After a table read for "the first official episode," Valerie invites her co-stars to a "bonding lunch," but Juna doesn't show up. The two make up later with a one-on-one lunch, where Valerie learns why Juna is such a paparazzi favorite. At home, Valerie is touched when Franchesca appears to reach out to her at long last.

Hello! This show is *about* TV at its worst. You don't get it. I suggest "Joey."

OK...I'm here to make amends. I'd previously posted comments saying how horrible I thought the show was...and all that...BUT...I did sit down and watch a few of the shows on last night and was COMPLETELY hooked at the end. I had to love the dog pooh in Valerie's hair...and she's SO particular about her hair. And there were other bits also that had me laffing. So, I think I'll hang in there. I actually can't wait until the next episode. Thanks for giving us a breath of different kind of air

This show stands alone as horrible, there is no need to interject bitterness about other shows being cancelled. Although those shows might be great and HBO may have made a bad call by canceling them...there is no need to use them as a barometer in this argument. The Comeback speaks for itself...television at its worst.

Keep letting HBO have it for this crap they are trying to pass off as entertainment (or not).

Has HBO ever cancelled an original series show during the season? I am thinking that "The Comeback" could be it's first. This is by far the worst show that I have ever seen. I can't believe that HBO put this product on TV. You people at HBO got rid of Carnivale for this? Unbelievable.

Starch...I agree with your analyis...also: Valarie is in every shot and there is not enough humor or substance to the character to make you like her or to carry the show. That said, the 4th episode is the best so far. You see a darker side to Valarie...she discards the pup/she betrays the confidence of the new writer. She also wins a battle...the script change...albeit, indirectly. More importantly, she might have a friend...the director. He might help us understand and sympathize with her character. There may be some evolution going on here...it's worth watching another week.

I really am giving this show a shot! I promise! I just wish I could LIKE her more. I really want to! I need something more endearing... I'm not falling in love with anyone! The comedy seems a little cut and dry. I'm not having to work to hard to get the punch lines. I do like how they play on the scene behind the taping... but SO much more can be done. We know everyone is running away from her, which makes US want to run away from her. Someone has to find something to love about her fast or its over!
