This episode was funny, although the confrontation scene at the party with the various minorities was a little forced. I've never cared for Funkhauser's character either. All in all though, above average episode, great Wanda scene, great concept with the racist/homophobic dog... So many personal parallels too with the bowtie / phone answering stuff... my fiance swears that I'm becoming more like Larry each day.

By far the best episode yet, my wife and i were on the floor for the entire show. The " we need to talk" all the way to Larry trying to fake a stutter to use the Handycapped stall was a riot!!!! The fight with the guy in the wheelchair was incredible...what's not to like about this episode. It was awsome!!!!!!!!

I think it's too easy to think that the dog is racist, or homophobic. I think the dog hates liberals. Larry claims to be liberal, but the lesbiens said he isn't. First episode, everyone says that larry is inconsiderate, but he claims to be considerate. Larry claims a lot of things that other people don't see in him. I think the black people on the street were just meant to throw us off. Then, we were thrown for a loop with Rosie. The idea that Wanda is gay is not plausable in my book. First off, Wanda hasn't come out in real life. She's certainly not going to do it on a sitcom, and the idea that Larry discovers she's gay this way would be just like Wanda coming out because she plays herself. I say Lib Hater. We'll see.

Larry is a national treasure.
The Comeback tried and it failed to do the same humor.

Not many shows can pull it off.
Weeds is trying too hard.
Extras is fantastic and Family Guy is sweet!

And I'm a huge fan of Entourage!
Did you see how nice Beverly D'Angelo is holding up!
And she's doing more comedy
go see her in the trailer for gamers at www.gamers-themovie.com

Yes, that is true. Hes been attacked by a lesbian on the show. I guess it just goes to show that Larry can never be truly accepted anywhere, even where he is "revered"

The lesbian receptionist and her partner in Mel Brooks' office in Season 4 didn't seem to like Larry.

When I heard the dog's name was "Sheriff", the first thing that hit my mind was Clapton's song.

I kept waiting for somebody to waste that anti-social mutt.

Too over-the-top for California, huh?

My only disappointment with this episode was that the dog only barked at Wanda instead of going straight for her throat.

FYI Ann Landers or Dear Abby once wrote that it's OK to use a handicapped stall if no one's in the restroom.

Bob Einstein plays Marty Funkhauser.. He's better known for his character "Super Dave" Osborne.. He has been riding that bit like a pony since 1988.. I guess ya gotta pay the bills somehow.. Something I didn't know about him is that he's Albert Brooks' brother.. He also was on the Smothers Brothers Show and a television show from Canada called "Bizarre" with John Byner(where I first saw him). His whole family is in "THE BIZZ" and Bob has done a lot of writing, producing and executive producing of the stuff he has been in.

Larry's dog is a beautiful example of an American Bulldog. Long legs, lean muscular body, great head. Look menacing but the ones I've been around are gentlemen.

I like the "idea" that Sheriff barked at Rosie because she has a black lover. The end of "The Bowtie" has been buggin me--I feel much better now!

Re Marty Funkhouser: Bob Einstein was excellent in this episode (loved "take a shit" line), but kept seeing Super Dave Osborne character no matter how hard I tried not to.

I hope it doesn't happen but I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year for CYE. All shows run their course eventually and an episodic comedy series with no ongoing central narrative or plot lines, has a shorter track than a dramatic series. There are just too many alternatives out there today. Far more people have cable now than just ten years ago. I don't think we'll see many +5 years series from here on out.

CYE is still great fun but it's no longer fresh. Nobody's fault. It just happens. I'm going to enjoy the rest of the season but will be surprised if it's not the last.
