Episode 18: "Something Very Expensive"

Alma proposes forming a bank, and looks to familiar faces to run it. To test himself, Swearengen grants audience to a long line of supplicants; talks with Farnum and Miss Isringhausen prove most illuminating. Humiliated by Bullock, an angry claim owner looks to "square the scales." Wolcott's inner demons test his alliance with Tolliver, and prompt Stubbs and Utter to covert action.

At no time did I mention anything about her being a coward or anything remotely that could be consided a slur or slanderous/libelous. spoken or written. She turned out to be a Florence NIghtengale in that she took care of many people over the course of her life time. She acted as a nurse later on but was on occasion a prostitute as well as a Scout, river swimmer, Indian fighter and a drunkard.

Like Nightengale, Jane was a hypochondriac. It seems to be well documented and the story line kind of follows it. Her mentioning to Doc that she's dying when in fact, she is quite healthy in spite of her self stated constant state of drunken-ness.

Our sweet Charlie, smart too, didn't fall to Al's play, as I think I kinda expected he would in his vulnerable mood. Poor beat up Jane, just glad we got to see her this week, but wonder what happened and by whom?

Al, looking good once again, making a strong comeback, and sexier than ever" Loved the scene between Al and Alma, and Sophia asking if she could go downstairs, she's allowed to go down to the hotel lobby? Also Al's talking to Merrick, his heart was showing again and I love when you see it. Things are so sad for Joanie, something tells me we will be seeing a partnership with Joanie and Trixie. Trixie getting frustrated at the hardware store and reporting all to Al or appearing so. Can't wait for the confrontation between Alma and Martha next week, can't help but feel for both of them.
Another great episode that I'll watch again and again this week!

I don't know yet why, the HBO Web folk restrict us to the topic of episode 18 on April 17 -- when Episode 19 has already been aired...but "anyways..." I have this missive to offer to David Milch...and I would hope that some lackey may carry the tale... (Perhaps Richardson)...(and thank you to whomever does)...To you sir... The Serendipity Award of 2005... awarded by a post production supervisor and several other fans from a Seattle PBS affiliate... for the immortal words of E.B. Farnum... "Have we a new pope?" Bravo, sir! We remain your loyal fans. A literate treat for all to behold! And for the HBO execs that back you and bring us such a gift... our undying graititude and admiration. Bravo all!

Mt. Rushmore was not even dreamed of. There were no roads to speak of. The concept of tourism was alien.

You don't believe that, even in 1903, the town fathers weren't thinking a little ahead?
