I always thought about this. In a scene where Ben sees the Nuclear Bomb, Justin appears. He says, "Ye offspring of serpents, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?". "ye offspring of serpents" is what caught my attention because I always thought there was a lineage to Cain. I thought this because of Genesis 3:15: "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise Him on the heel." (Genesis 3:15). I Googled, "ye offspring of Serpents" and guess what came up? http://www.sherryshriner.com/sherry/serpent-seedline.htm THe title of the article : The Serpent Seedline: Edomite Jews and the SOns of Cain Then I Googled: "Enmity between you seed and the serpents seed" or Genesis 3:15 and guess what came up. This is a birthright war, and they feel that they are the ones that are to have sole supreme dominance over the earth. " THe second sentence: THe Serpents seed is made up of non humans that are bent on destroying all human life from this planet in the name of Lucifer. Nice to see your post, dbarb! We could use some more discussion!
I assume the phrase refers to Matthew too, and I like your connection to Justin's sermons.
The line in Matthew was addressed by John the Baptist to the Pharisees coming for baptism.
I think it serves another purpose - to connect Justin to John the Baptist, who "Ushered" in Jesus. But now that I think about it, I also wonder - why did Justin baptise his followers? Was it Justin the good man trying to protect them, or was there a more sinister purpose? If the Usher is a representative of the Devil, in whose name was he baptising them?

I know I'm coming late to this forum but I think the original poster got it wrong.

Hmmmm, I just had another thought; was Bro. Justin's pronouncement to Ben made before or after he saw Norman's "worst sin"? You know how he reacted to that tidbit....oh wait a minute, I seem to think it was at the end of Season 1 when he handed Norman the candle holder. Or was that post "fire" also?
Of course, being the ultimate liar and sociopath that he is, he believes anything he utters as long as it proves his current point.
Guess this calls for another CARNIVALE maraton at my place....

Ahhh, we are talking about the Kenites; the son's of Cain. They are out there, and they may or may not know who they are. They are those who seem to naturally sew seeds of discontentment where ever they go, doom and gloomers and that ilk.
You do know that Cain was Lucifers son, and Able was Adam's I see; which most seem to miss out on....more a fault of bad translations centuries ago than evil intentions, or so I hope.
Trivia time....in the KJV, one "famous mistake" word never appears; what is that word? I'm not refering to the term Paul used in the New Testament which meant "wholy seduced" either. Give up yet? OKAY, apple.
But that is neither here nor there, but does show a willingness of mankind to blindly accept what they are told by the mainstream clergy, rather than to see for themselves what was really written. Was it Martin Luther who correctly prononced, "The traditions of man, make void the word of God"? No truer statement has ever been uttered; at leas as far as I am concerned.
John 8:44 "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." Here was Christ addressing is accusers shortly before his crucifixion; tell Samson he did spit in their eyes, at least verbaly....and may yet do worse at a later date.
"Ye offspring of Serpant's", does not appear in any translation that I have, and I have at least 10, going back as far as the Geneva, on my computer to search through. But it does sound quite biblical, even I thought so, which prooves I am not ready for the end times either. Oh well, back to the books. The "Companion Bible" is a great place to begin your search....DR. Bolinger was perhaps one of the best bible schollars in the last 2 centuries.

Please forgive me for having anything to do with Sherry Shriner sites-----the woman is crazy. I dug further into her beliefs, she is not only misguided, I believe she is absolutely evil. The seed of Cain lie can only be proven by the dissension it creates. I must apologize to all of you for furthering this notion and for furthering anyones interest in the false notions of Sherry Shriner.
It hurts my heart to think I would help to send any of you down the wrong path. Hawkins

PureUncut, How are you? You haven't had a million responses to this?!! What's the deal? I believe the scene you describe was just the beginning citing Cain lineage and Edomite agenda (just as there are two groups of Christians, real and Washington) Who knows where or how far Carnivale could have taken this.........I don't care what anyone says, Carnivale was dangerous. It's cancellation wasn't all about money honey.
The quote "The seed of the serpents are the goats..." etc. Explains where we are at present quite perfectly.We are indeed in these times. How blessed can we be? God must have really loved us to let us be here now. It's going to get VERY interesting. I have seen other sites by Shirley Shriner and believe she is on the right track, of course everything must be checked against the Bible.
I believe we are witnessing America's final years. The quote in Why We Fight reads: Nowhere is it written that the American Empire will go on forever." Soon we will become the North American Union, America, Canada and Mexico will be one. Then, following that, I believe America will disappear altogether. America is Mystery Babylon and its end will come in many ways. One of which will be Peak Oil and the crash of our economy. I believe we will go to bed one night and wake up a third world country, it will happen that fast.
I see our next President as being a "beautiful", "magical"",charismatic "young Senator from Illinois who will take his followers into a Tribulation such as the world has never seen. Watch and see.

Finding these sites on a hunch must have been exciting for you. I hadn't seen the Shriner site and I found it fascinating. This is still the tip of the iceberg, so much is hidden from us. All that much more to be revealed. EVERYTHING will eventually have to stand in the light.
