TV Shows 2009

Since the old TV shows thread was archived, I thought I'd start a new one.

And well, since last night was the (2nd) season premier of True Blood...you know damn well I'll talk about it.

Well...not too much...For 90% of the episode I was rather disapointed. It seemed to be steering the "Soap Opera" way, and I was a bit bored. THEN in the last 5 minutes...Erik "The 1000 year old Viking" Northam changed my entire view of the first episode. Erik is the shit, and one of my favorite characters on the show.

(Hard to believe this is the same guy who played one of Zoolander's airhead roommates that died in the gasoline spraying accident)..

...Good to see Lafayette is not dead.

Any new fall shows any of you are looking forward to?

I plan on checking out Slater's The Forgotten and FlashForward as well as a couple others, but those two have gotten my attention most.

Any returning shows you're looking forward to?

Castle, Dollhouse, Fringe & Heroes for me. Oh yeah, and Dexter comes out in September, too, I think.

Got to get the DVR set up for the new shows.

That's the thing FF...I think the new season has indeed started.

They'll do like they did before: Give us a taste of the next season and leave us pissed, because it'll leave us with a cliff hanger lol (Like when we all thought Lafayette was dead ...that was the beginning of Maryanne's bullshit).

I think this season's finale' is just gonna piss us off, in the same kind of way.....a good way :-D

I wouldn't say I'm bored...but something does feel different. It might be that the Godric storyline was really powerful (plus, lets be honest, that kid can act), interesting and touching...that its harder to feel what's happening on that level.

Again, its not that I don't like what's happening, its just that it feels like a different season already.

I agree.
I'm starting to get bored with it but will hang in there.
I would like to see Maryann go for good.

I agree with whoever said that Eric's talk with Pam about kids and the way he talked to the kids in general was killing me... "Good bye tiny humans"...

Its weird to me. I have liked the last couple of episodes...but they seemed disconnected from what had been happening (for what seemed like weeks on end). Once Godric died it was like a HUGE storyline ended...and to me it seems that the stuff that has happened in the last two episodes, feels like a different season.

It was funny how she could straddle the line between being age-wise and having a teenage girl attitude. (playing Yahtzee...WTF!)

Her putdowns of Bill were good... and her comment about how humans started tasting different after the industrial revolution was really funny.

Anyone watch Friday Night Lights? While everyone was gaga over Heroes Season 1 being 'must see tv', FNL was the show I watched immediately no matter what. I missed last season and have finally caught up with it via Netflix. I was a little afraid it was going to suffer with Smash gone and stuff, but the season was strong. I still think this ranks as one of the best hours of TV out there.

I also have been re-watching my Twin Peaks DVD set after a friend and I were talking about the show recently. I have wondered a time or two whether Twin Peaks would have been better served coming out now than it was back in 1990. Hard to say, part of it's cult-like following is because it was so different for the time. But, I can't help but think what the show could have been if ABC hadn't forced Lynch to solve the Laura Palmer murder.

You know my comment wasnt aimed at you, bro. After i posted it, i thought it might have seemed that way. Not so.

Yeah, she was weak. But shit...she saw the fuckedupedness of the situation when she and lafayette kicked in the crack house door. Fucked up eyes and all. lol
How the hell does anyone let their kid go back to THAT shit?

You know you would have strangled at least one of the dealers.

ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOOO

I'm not saying it was solid my man....but you have to take into account, what Tara said to her mother....it was powerful bro: "...I'll forgive you for everything...ALL of it...."

Dude....Neither one of us are shitty parents and we probably wouldn't have anything to make ammends for, but in Lettie May's twisted logic, this was the redemption she sought . I knew the minute Tara uttered those words, Lettie was gonna let her out.

She's no genius....she just wanted her daughters forgiveness and acceptance: And Tara preyed on that.

BTW - FUCK TARA , for the way she came at Lafayette, during the intervention......

Bust up the intervention, and let the daughter go straight back to the opium den. Solid parental move.

The decision was absolutely STUPID.

However, given their history and her mother seeing a promised opportunity at redemption (with her daughter): I can most definetly see why she did it.

As a Father Steve (if you are one), you have to understand the complexity of that kind of situation........If I'm "not right" with my children, there's nothing I won't do to fix things..and, I'm sure the emotional dysfunction between the two and Lettie May's need to redeem herself , caused her to make the wrong decision......Love is weird like that.

Dude...when Eric took off flying: I think I Jizzed in my pants...... lol

I disagree somewhat w/ you on your other assessment though FF....I'm glad the season DIDNT end with Godric's death lol. I'm way too addicted for that lol ... also ... lets wait for the ACTUAL season finale to come, before we make a judgement call, as to whether or not this season went too long.

BTW - I'm officially on Team Eric lol. F*ck Bill.....Eric's Matrix/Superman move flipped me out...I was OUT of my seat , like "WTF!!!???" lol.

The Queen is just Hillarious and a BRILLIANT character: Some of the things she was saying, were so true.

Her commentary re: "Rituals" was on point. Gotta rewatch it again, to actually give a better account....I won't be baked this time, so I should be able to offer more lol.

ffontan, I thought Erick taking off flying was the best part of last night, I thought that was wicked cool myself how he showed off for the kids. The dialogue between him and the other blonde chick about the kids was cracking me up too. I have to say that I too wasn't as into this episode as the previous ones, I hope that that the two weeks we have to wait for this finale are worth it! Oh and the thing that pissed me off the most was Tara's mother in this one, I think that had to be the stupidest decision ever.

It seems to me as thought the season should've finished with Godric's death. It was a way powerful moment, and episode...and its been sort of a ride down from there on.

Now don't get me wrong...last night's episode was really good, but again to me it feels like another season of the show started. Having said all that...it was WAY COOL, when Eric took off flying! Way cool!
