I think that there is a few things that need to be cleared up about Justin Fatica.
With him, you have to take the good things with the bad, you really do.
I was one of those overweight girls in the film, I was on the team he took to Vermont. You really should have been there. The change in these kids at Rice High was intense. Even the change in me and the rest of the team was intense. It changed my outlook on life.
So there are good things.
But there are bad things too, like everything else.
His views on homosexuality and his views on women are a little extreme....really very extreme. They do more harm than good most times. Much of the time Justin says things without thinking. He doesn't check himself where he should.

The kids in the ministry really would do anything for him, and his wife is supportive, but neither the kids nor Mary is a fool. Mary is a strong woman who supports her husband, but also has her own views and her own mind. She is a good woman, and I won't hear a word against her. Talk to her on your own sometime, you'll see.

Like all things in life, you have to take the good with the bad. He's not perfect, and I'm not defending his tactics to any degree, but you do have to admit, he is changing lives.

Hi Justin,(HARD AS NAILS)
I know in my heart you are truly a messenger SENT BY GOD. Those who have made statements against you and your ministry, are those I am praying for gods great power to remove the blinds covering thier eyes and souls, so they can someday see the truth you are teaching. I am 48 years old and you have given me a new awakening that I thought was not possible for me. I have been sick for many years and unable to regain my spirituality. But through your message on HBO I have new FAITH that JESUS still LOVES me and wants to make me whole again. Your approach is just what the world needs. Someone to be HARD AS NAILS and tell it LIKE IT TRULY IS! All these responding to you, well, your being HEARD, (negative or positive,) your giving them something to keep in mind. I am eager to watch you as your ministry grows bigger and bigger! I only hope to meet you in person in the future.

i was saved on a catholic church retreat, and i belive this documentury is estial for someone to see there need for a savior "Jesus" and Justin makes it real. Do we daily remember the price and abuse Jesus took for us do you ever think about being beaten beyound recognition, like it says in Isaiah. no matter who rejects you the end will be a comment from Jesus "well done good and faithful servant". We pray for your ministry and that God will continue to send you faithful people to train....

I once knew Justin and served with him while at college. I met Justin at a Catholic University in NJ and there helped him serve within a charismatic ministry of the Catholic Church. I would later leave the ministry and the college for personal reasons to attend an Evangelical university in NY. When I saw this documentary I was shocked, because like I said, I knew Justin personally. He has not changed one bit. Indeed, his tactics are the same when I last saw him, 10 years ago. He is a great person with a great heart for God, but in an institution that adds to the gospel the historic, man-made traditions of the Catholic Church that make the simple truths of the gospel on salvation confusing. Legalism and "mortal sins," should you focus on them, will destroy you in the end. Preaching to mass crowds using fiery language and great emotion to preach against sins without mention of John 3 on how the sinner is to be born again, will only lead the individual towards a life of constant worry, legalism, and "mortal sin" hysteria. Meaning, the sinner does not understand why he or she acts the way he or she does -- it must be revealed to them by divine dispensation from God. He or she must be born again. I simply cannot relate how much this documentary depicts the experiences I had with Justin when I was with his Catholic ministry. Legalism is not the answer, for we now live in an age of grace. Jesus died for us on the cross for all our sins, to have us NOT worry about masturbation all the time, being a mortal sin, per Catholic teaching, endangering a believer's salvation 24/7. For throughout the entire documentary, there was no mention that a sinner must be born again. Meaning, that the person born into this world was born spiritually dead to God and must be "born again" by the Holy Spirit through the person accepting Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior, in prayer and before God. That the person must confess to God and not to some priest. Children are excluded from this requirement, but as soon as the conscience develops, that person now has a knowledge of good and evil. Without such a conversion, according to the Bible, that person's soul has not been saved -- he or she is trusting in his or her own self by doing good works for salvation. A great documentary but a chilling reminder of my past experiences with charismatic and Catholic teachings.

This man is very in your face... and I liked it! This was a good documentary for me to see. Like some have said on this board, I felt like he was talking to me. This documentary was absolutely fantastic. I hope HBO makes more movies like this.

Ya know... this little documentary got my husbands attention. Isn't that what it's supposed to be about? I could care less if this guy is Catholic, Lutheran or Baptist! I have been praying for his salvation for 7 years and never has he watched ANY program that merely mentions the name of Jesus. He actually watched it and wants to see more of this guy! Praise God, somebody has gotten him thinking.
Keep it up!
p.s. I'm a Baptist. 8-)

Please stop calling this young man a youth minister. Legitimate Youth Ministers in the Catholic church are trained, educated professionals. This guy can claim none of these titles, and that matters. There are many many qualified and quality Youth Ministers in the Church today working hard and our credibility is soundly shaken by megalomaniacs like this giving us a bad reputation. It's akin to calling a snake oil salesman a Doctor.

This guy is clinically insane. From his blank stare, his contained violence, his conviction he is invincible and his articulation point to one very sick human. Why the RC Church permits this guy
to 'entertain' anywhere is a mystery, I thought they had enough lawsuits from sexual predation to last them well into the next century. If HBO's aim was to dismiss Roman Catholicism as
an insane cult, they succeeded and I wonder why catholics find this clown of any rational use whatsoever.
Listen to his speech patterns, look into his eyes - the impression that this is one hombre on the very edge of our reality shouts at you.

Im a born again christian, former catholic, who when i became saved, years ago left the catholic church, because they focused so much much on religion and not on Jesus, and being born again,by grace,etc...its not about mary, etc its about Jesus!anyway, this guy justin Is the real deal, hes is working for GOD,and if you dont belive it,well ill pray for you.If you dont like his style, then find your own style, god uses all sorts of styles, but like he said,at least im trying!!as long as you keep trying, you can never fail,in Gods eyes, because it the HOLY SPIRITS WORK,TO MAKE IT HAPPEN,AND YOURS JUST TO TRY,AND PRAY,AND READ YOUR BIBLE,ETC... I HOPE TO MEET JUSTIN,SOON,I ATTEND A NONDINOM,CHURCH IN MD. CCF.DAVIDSONVILLE,PRAISE GOD FOR JUSTIN!!THANK YOU JESUS!AND KEEP THOSE NEGATIVE DEMON POSSESED DISCORAGERS AWAY,THANK YOU LORD AND JESUS NAME,AMEN,GREG 46.

Fatica was my catholic campus minister at the high school I attended. He is a nice guy but VERY intense. It turns some people off, but brings some people to god. I was already interested in retreats and having a connection with Jesus before fatica came to my school, and some of the changes he made made me uncomfortable. For example, he started a retreat where part of it you walk into a room blindfolded and get hit and screamed at. I'm sorry, i don't need to be traumatized to feel close to god. I'm interested to see how he has expanded hard as nails when i watch the film tomorrow

Another disturbed person hiding behind the cloth of Jesus Christ. Watching this "documentary" I see a man needing his father's acceptance. Watch closely the two of them trying to interact in the basement archery range. They never even come close to connecting. So, Justin finds Jesus and screams and yells and beats himself (or has someone hiting him with a chair), berates others as he travels the northeast bringing people to Christ. This is a simple portrait of a dysfunctional human being - in that forum it is interesting. I would strongly caution parents and their children to be very, very careful of those who hide behind religious icons - so called "charasmatic" christian evangelists (most of them are amongst us and unlike screaming, raging Justin, quiet and simple - remain equally as dangerous). Well, the program got my attention and I wonder if our current culture is allowing more of these "lost" people to flourish.
