People have suggested posting on the Yahoo board and Line Journal (which I don't know anything about). If we can get enough responses to post here, that would be great. I don't know anything about E-3, Sara - do you have a link? We haven't picked a night yet, Carneegal, but most likely is the good ol' Sunday night. I'll be back to report... If there are more people just dropping in here, let us know if you're interested. -- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. - Goethe

Marion, Is this through HBO or another carrier? Just heard some interesting things on E-3 the technological fun-shop-expo on G-4. it appears that Xbox has "community gatherings" for subscribers that will allow folks to view their favorite show and be able to do so as a "group" with the abilitly to interactively discuss the show. Don't know how this translates to us Carniholics, but, sounds good to me. (With reservations) LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.

Hi everybody! For those here who are not on the Yahoo board, there is talk of a "rewatch" project - set a night to rewatch Carnivale - one episode a week, and discuss it the next day. Anybody up for it? -- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. - Goethe

i know it's like kicking a dead horse, but i love Carnivale and unhappy with the way HBO insulted its fans with its cancellation. i think we need to organize another message to HBO. i had the idea of sending baseballs with the writing "Jonesy Lives: bring back Carnivale" on it to get the point across. i see thousands of responses on here. can you imagine HBO being sent thousands of baseballs declaring the return of Carnivale. and if it doesn't work, oh well, at least we annoyed them a little bit. come on, people. i love this show immensely and all these lame brain, crap shows that are getting the season approvals is a slap in the face to the dedicated audience that appreciated the beauty and genius of this show. Clancy Brown himself stated, the fans must join together and let their voice be heard. let's spread the word. let's shake some dust over at HBO.

Hi Katie---The Carnivale fever must be contagious, again. Last night on "Coast-to--Coast, George Knapp was interviewing 2 people responsible for the movie Bloodline. They were talking about Father Sennier. It brought to mind the scene where Scudder told Smith that a manuscript was hidden at Chateau Sennier. (not sure of the spelling). My little brain starting wondering what Mr. DK would have done with that. Soooo- I'm watching Carnivale again. Katie- I'm the one who showed up at El Torito's with the "chemical haircut" Karen

Hi Katie! Yes, I think I'm going to start watching Carnivale again, too. I had some speculative thoughts about it the other day... -- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. - Goethe

Hi everyone, I'm still around-just have not written-only lurked! But, lately a Carnivale longing and wave of nostalgia has swept over me. I miss the show so much. I feel it waiting in limbo, like a willow-the-wisp hovering over the marsh, waiting to reappear and continue someday! I miss all of my Carni friends, even though I know most of you are busy with life. (Hi Marion, Sara, Lynn, Shucks, Fana, Damon and Toni) I love reading the thoughts of new viewers and reexperiencing their passion and excitement (but not the disappointment of finding the series cancelled) I still love Carnivale just as much as always! I think I'll go watch my CarnyCon DVD. Love you guys!--Katie

asmondaidark, welcome to Carnieland! I always envy people who have just discovered Carnivale. I would like to be a fly on your wall as you watch the last episode! Somebody once videoed their friends watching it - great fun! Carnivale is the only series DVD I've ever bought. (No, that's a lie, I also bought "The Sandbaggers", which I'm sure you know about if you're into cult TV shows.) I paid full price for Carnivale, and then promptly bought a copy for a friend as a birthday present. By the way, Amazon and Best Buy are currently selling it at a bargain price. Great gift! Come back and tell us how you like the last four episodes! There are not many of us here any more, I'm afraid, but the Yahoo Carnivale group is still going strong and discussing the show. http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/CarnivaleHBO/messages?o=1 -- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Well I'm yet another traveller late to the Carnie. First a bit about me. I'm 22, I'm from the UK, I've spent the last 7 years studying films and television and Im about to get my degree in Moving Image. I spent my second year of University studying cult television shows so suffice to say I know my stuff, and if I dont own it then its on the to buy list! I didnt watch Carnivale in my second year though - I watched it at the start of 2008 because there was something about it. Maybe it was the lovely textured cover, the fantastic art work... I dunno. Suffice to say season 1 sat there on my shelf till just after Christmas. I devoured my first season like a gannet, it didnt stand a chance. What a climax! A show hasnt had me screaming my lungs out like that since the last episode of Farscape! I duly bought season 2 (paided what ever The Man wanted - I needed my fix) and let it sit on the shelf. I didnt want to rush it this time. No way. But over the last week I've got into it and tonight, I watched episodes 6, 7, and 8 and I was nearly in tears. Theres four episodes left and I know my hearts simply going to break when the final credits roll. Unlike Firefly, I can let that slip away because it had a shorter run and it had its swan song but Carnivale doesnt. It has a stack of episodes sure, but whats the point of a story if you never get to the end? Then again, maybe thats all in the Carnie spirit - its a journey we should enjoy, not the destination. I love HBO. There commitment to doing the best quality TV is legendary in Britain - I dont mean that as an understatement you understand, I mean it as fact. Everyone in this country knows that if you want a good show, give it to HBO. Sure the BBC would give it a bash, but Rome wouldnt be Rome without HBO behind it. Thank you to Jeff Beal. Through the glory of Bluetooth my mobile now sings the Carnivale theme tune every time someone calls me, and it makes me smile. I just hope when Ive consumed my last bit of cottoned candy I dont choke on the stick. I'm gutted that all the revival efforts seem to have died a death - I'm sorry, but this show is better then Firefly and being a mighty fine browncoat whose already burnt out one set of DVD's (no really, they've been played to death) I dont make that statement lightly. Guys and gals, we really need to think of something. I dont know what, but theres a fire burning in my belly. I'm just glad to see that these boards arent dead, and that there are still people wanting to talk about it and watch it. We needs ourselves a good old time revival... and before the decades out!

What I miss most is the mystery of the first season. Every episode shyly gave up a little bit at a time. What does this mean? Why is this happening? Everything intertwines with that wonderful Tarot Card opening and hypnotic music... Being a reader, I am used to taking a slow pace and trying to figure out how the clues connect and lead us forward. Unfortunately, I suppose the "instant gratification age" was too impatient and demanding. And, critics used to fast paced instant solutions were totally turned off. Showing our age, I suppose. Where's everyone else? Lynn, Shuks, Katie, Fanna, Lurker, Mal, et al. Miss you guys. (Sniff) And all trhe lovely Lively conversation here. Howdy! LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.

LS, always so nice to see you here! I always thought that the problem for critics is that they see so much TV that they don't spend a lot of time on each show. And as we all know, the first viewing of the first episode was confusing. In hindsight, it could have been done differently if that had been kept in mind. But what made the series so fascinating is that you can watch it over and over and see more each time. Also in hindsight, I wish now that I had done more to support it early on, because I knew one of the TV critics at the New York Times. (She's since left.) But the first episode or two, I wasn't really hooked on it either. I expected, with a name like Carnivale, to see something with bright colors and exotic acts, and of course it's just the opposite - for a reason. But maybe the critics had the same reaction. I think the main reason I watched the second episode was because I was curious to see if the twins were really conjoined. (I didn't recognize them as the acrobats I had seen live on Cirque du Soleil.) That seems shallow now - but it says something about why people watch what they do. The book "Blink" says some interesting things about people making up their minds in a moment and justifying their decisions later. I think Carnivale has been recognized more as people watch it on DVD. They can see a flash of weird visions, and can say "What was that?" Stop. Replay. Replay again. Sigh. Time to watch them again, I think. -- Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. - Goethe

Kinda sad to see things grinding down. Looked at EW's list of TV series we which hadn't been cancelled. Carnivale was one of them. Great cast, excellent acting, but from what I gather with critics...a plot that was incomprehinsible to a lot of folks. Still, it sure beats anything anyone else has offered up as a replacement. Sending you all a Texas Howdy! Maybe after 3 years have passed...like in the story line...we might (just might) see a resurection. Well...it COULD happen. Stay coool. LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.
