Cheryl talks Larry into adopting the Blacks, a family displaced by a hurricane, and Larry invents the "perfect" excuse for missing a pair of parties. Discuss the show!

Get rid of the blacks. It's not beleivable that Larry would be able to stand having even one extra person in his space much less an entire family. It was kind of funny for a couple of shows but they just get in the way now. (Wanda is fabulous however and hilarious.) The Blacks seem like thankless people with their hands out. They are disrespectful of the house ( smoking in Larry's house, doing nothing to earn a place in the house leaving Larry and his wife to almost wait on them) and in the last show when Larry suggested they get jobs and move out the looks passed between two black characters were pretty obvious... If I was black I would be offended at the way these people are being portrayed on the show. Meanwhile Cheryl and Larry and all their affluent friends are treating the Blacks like old friends that have actually earned their respect. It doesn't add up. I live in Bev Hills it would NEVER happen.

Great to see Curb back! This episode had some great storylines e.g the excuse, Jeff lying in the newlywed game but it didn't flow as well because of a few plot-holes that let down the really great bits of the episode. Like since when does Funkhouser and his wife have parties where they serve a penis cake... it just didn't fit in with Funkhouser's character and Jeff couldn't walk into an erotic bakery and pick up a penis cake without noticing... Jeff is all about food and sex! penis cake was a funny idea but just didn't work in this episode Anyway it was a good ending with the smoke alarm in the opening coming back to bite Larry and good acting this season by all the characters. Looking forward to some great awkward moments between Larry and his new family.

I wonder if Larry notice as an producer that if you have a beautiful woman on any T.V. show, that the more body parts you reveal of the actress the more your ratings goes up. I also wonder if producers/makers of the show notice sometimes as visitors flipping through channels if the makers of the show have an attractive woman/actress showing her feet more often people will come back to watch. And of course we as non-perverted citizens would like for woman/actress to expose there body parts more appropriately. And feet is it. "Cheryl show your toes, I know there perfect!"

It would be nice for Cheryl to show her feet bare more often, close up shots. Like for example the episode where Larry lost his wallet or booklet, interrupted the neighbors house I believe and at the end had to end up paying another neighbor $500. Well at the end when they were sitting in the lawn chairs reading, the camera could have move back more, and Cheryl "SHOULD HAVE BEEN BAREFOOT!!!!". That would have been beautiful for an ending.

It's true that is would not be long for the Sopranos, and that show was used to long layoffs already. My feeling on the show was that it was one of the top (maybe the top) shows of all time, but I think it was extended a little too long. I definitely would watch the movie if they had one, don't get me wrong, but I think it would probably be a letdown. -- Edited by curb2020 at 09/19/2007 10:47 AM

Meet the Blacks and meet the black penis cake,...LOL!

Kudos Larry David! The sillier this show gets, the more I love it! What a way to start off another season,... A crappy smoke detecter that he literally beats the crap out of, a penis cake that everyone raves about except the little girl that it traumatized, and of course the Blacks. I think the coolest member of the Blacks' family is the crazy brother who is the only one who was'nt displaced by the hurricane but ended up living with the Davids anyway. I think he and Larry are going to be the perfect match of comical wits as the season progresses. Now if U will excuse me, I have to go get dressed for a party tonight that I actually missed last night. -- Peace 2 U Always, S h a d o w -- Edited by shadowmusic at 09/18/2007 11:14 PM

The awkward thing about live-action show or movie reunions is that the characters age, and there is often an awkward plot exposition in order to explain what happened since the last show. RE: Seinfeld reunion: That's a great point, but I heartily disagree when it comes to the Sopranos. Provided it's done within the next three years. Even if its after then, Chase can revisit these characters later in life. Sil recovered from his coma but now bald and playing in a rock and roll band, Tony retired and living in Vegas selling herbalife, and AJ as the man....come on, the Sopranos as a movie is one of the last reasons for me to look forward to the future!

"Or maybe the show has finished it's course. Larry, you and Jerry get back together and put Seinfeld on the large screen. If the Simpsons can do it, so can you." I loved Seinfeld and consider myself a huge fan. However, if Seinfeld made a movie today it would be a ridiculous caricatured piece of crap. How many reunion type movies or shows are any good after ten years off the air? Not really any. You are forgetting one key fact: the Simpsons is a cartoon, so it can go on forever. The awkward thing about live-action show or movie reunions is that the characters age, and there is often an awkward plot exposition in order to explain what happened since the last show. Never mind the whole Michael Richards controversy. There is no chance of a movie, and I hope that no Sopranos movie gets made either.

........Maybe Mr. David was distracted and preoccupied with his current domestic situation that affected his usual clever, hilarious storytelling. Or maybe the show has finished it's course. Larry, you and Jerry get back together and put Seinfeld on the large screen. If the Simpsons can do it, so can you. ^^Wow, you obviously have no comedic sense or appreciation for good humor. On the contrary. The beauty of David's brand of TV comedy is the essence of what comedy is: believable reactions to believable situations told in a clever, funny way. In season one, when Larry has an orchestra set up on the lawn of that jerk and play wagner, it was believable and genius, it rang true as a way of revenge, and therefore hilarious. this year, to think that for one minute he would have a N.O. family that behave like ogres and allow them to live with him for more than one hour is simply asking too much belief to suspend. The old Larry, the real Larry would have thrown them out toot sweet. He's simply jumped the shark. Episode 2 was better and maybe we have to swallow a lot of nonsense to get to the main part of the arc. okay, we'll see. I just expect the best out of the best, and this ain't the best, in my view......now go report me because i'm not sucking up to larry....

Not only did Loretta Black put out the cigarette in the cake, but aren't all cigarettes rolled with special paper so when you don't puff for a few minutes they go out? I still love Curb! I also enjoyed the "Then why did you take home the balls?" line. Classic!! ----------------------------- If Loretta Black had put her cigarette out in the food I was eating, she would be looking for another place to stay the next day. But here's the thing, she did put the cigarette out, therefore no fire. I hope that family finds a way to redeem themselves next week, but from the preview it does not look that way.

Funkhouser-what a Loser! No wonder Larry wanted to skip his party. The man is a hostile jerk. At one point, when Larry tried to leave, Funkhouser actually THREW him back into his chair. I can't imagine a more awful person to get stuck in a room with. And The young mother of the Black family (Vivica Fox?) was the perfect foil for larry. He has pissed her off enough for her to have an attitude toward him, and Larry of course is intimidated by her. I'm sure that in the following episode (which I haven't seen yet) The Black family will prove to be very ungrateful and hard to please. And when Larry finally puts his foot down, everyone will blame HIM! Great show. I'm glad to see it back.
