Say it isn't so!!!!! I JUST heard that Deadwood was cancelled and that at best we could expect 2 2-hour movies to wrap the story up...David Milch supposedly had a 7-year arc for the story, so how could it possibly be wrapped up in 4 hours??? This would be the worst mistake in HBO history.

Good news from the Deadwood camp: From: http://tv.ign.com/articles/711/711064p1.html IGN was told that the show's sets were being dismantled as of last week. Indeed, we were informed that The Gem Saloon was already in a Dumpster! But now a reliable source close to the series has informed IGN that HBO issued a "halt" order yesterday (June 1st) on tearing down the sets. Could HBO be succumbing to fan and media pressure to bring Deadwood back for a fourth season? If not then why not simply continue with striking the sets? With the third season debut right around the corner, this is the most promising sign yet that Deadwood may not be quite dead yet. From: W. Earl Brown on the HBO Deadwood bbs:[\b] “I don't know where IGN got the info, but from what I've heard, they are correct.” “Someone wanted them in a dumpster. Someone else -- obviously one with veto power -- did not.” -- This is great news to us hooples. Maybe HBO is feeling enough pressure from our campaign to re-think their decision regarding Deadwood’s 4th and final season. We’re hoping for a miracle. www.HboNoMo.com www.savedeadwood.tv -- ___________________________ http://www.SaveDeadwood.tv/ http://www.HboNoMo.com/ ~~~--- PBF

Our Ad came out in Variety today. Page #3 is a good location. Hope we shake up some people. If we do, then maybe there is hope for Carnivale. I know we've been fighting that fight longer. It would be great if this show triumphed also because so many of us want the story to come to a logical conclusion. Hang in there. Watch and wait, see what happens next.

Good News! We collected enough for our Deadwood Ad in Variety. It will run 5-25-2006. If anyone from this board contributed to the cause THANK YOU! It's amazing at what can be accomplished with a little help from our friends.

Question... Who has the power here? Answer... WE do. If you think about that and take a few minutes for your own personal fantasy, ala Bruce the Almighty... Oh the things that you might do to satisfy your desires. You might launch a 4th season of Deadwood, or possibly a third, fourth, fifth and sixth of Carnivale... If you are interested in reading on... its in my blog on this site. (The caveat is that it takes a few minutes to read. Hopefully I won't be fed to Wu's pigs for my verbosity.) http://boards.hbo.com/forum.jspa?type=blog&userID=300021861

Wow, I'm really shocked they took Deadwood too - my apologies. I don't post very much but I do sign all the petitions and will sign all of DW's. Again, all I can say is I'm so sorry...the Carnivale cancellation still hurts, and it's been a year. I tried the "contact us" link but of course it's having difficulties. Typically classy HBO...

> Richard D. > Parsons > Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Time Warner > c/o Office of the Corporate Secretary > Time Warner Inc. > One Time Warner Center > New York, NY10019>> With the news this weekend that HBO is cutting Deadwood off at the end of this summer, NOW is the time to send letters to this guy. Let him know that you are unhappy with HBO's change in programming and that with two series cancelled without warning and no clear closure for fans, you aren't waiting around to be burned a THIRD time. Tell him that since HBO is changing their programming strategy and becoming more like regular television that cancels a series midway through the story, you won't be subscribing to HBO any longer. It's not HBO, it's TV and you have better things to do with your money each month than to continue to financially support a channel that is abandoning the very subscribers that helped it reach such great heights. Remember to be polite and mature. Don't be threatening. The last thing we need is to be portrayed again as a whacked out group of fans instead of a dedicated group of abandoned subscribers. Don't give CA the opportunity to spin the story that way. He will. He did last year and he would do it again. -- -- ______ Lynn in Sherman Oaks www.classiclasvegas.com Be sure to sign the guestbook!

Ronnie... I think Mr. A has a vision that intelligent subscribers are no longer his target demographic. Ergo he can rid himself of those rather expensive to produce series and glut the HBO schedule with the kind of series like Lucky Louie which will only appeal to Joe Six-pack sitting there in the Lazyboy in a sweaty undershirt. Things that are cheap to produce and devoid of any content that would appeal to anything other than an adolescent. He must genuinely think that those loyal subscribers he has betrayed with these cancellations will just keep sending in those checks indefinitely. Obviously, suprises are in store on that note. Further, Joe Six-pack needs that subscription money for beer. He isn't about to shell out a dime when he can get that dreck for free on Fox. I've noted over the years in this biz that executive blunders increase exponentially when the press gets wind that a company's boat is sailing on a sea of red ink. It must be some sort of supervirus that destroys executive brain cells.

I would like to take this moment to thank all the Carnivale board posters who have come here to share our pain and offer support. We know what you all went through back then, (Several of us are Carnivale fans) and it means a lot for you all to be here. Thanks. -- ___________________________ Let HBO know you won't invest another penny for a network that won't give proper closure to their own series. Ronnie. That was just an unsubstatiated rumor, unfortunately. Rest assured many of us Carnies will be lending our support to your efforts on behalf of Deadwood. It defies all logic for HBO to cancel two hit shows with intelligence, originality and not to mention a tremendous cult following. It looks like HBO is teetering on the edge of becoming a "cheap seats" channel with all the quality of a public access channel.
