Season 7. Anywhere to go after this?

I really enjoyed Season 6 and I look forward to what they are going to do with the characters next season, but is there anywhere to go after that? I just don't see a whole lot more that they can do..

Is it just me or do I sense an end to the series this year? Entourage is the story of four buddies making their way through Hollywood together and living in the moment. Now, the Boys are starting to take themselves seriously. Turtle is in college, Eric is engaged and even Drama seems to have broken through as an actor. Only Vince is living for the day. But even though he insists he'd be happy for the ride if he wound back up in Queens, the truth is that after he almost lost everything last season, he now seems to appreciate his career and what he has to lose. And Ari, of course, is on top of world. The only question is what is his next conquest? NBC? Paramount? The White House?

Something most viewers miss is who the central character is in the series. It's E. Anyone notice Kevin Connolly has top billing and his arc is usually the main story? So where is his character going this coming season? He has a real job. He's getting married to Sloan. And when he goes the series is over. There is no Entourage without E.

Posters here have long bemoaned the loss of the spontaneity and watching these guys living their lives on the edge, but with time the Boys have matured. Real life pushes its way in slowly and the magic we loved in the beginning has given way to more of the mundane the rest of us live. As the seventh season opens I think more of reality will direct the Boys lives.

You'll get your wish, haters! I see the end coming soon. It is rare to watch a series that is able to tell a complete story. The Sopranos was one. Entourage will be another.

Even though I love the show, I really think that season 6 was a real let down. It seemed to me that the story arc had been completed when Vince got the call from Scorsese at the end of season 5. At that point Vince had risen, fallen, and made his comeback.

Last season, E's character had some conflict, and was interesting. Drama and Turtle had good seasons, too.
Vince's character had nothing going on. To me, Ari's character was the weakest. It was more like a caricature. I imagine that was the fault of the writers.

To me, the show is most interesting when there is conflict. Maybe E getting married? Maybe E has a fallout with Vince caused by E's new job. Maybe Ari will get back to some sort of balance between the maniac and a human being. I hope so. I don't want another off season, like this past one.

Excellent points 9Helix. I felt a lot of the storylines at the end of the season came out of left field. Sometimes that can be cool.. I liked it when Scorsse called Vince at the end of season 5. Clearly we don't have to 'see' everything. But to your point develop the ideas better and the show will be more satisfying...

Last season was sort of a growth season where the guys really became grownups so I'm really looking forward to the next season to see where they go from here. I think there's a lot of potential.

In all honesty they can go in any direction they wish and with any writer so long as it's cohesive and the story arcs make sense again. I've no issue with the direction Season 6 went...the boys are older than they were 6 years ago so a maturation process is inevitable...

My issue was with how the developments in their lives this season were scripted. Eric and Sloane getting engaged? Okay...no problem...happy to see it in fact, but there was little to no indication throughout the season that the engagement was even a remote possibility...esp in regard to Sloane. Too much time was spent on Ashley and not enough back and forth between E and Sloane to even get a real gauge as to her emotions.

Johnny was great in the finale...still making him sing for his supper...but there wasn't enough demoralizing done on the Five Towns set or beyond to really seem to push him to that point of humility, frustration, and honest self-reflection.

Ari's arc with Klein seemed forced as a justification to truly be an ass to Lloyd...nothing more really. Lloyd should have left earlier than he did then they could have started the Terrance buy-out earlier and fleshed it out more dropping Klein altogether. Until Ep11 I didn't even enjoy watching the scenes with Ari...sad as he's the best developed and acted char on the show and the scripting had him so one dimensional most of the season.

I've always felt Vince was the least interesting and important char. He's the tie that binds them all, but the show's always been more about the rest of them. But Hell, where was he this season? Playing pool or fucking in the pool...wow. He may as well been on set of his shoot all season and only shown on phone calls for as much as he was worth to the development of any of the plot lines.

The only plot line i thought was well scripted and developed was with Turtle and JLS. Whether you like the direction it went or not, it was still the most consistent and well-developed arc of the season.

Again no issue with the overall direction the season took. I trust Doug and the rest of his creative team implicitly with the vision of the show (he got us this far after all). I've always loved that the show wraps up all the arcs at the end of every season. This time though the wrapping seemed forced based on the lack of development throughout the season to get to the endpoint.

I also don't think 6 was a complete bust...there were moments of pure greatness. I would put Ari stepping off of the elevator at TMA in 11 with "It's me Bitches" in the background as one of the greatest moments of the series, but that warrants kudos to the music supervision not the writing. And again Drama's monologue in 12 was solid writing and performance...it just seemed marred by not really being justified.

So for 7 and beyond (hopefully) there are endless places to take it. I just hope it makes sense. Woes and trouble around E's wedding plans? Great! Vinny gets a SAG award or even an Oscar nod for the Darabont film? Terrific! Turtle becomes a player again, but JLS comes back from New Zealand? Awesome. Drama's ego gets in the way of his holding deal? Can't wait. Ari's buy out yields unforseen problems? I would only expect so. Just make the writing consistent again so by the time the end of Season 7 rolls around it will wrap up nicely and the season taken as a whole makes sense...please...

I heard they hired Rossane to write the scripts to give more mothers a reason to watch just like jrenai. Unfortunately this message was a joke.

over on Lloyd's thread, Rex popped in and says maybe that scripts would be done by early next year so probably a summer premiere would be following that. I would say Summer of 2010.

Curb Your Enthusiasm hasn't lost its touch, and that show can relate to anyone.

Unfortunately, you have to be a fucking pussy to relate to a show like Entourage.

The best part of Curb your enthusiasm was that they made that Jesus painting joke where Larry David pisses all over and they think it's a miracle. Then he hangs onto her flab

ahahahahahahahahahahaha so funny.

This isnt a Disney fantasy movie either, so for me as long as the show makes me laugh then it can be as realistic as it needs to be in order to be somewhat believable to the rest of us that dont require so much fantasy to be entertained.......

But for those that need fantasy maybe try renting Peter Pan or Pete's dragon for some entertainment.

I'm sensing a little sarcasm, cubanbee and I completely agree. We don't watch these people because they live normal lives; we watch because most of us will never have the life that these people do. I hope they make the characters act and do a little more like they used to.
And I don't know about following the characters all the way into their 60s (getting old isn't fun) but maybe a look that far into the future would be a cool idea.

Cmon, guys. Who wants to watch movie stars living as such? It was really exciting watching Vince playing pool. Maybe next season we can watch him take out the trash. I don't want Turtle to waste his life, he went back to school so once the show is over he can get a good job, we should be happy about that. I'm so happy for E, no 30 year old Hollywood manager wants to be single. Plus now we can see Sloan and E going to Home Depot to pickout bathroom fixtures! I love the new Entourage!
