have a point (or more) taken as well. The ref was unable to establish any order in that bout.

Hear that... I was just about the most inept job I've seen, but I would have to say that even a top-shelf ref had his hands full last night. That fight was a mess.
