I always liked "Phantom" Even liked the movie with Billy Zane. He's an ambiguous character to some, but I always thought of him as one of the first "flawed heros" of comic lore. And the costume...part pirate and part Harliquin. Gotta love that image. LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.

Wow! Thanks for passing this on Damon. I'll be watching Syfy for The Phantom. Though, I must admit, when I was reading that strip every Sunday as a kid... I was never really sure what was going on with that character. I was more in tune with Mandrake the Magician. OMG I suddenly feel REEELY old.

Hey there, Shuks Here's something Dan posted on the dark side (aka the yahoo board) back in March. _____________ Though I've been incredibly busy since Carnivale, besides the occasional television episode and/or staff job, most of my stuff hasn't made it into production (the real heart-breaker was my contemporary adaptation of DRACULA, which ABC decided to pass on). It's been frustrating, but that's, as they say, show-biz. If it was easy, everybody'd do it. Anyway, I finally scored with a mini-series for Sci-Fi that's now prepping for production in April. It's an update on the classic PHANTOM comic strip (you know, the jungle-guy in the purple suit and domino mask). Due to scheduling, I actually passed on the project until my son, Charlie, expressed so much enthusiasm for it that I agreed to do it if he cowrote it. Though it's not a boundry-breaker like Carnivale, the piece is a rollicking good time and should be worth watching. If Sci-Fi likes it, they might pick it up as a series. BTW, I just posted a bunch of Carnivale-related stuff on my Facebook page if you want to go check it out. Back to lurking, D. -- http://www.flickr.com/nohodamon/collections

I think "Twilight" breeds some unusual fans, to say the least. Can't wait to see the new Harry Potter...hear that it is AWESOME. Marion...did you catch Paul McCartney playing at the Ed Sullivan Theater? Just finished watching Letterman. Wish I could have been there. He's been on my Number One hit parade for over forty years. Love to ya! LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over. -- Edited by LadySara at 07/15/2009 10:05 PM PDT

Oh good grief... "Twilight". On tonight's local news they were doing a story about some Dodo Bird that had to have a Coast Guard rescue because he was investigating a cliff that was supposedly eluded to in the book. Our tax dollars at work! shuks

Shuks, I only had a sip, though the kids did mimic Lodz's method using sugar. The stuff is 50% alcohol. so it is pretty stout...taste is like licorous, the black kind eally bitter and burns going down. Yuck. I can see where one would need at least a teaspoon of sugar to make this go down. Speaking of graphic novels, have you heard that they have the gop ahead to do a "Twilight" graphic novel. So why can't Carnivale get one??? Oh yeah, HBO owns it. $%#*. LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.

Hi kids. This probably sounds really out of the loop. It is! But has anyone had a DK sighting lately? I keep wondering if there was ever any further discussion about a graphic novel... OR anything between him and the new regime at HBO. Wondering what that guy's up to these days. Seems like another lifetime ago. Still want to know where the next stop on the road was after they left the corn field. The journey's still ongoing (somewhere... in some folks heads.) So Sarah... what DOES Absinth really taste like? Is it really "as bitter as wormwood". Explains the sugar cube ritual wouldn't it? Wonder who ended up with that silver cake server Lodz used atop the glass. shuks

Shuks and all... Got an error message the other day. Went to HBO and our forum was not on the list and I panicked. Just had to reboot. The Big Galoot had some friends over with a bottle of Absinth. So, we broke out the Season 1 DVDs and enjoyed. These kids hadn't seen it before, and I think they were impressed. I had to sign into TCM as LadySara2. The name was already taken...and I thought I was one of a kind, harrumph. Nice to see you all!! LS -- It ain't over t'ill it's over.

Sarah... Did you find the key to the door? MJ's been here keeping the tea kettle warm. Did you bring the Earl Grey? (Psst... Marion... Sarah thought 'Ol Windbreaking Entertainment took our strand down.) What would Stumpy Do? Who'd milk them gators?

Hi MJ: I'm good. Glad someone's keeping the lamp lit over here. Lynn and I can be found most of the time over at TCM under our usual screen names. Their discussion boards are http://forums.tcm.com/jive/tcm/index.jspa Or if you're up for a bit of challenging fun try their new beta site for the Classic Film Union http://www.tcm.com/fan/?o_cid=fanmember I'm still getting used to that one. Its more like a social networking site. Some of the new doo dads on there make me feel sooo ooold. But the conversation is a real trip to the movie candy store. The folks on there are a lot more genteel than the Carnies or Deadwoodies were. At least, that's been my experience. Check it out if you're so inclined. Sad to say, but HBO just doesn't have anything for me anymore. In oh so many ways. shuks

Hey Shuks, That's good news. I was just thinking we hadn't seen Tim DeKay lately, since that debacle "Tell me you love me." How are things with you? -- I heart New York...

Hi kids: Glad to see a promo today for a fall series called White Collar on the USA Network... starring Tim DeKay. Evidently he plays an FBI guy heading up a white collar crime unit. Happy to see him in a series again. shuks
