I've watched a few episodes of The Comeback (watching ep 10 right now) and I have to say that it really needs work. I thought I might like it because I love alot of the other shows on HBO (Entourage is great, and I'm waiting for the new season of Sopranos). Hopefully the show improves in the next few episodes.

Valerie Hangs with the Cool Kids was hysterical. The show has gotten better every week! Thanks for reminding me of the hysterical quotes.

I won't post any more lists, except the following: "Mark, is that my Simon Pierce carving fork, and you're using it as a scratching device? Very sanitary, dear" "It itches" "You should lay off the business till you're off the percoset" "I married him for better or worse--not for lunch." "OK, here are your pepporoncini...*whack*" "I don't do nudity" "You can't put a price on spirituality..." "Oh yes I can.." The thing I love about this show is that no matter how dumb Valerie may appear, she is always thinking about the people she loves. She has not a mean bone in her body. She just wants the same things that are happening in her peer's lives to be happening with her. For a glimpse at her humanity, check out the way she completely dis-regards the publicity crew (she hangs up on them) for the "Comeback" when Mark falls, and the way she explains to Jane that Mark broke three fingers in the scene in the hospital waiting room. Valerie may be vain, stupid, self-obsessed, or a combination of all the aforementioned, but she loves her people and that is a really refreshing portrayal. Done now, Mark

I myself really wanted to like the show, but don't, would rather see HBO pull it, and I see no problem with saying so. I watched the first couple of episodes and "got" the jokes, just didn't find it carried off at all. I went on here and for the most part saw too many people that felt the same way. I find it very tedious and see that in the other opinions too. The remainder of the people were saying I didn't get it, well, I did, just didn't appreciate it. I saw all the ironies, I just didn't find it worth sitting through a half hour of tension. And if "after all this is AMERICA" there really should not be a problem with saying so either. Why one would then go on to say I'm "not allowed" so say so is really beyond me, watch me: I don't like the show and am so disappointed in HBO's Sunday line up I feel they should be putting their production dollars into something better. I did catch the last couple of episodes having nothing else to do those particular nights and waiting for something else to come on, and having seen them thought it improved. I then watched last night's, in hopes that it had been tweaked and improved, I think episode 10, the Yoga one, and it's right back to where it started, and I really don't want to watch another eight episodes until there's a good one again. If you really look back at some of these threads, most that don't like the show have similar complaints and have seen what's supposed to be funny, just don't like it. if there really is such a consensus out there and we're paying for HBO to produce it, we should be saying HBO should cancel it and put something better on. Consumerism is part of what "AMERICA" is and we should be letting them know what we will and will not consume. Somebody else said something to the effect of not understanding the "glee" of someone's failure, presumably the failure of "The Comeback", but isn't that exactly what the entire premise of "The Comeback" is? Every week we're expected to watch someone make a fool out of herself and enjoy it. I'd be quite happy, having been disappointed with The Comeback, to see it fail and to know that HBO learned something from it. The difference with the show is that Valerie never really does learn, two steps forward and three back is what it's proven over time. By following the lead of what HBO thinks is funny, we are only letting them know how they parallel their own premise and would find more comic relief in the failure of HBO's comeback than the main character's weekly failures. There really is no reason that, if HBO is taking our money to put this on the air, that they should not be able to "take it". > Oh well, > > I was going through what some people wrote here and > was kinda shocked. Oh well, I was going through what some people wrote here and was kinda shocked. Of course you're allowed to like or dislike a show. After all this is AMERICA isn't it? But you're NOT allowed to say a show is bad because you're do not understand it. You can say "I don't like it". You cannot say it sucks and HBO should stop it. I find the comeback very amusing. Watching the first episode was definitely an experience. I was sitting there asking myself "WHAT THE (*&^ IS THIS SHOW?" You just need to get into it or better, let it get into you. It is NOT going to be the HAHAHA comedy you're used to. It is NOT going to be FRIENDS or SEINFELD. IT IS NOT A SITCOM. It's a HYBRID. ANd I believe that HBO is redefining TV by being so creative. Congrats HBO! Bravo Lisa Kudrow! HBO should have a season 2, and maybe a 3 and 4 and 5! And guess what, if you do not like it, DON'T WATCH!
