> Plays Larry's manager Jeff Greene. Jeff, I just learned that you are Barry's brother and I have met you before at jewish celebrations through the Linsky/ Garlin relatives. I want to tell you how fabulous and funny your show is, and when I found out who you were, it was even more exciting. I have bought DVD series for everyone who has never seen this show. You are all hysterical, and am thrilled for your successes. Please send my regards to your brother and sister in law Laurie. We were sorority sisters.

Jeff, We are so addicted to the show. My wife and I can't get enough. My in-laws are good friends with your cousin. We will be down in Long Boat Key at the end of March for a party which I am sure she will be attending. We were wondering if you were going to be in the area. If so, we would love for you to stop by.

Jeff - Loved your (last) show last night (Vernon Hills Illinois). I hope you didn't really feel bad about bringing me and the wife up on stage - it was fun. Best time I've ever had at Zanies Keep up the great work and singing that lovely French Tune. Can you send a copy of the lyrics?

Any chance I could get a copy of that...HBO seems unwilling to put that half hour special out. Email me at shackney@optonline.net

Jeff, I dont know if you read this but i thought id write anyway. I wanted to apologize that so many people in athens were assholes during your stand up. I enjoying hearing you even though it was hard for you to talk because there were so many Hecklers.

Jeff, this message is for you. Thank God there's someone else who recognizes "Car 54, Where Are You?" as being the greatest TV comedy of all time! (Trivia: When former Yiddish theater star Molly Picon appeared as the elderly woman "Toody" and "Muldoon" were supposed to evict, but instead wound up being charmed by her, what was the name of her pet bird? Answer far below.) About ten years ago, it was my pleasure to speak with Al Lewis ("Schnauzer") at the restaurant on Bleecker Street which (sort of) bore his name ("Grampa Al's"; it really irks me when people know him only from "The Munsters"). Anyway, it was an Italian restaurant (go figure), and he'd greet people at the door several nights a week. So I took the opportunity to drill him with "Car 54" questions, which he happily answered. According to Lewis, the secret of the show's success was -- Nat Hiken! (Another good call, Garlin.) He said that where they filmed (I believe it was at soundstages in Queens), Nat was always the last one to leave at night, hours after they'd wrapped for the day. The reason: He would slave over every word of the script -- writing, re-writing, making sure the dialogue had the proper rhythm, etc. (Hiken's efforts were rewarded in '62 when he won an Emmy for directing "Car 54".) A few years later, I interviewed Neil Simon and asked him about Hiken, since both were writers for Sid Caesar's "Your Show of Shows". His reaction was positive, but kind of begrudging. Which is probably high praise indeed, since Simon is not known for verbal generosity towards his fellow writers. Anyhow, thought you'd like to know, since you're one of the relatively few who remembers. (Where did you live on W. 72nd? I go past almost daily.) Answer to the above question: The bird's name was "Yonkel". Raj NYCadets1@mac.com

hey jeff, i'm not sure if you read these or not, but i missed your show at gilda's place, i had no idea about it, i live minutes away from there, it sucks man, i would have loved to go, i bet it was promoted right in front of my face, i seem to miss everything, i have add and i'm an airhead, but anyways i saw your interview on the chicago tribune website, i too am a cubs fan, and yes, i am happy for the white sox too, too bad my buddies are rubbing it all in my face because they are hardcore sox fans, that was really nice that you supported gildas place and cancer patients, it all enlightened me. Hopefully you will come back and do another gig and i can make it there, i wanna have an opportunity to shake your hand! haha, take care man -- Scott Smith

Oh my god, have you noticed how many of Jeff's old friends are trying to get in touch with him? There isn't even one on Larry's thread...I guess fat people make more friends than bald people. Or maybe Jeff has all the good porn. Or food. Or both the porn AND the food. Yeah, Jeff is a prefferable college buddy to Larry. Message was edited by kingkungfoot at Oct 14, 2005 7:07 AM
