It used to be that people respected the fact that people did their time and were therefore "ex cons" now they are "offenders" deserving perpetual punishment until they die. Maybe some of the worst indeed do. But with 500,000 - 600,000 registered sex offenders in the US...I have a hard time believing they are all monsters. Like one poster said....you can be labeled a sex offender for urinating beside your car, if someone happens to see you do it. So I was not offended by Larry David's portrayal. I think a little humor on this topic is much needed. And to answer the Admins question, I do not think Larry was wrong for inviting a sex offender to dinner. And for all the religiously persuaded that disagree, remember what the Bible says "those without sin, cast the first stone" In other words...don't throw stones...

That's the kind of thing you might want to verify before you commit it to print. If you don't know how to use the IMDb or Google yet, maybe someone can explain to you how they work.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but I'm pretty sure the actor who played the neo-Con brother in "The Seder" actually pled guilty to possession of child pornography. I think he also played the father on ALF. If I'm right, then Larry David is playing a really twisted mind f*ck with us. I love the show and even liked this episode, but felt a bit creeped out by what I just mentioned.

In reply to the question about Curb Your Enthusiasm fans who don't like Seinfeld, I'm one of those. I didn't hate Seinfeld and thought it had some funny episodes but overall I wasn't a fan. I am, however, a huge fan of Curb. The best comedy show I have ever seen. The seder episode was hilarious. Larry using the occasion of a family/friends get together to accuse a guest of stealing, the whole sub plot about the doctor getting called away for emergency surgery and of course the clincher with the sex offender, (by the way wasn't that Rob Cordrry of "The Daily Show?") volunteering that he knows mouth to mouth!

I think there are a few things here about Mark being the thief... 1) Mark was the thief and may have actually got a page from the hospital. Just because he got the page doesn't mean he is not the thief. 2) He stayed up so late during surgery that he didn't get up early to steal the paper. 3) He got caught by Larry and didn't take the paper again. Oh, and how is asking someone if they took their paper an inappropriate question? Maybe rude, but I say appropriate in light of the circumstances. Great episode. I dont understand how people like this show, but consistantly have sticks up thier ass about everything. I could swear everyone that is smart enough to get this shit should really be more open minded as a whole. I guess the Law and Order: SVU ENTIRE SERIES about sex offenses is ok, just dont make fun of the way Sex Offenders are forced to spend the rest of thier lives with a scarlet letter on thier chest. But fucking advertise that some guy who could have been convicted of date rape when he was 18 for all you know has to report his whereabouts at all times. Why not just allow his neighbors to have video cameras in his house, including his bathroom? Keep his ass under constant surveillance, you never know when he might be going about his normal life and not posing a threat to anyone. While it is true that Sex offenders have a higher repeat offender rate than most crimes, I feel like having to go door to door or put up flyers is ridiculous. They maintain a sex offender website that anyone interested could find out the information. They shoudl have who they are and what they were convicted of on the website, and that should be the only way people could find out. Anyone concerned enough about it could then form a ration opinion of the situation, instead of batching everyone into to one general paranoia-friendly group of sex offenders. USA has got some serious probs, lol.

I've got it-I figured out the ending. Mark-was the thief. But another Doctor had left a seder to perform emergency cosmetic surgery. That's why Larry nodded his head in the show's last moment. He realized that even though Mark was the thief, and Larry made fun of Mark for having to leave the Seder to perform emergency cosmetic surgery,a cosmetic surgeon CAN perform emergency surgery. It just wasn't Mark doing the surgery.

Also, it makes sense that Marc didn't steal the paper the next morning because he knew Larry was on to him (and maybe even suspected that Larry would have been watching for him after having experienced what a kook Larry is firsthand).

We noticed upon re-viewing just now (as a previous poster touched on) that the doctor in the LA Times article's name is "Sidney Levine", who left his _own_ family seder in order to reattach the hand. It follows from this that: 1. Marc had nothing to do with the hand surgery, and may well have been the paper-thief. Which means that Larry was RIGHT!!! or maybe, 2. Marc was called in to help out, but just isn't mentioned in the article. But then, why should any Larry-enemies get the benefit of the doubt? Also,

I watched this episode 3 times already and I think it's the funniest one so far this season. Larry was just superb throughout - especially the scenes in which he tried to wake Ethel. Also, his facial expressions and remarks throughout the dinner were great! This episode had me laughing out loud each time I watched it - Larry's done it again - genius!!
