I haven't been here in so long, I had to log in!! LOL

butterfly, welcome, although not as many of us still stroll these shadowed halls anymore....loads of symbolism in this show that's why we loved it so much. don't know if you can enter the archives, but we had some lively discussions on this board in the day.

Cable is out, so I've been watching DVDs...started on Season 1 last week with the first two episodes. I'll probably watch some more tomorrow night when the Big Galoot is at school and I can have the TV.

I think I identify with Ruthie, too, Marion. She's very maternal and soothing in many ways...guess that's why Scudder and Ben gravitated toward her.

butterflyaway, you're right, this show was LOADED with metaphors, symbols, and whatever.

We've played a game here sometimes "Who would you identify with in Carnivale?"

Mine is Ruthie. Hard to identify wth an all-powerful avatar, of course!

I guess I was just scrolling though these blogs, hoping to find more talk from people who somehow grasped the metaphors or symbols or whateveryouwannacallthemem that were specific to this series.

I felt like the characters in this series were profoundly synchronistic with or, at least, comparable with the characters I have encountered (though not quite as dramatized) in my own experiences. (Though I must admit this is not the ONLY movie/series I have felt strangely "resonant?" with).

Yes, I see myself a wounded lion. Anybody out there? Anybody spiritually in tune with the somewhat out of tune messages in Carnivale?

I would be nice to chat with some brothers and/or sisters...

Hey, Katie!

Yes, I loved White Collar. Yay Tim!

(I have to admit I hated his last show on HBO, but it's just so cool that he got a new one! And a good one.)

Unfortunately...NO season 3 !! HBO owns the rights to the story but chose not to renew the series in any form.

On a happier note, I just loved seeing Tim DeKay in the new series on USA..White Collar. He is just wonderful!! ...Upstanding as usual (how could he not be!), sexy, smart, funny and very cool as the quick-witted FBI mentor to the cocky crook recruit. I love our "Jonsey"!!!

Yea Carnivale alumni...we are your biggest fans!

Wheezy! Great to see you back!

No, I don't watch "Heroes", but hearing that makes me think about it!

John Carroll Lynch turned up on something the other day...I was cheering!

Last night I went to see the Wizard of Oz in HD at the movie theater. It was showing all over the US one night only in celebration of the movies 70th anniversary.
Needless to say the movie was AWESOME. It was sold out and everyone was there to just enjoy the movie. Some little girls were dressed like Dorothy and other older women had they hair braided. Movie magic was pretty amazing in 1939. Only problem with watching on the big screen was I never really notice before that when they were following the yellow brick road they were actually just walking into a painted wall!!
Have a good day everyone!

Damon,

I hear you there, friend. Daniels's group pitched in so it was a group effort. No one could afford it otherwise. But, it was interesting.

Hope everthing gets better for you. MY market is kinda in the gutter, too. Bluer skies alll around!...
