"Nice thing is the Phils at least got to win their season finale at home, showed some pride, and will not have to see the Yanks celebrate a title on their field." Amen.

as a Red Sox fan who lived through 2004 ... Game 6 is all that matters, Game 7 is a nonissue. Pedro was outstanding in Game 2 ... the problem was Manuel got greedy. Through 6 he was very good. Yeah yeah, I know, he lobbied to stay in. Guess what, athletes do that - Fernando Vargas with that alien growing on his face said he was good to keep going ... Pedro is a proud man. It's Manuel's job to actually watch the game and follow the game plan, 6 innings 8 k's, 99 pitches was plenty. All hands are on deck tomorrow, with really only Hamels unavailable, and even he is negotiable ... you don't expect to bring Cliff Lee back on 2 days rest, but if it's Game 7, and he's your only option, you gotta do it. Nice thing is the Phils at least got to win their season finale at home, showed some pride, and will not have to see the Yanks celebrate a title on their field.

As a Phillies fan, all I can say is....one game at a time. Unlikely the Phils go up there and take two, but the above approach is their only way to handle it. I relish the idea of it going to game 7, and a third game with sabathia having to pitch once again. He already has been gotten to. Just hoping.....

A-Rod has been clutch, but I still think he's capable of the big choke. He certainly was awful in those first two games. I do believe Petite will pitch a no-hitter tonight, a perfect game.....considering there will be no one standing there to hit the ball. The game is tomorrow night. A gem from Petetite (you are talking to a Philadelphian, for the record) ? Highly, highly unlikely. He's gonna go on 3-days rest, against a great lineup....and he ain't got the roids this year!

Right now, for the Yanks, I go with Damon. What he did in the 9th inning of the game was as clutch and smart as anything you'll see. He's been just about impossible to get out throughout most of the series, and seems to be in on every Yankees rally/explosion. Also, as great as Jeter is and is doing, he got into that DP last night, at the most crucial time.

Jeter is over .400 which is crazy! I really think it is A-Rod's year though..

Its actually Wed but I'm with ya. He's def the guy who gets MVP if the Phillys win. Who ya got if the Yanks pull it off. I gotta go with Jeter. He's the most consistent of all of them. But some big plays being made out there. Could go to a few different guys.

His problem has been that he wears out towards the end of the season- he plays too hard and too much. It seems as if the one-week's rest leading into this series completely rejuventaed him. His beautiful swing is in full effect, as all can see.

Burnett has been inconsitent all season long. I didn't expect him to be any different last night. Even though it'll be against the Yankees, I hope Utley breaks Jackson's WS home run record tomorrow night! That guy is unbelieveable ! -- Edited by thepugknows at 11/03/2009 3:07 AM PST
