Anyone else think HBO is crazy for not making a deal with Zuffa (UFC)??

I'm guessing right about now HBO is seriously regretting not getting a deal done with the UFC.

After tonight...

MMA > Boxing (already is imo)

November will be even worse for boxing when Pacman and Cotto meet on the same night as UFC 105, which will be free on Spike.

And whenever Pacman and PBF fight, they will counterprogam with Brock Lesnar and a UFC 100 type card (stacked).

I am huge MMA fan. But I don't like Dana White (UFC). I think those fighters should be paid as well as boxers.

Maybe if HBO had done a deal with the UFC, they could have been able to keep boxing safe a little longer.

Time to "face the pain" as it were.

I enjoyed the JMM/Floyd bout more than any of the UFC fights that night. That being said, Rocky Juarez should not be on TV again, Crocop can not be a co-main event ever again on the UFC, and Franklin is finished as an elite fighter.

UFC will not have the same problems as boxing, and I could list many reasons why......... here are some: Exposure, Belts/Champions, fans get to see the best vs the best, money is rarely a problem, MMA fans are much more forgiving, UFC owns 90% of the best MMA fighters in their organization, etc etc.............

This thread is....pointless. Someone who knows nothing about Boxing once to make a thread concerning both? As far as I'm concern only fans of both can truly evaluate them. I for 1 am a fan of both. I've been gone from the Boxing Scene because I've been busy and there hasn't been anything "New" To talk about. I did watch all of UFC 103 and Mayweather Marquez. I will admit that I found the fights themselves as far as entertaining goes Boxing was a C+ and UFC 103 was a B+ overall. So I was more entertained by what took place on UFC 103 I won't lie. However. I Ordered Boxing and chose to simply watch UFC 103 online. Why? Because Boxing is still the purer sport IMO. The difference between Boxing and MMA from where I stand is this. When Boxing has great fights they are truly great and not just wild kicking and waving your arms without being able to barely stand and breath after just 5 minutes. However When Boxing has Terrible fights....they are truly terrible....you can't even see the Ring girls anymore so your just forced to sit there...Where as in MMA you can see the Ring girls....I guess that's really what It comes down to. That and the Fact that I having a bit of Wrestling experience actually understand it and can follow it. All in all I'm happy about the fights I saw from both. I just think that Boxing has got so big and so Expanded that it's collapsing on itself. The Creator of this thread touched on it and it's true. Part of the Reason why Boxing fights where better back in the day is because the fighters where hungrier and were being payed very little so they really desperately needed to win. I am curious as to rather UFC or other MMA organizations will have the same problem as the Business grows bigger.

Except for the "strikers" MMA is like ancient Sparta and we all know what went on back there.

But.....you said that the little featherweight was going to knock out the big guy.

Why did you say that again?

You're so obssessed with Mayweather...that you'd bring his name up, into an MMA discussion.......unreal.

You see the Floyd effect? His lopsided win against a very beatable opponent got people talking about associating MMA with HBO. If it woulda been a competitive fight maybe this blasphemos talk wouldn't be happening right now. I'll you tell something right now, there aint gonna be none of this MMA sh*t being talked about after the Pac vs Cotto fight.

UFC wanted creative control - that's why HBO turned them down. Given HBO's production compared with Zuffa - I'd take HBO.

I personally am a hardcore MMA fan & I want to watch UFC 105. But if they are on the same day, I am watching the Pacman vs Cotto fight. I don't feel as if I should have to choose who I can & can't watch. I'll just catch it on DVR at a friends house after the fight. I am boycotting Mayweather until he fights Pacman, Mosley or Cotto. Pacman & Cotto are both real fighters, they don't care if they win or lose & will put it on the line to test themselves with the best. That is greatness.

UFC future looks way better than boxing's future but like the article I wrote & posted on here, MMA vs Boxing: The truth. It isn't because one sport is better than the other, it is the ammount of exposure that one sport is getting over the other. I think that Pacman vs Cotto will blow out UFC 105 if they are on the same day, but the future boxers that weren't exposed to the world before UFC 30 & before the Ultimate Fighter Season 1 started, they aren't outselling UFC. Big Name Boxers need to make their way back to cable & no cable channels for the world to discover them.

F*ck the UFC!!! They can have spiketv, it really won't matter. Pac vs Cotto will destroy UFC 105 worse than Floyd vs Marquez will crush UFC 103.

One has nothing to do with the other. Those who are looking forward to a UFC card will watch regardless and those who are fans of Cotto and Pacman, which are Phillipine and Puerto Rican fans mostly willl watch that no matter what UFC bring to the table.
