He did the big kiss ending with 'The Office.' So I guess he didn't want to repeat it.

The soundtrack features many Cat Stevens songs.

I agree, Dave. When Andy talks about the producers of Big Brother not being able to "wash their hands of this" I found myself whispering "yes" in agreement. When he lambasts the producers of reality TV for parading "the bewildered" before audiences to be sniggered at by "multi-millionaires" I nodded my head. And Andy's observation that the "Victorian freak show" never went away is absolutely correct. I'm glad Gervais and Merchant had the cajones to finally say what so many needed to hear.

I'm glad Gervais went out while the show is "on a high". Too many producers milk a show for all it's worth, stringing it out well past its sell-by date. I'll miss Andy and the gang, but the show ended when it should have ended, with no ambiguity and on a hopeful (but not saccharine) note. I can't wait to see what Gervais and Merchant cook up for the future! They are easily too of the savviest, wittiest satirists working in television today. I'm an American but I wonder if British audiences appreciate their humor more than American audiences?

I'm so UPSET!! Why is this the SERIES finale?? WHy not more seasons?? RIcky Gervais is a BRILLIANT comedic actor/writer.. his wit and situational comedy is pure genius!! I'm originally from England raised in the States and me and my family were THRILLED to have this show on.. I'm broken hearted.. BBC Office was only 2 seasons also.. is this his trademark.. to have 2 season shows..

The show was fantastic. Yes, I too would love to know the information on the songs in the finale episode. I have looked everywhere that I know to look to find out. HBO rocks!

Yes, it was Tea for the Tillerman. This final episode of Extras was some of the finest writing and acting I've seen in a long time. I've been trying to find some way of communicating this to Ricky Gervais, but without luck. Maybe he will read this board. Thank you, Ricky, for the marvelous series and the remarkable ending. -- Ego venit , Ego vidi , Ego trinus super meus own feet: I came, I saw, I tripped over my own feet.

I think the final song is "Tea for the Tillerman" by Cat Stevens. Did not particularly notice other music in the episode

Absolutely loved the series finale! Ricky's speech towards the end was brilliant. Can anyone tell me the names of the songs used in the finale? I have been looking but cannot find anything....

although i agree with all of you.i to have been a great fan of the show from the begining.i was depressed for maggie.she has been the dim witted bestfriend of andy's for so long and when she was going through her strife he was self absorbed.the dung in the face was alittle much i think.he did however make it up to her in the end.i couldn't help but wish it would have ended on a high note for both of them. cheers

1st time visiting here, but just watched the Extra Finale repeat and I thought it was brilliant. I've followed this show since it started. This ep was, I thought the best...and Maggie was as lovable and heartbreaking as ever. Putting Kate Bush's ' This Woman's Work ' to Maggie was beautiful. Cheers to them all! -- "If you are the end, then I am near you. "

That finale was perfect. Absolutely perfect. The harangue before leaving the BB house was spot on. Every last word. Bravo.

It seemed to > come out of nowhere and although I liked the finale I > did find it depressing and very poorly edited. Did > anyone else notice how it had very poor scene > transition? Did the show face a similar fate as > Deadwood? After HBO's poor treatment of Deadwood, I can understand why you would be suspicious about the sudden end of Extras. However, Extras only did two seasons and a special, because that is the way that Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant wanted it. This is the same thing that they did with The Office (the UK version of course). Their explanation is that they didn't want to rehash the same stories over and over again just for the sake of extending the show. They would rather go out on top, before the show starts to decline. Whether or not it would decline is another argument, but the decision to end the show was apparently made strictly by the creators. I am pretty sure that, even though it was never a huge ratings hit for HBO, it did not cost much to make at all (and part of the funding came from the BBC). Also, I am sure plenty of celebrities were lining up to appear on the show, so HBO would have had no problem extending it. While I love these characters and would like to see more episodes, I respect Gervais and Merchant's creative decision to end it on a high note. I look forward to their next project, which I am sure will also be tremendous. P.S. I agree to some extent that the 80 minute format felt a little awkward compared to the half-hour format, but it still had plenty of classic moments.

It was Kate Bush. It was driving me nuts. I haven't heard that since High School, eons ago. A friend of mine used to sing her stuff. Anyway, I liked the soundtrack--was hoping to find other credits on the website, but no luck. There were a couple of otherh 80s type songs too.
