What saddens me the most is how spend our time talking about inane topics such as what celebrity wore what to the Grammys, and not spend any time or pay attention to what is happening around the world. As the documentary mentioned that this is the first genocide of the 21st century and we have completed turn the other way and ignore what has happened in Darfur.

If we learn anything from history, more often than not mass atrocities, ethnic cleansing and genocide are brought to an end down the barrel of a gun.
The genocide in Rwanda was ended by military action, ethnic cleansing in former Yugoslavia was brought to an end by military action as was the Holocaust. I just don?t know if sanctions, divestment, or the shame and blame game will be effective in stopping the violence. And if does it will be far too late. It seems to me the only way to end crises like the genocide in Darfur is through strong military action.

What can be done to help the situation in Darfur? By that I mean what can I do? The last quote on the film "The people could still be in the camps 20 years from now" left a sort of "Yes we're providing humanitarian aid, but that's not enough with relation to helping rebuild a destroyed culture" and no answer of how individuals can help.

I just finished watching Sand and Sorrow and my heart is broken. What can a person do to help? How can we care for these people?

I just want to say that I can't wait to see The SAND AND SORROW Documentary. Actully, I just completed a detailed scrapbook on the current conditions in Darfur for school. I've learned alot and I now understand how big of a problem the Darfur crisis is. I'm really looking foward to this production!
