Have a comment about the site or a suggestion for a new or existing feature? Post them here.

If you have a complaint, post that here as well, with a few basic guidelines:

* Don't use profanity in your complaint (that goes for comments and suggestions as well!).

* Don't complain about the behavior of another user if you are engaging in the same type of behavior yourself.

* Personal attacks against others users, the mods or the admins will be deleted.

Complaints about deletions will NOT be addressed here. If you have a question about why something of yours was deleted please PM me directly and I will be happy to look into for you.

Thanks!

Admin - Magialuna is trying to discourage others from posting by threatening law suits! I'm sure that's her real full name, that everyone outside these board knows her as.....

What is being addressed here is a simple case of application of double standards inre : portrayedbyjim and mateo. As a remote observer to these boards what I saw were 2 posters with a gleeful , almost exuberent approach to the detached weltschmerz of some pretty miserable people.
Nothing I read from them exhibited the tone of menace or direct personal attack . However , indirectly, they sought out and rebutted what can casually be called YELLOW JOURNALISM and used the devices of the THEATER OF THE ABSURD to reduce the narrative to the level of lowest common denominator, which it deserved. More obvious was their willigness to use themselves as a punchline as often as they carved malignancy from others.
In these times of easy frustration isnt it better to laugh than to scorn?

And since I am all about finding solutions, here's one that's been floated many times.

Rather than outright banishment, why not have a timeout? If things get too heated, mods could click a button and give a poster 2 days to think before they next speak.

I wouldn't impose a set number of times a member could go to the box, each case should be handled differently but if it were up to me, unless the poster is threatening or repeatedly bigoted, I'd say they could keep going back indefinitely. But that's me. I have a thicker skin than your legal department lets you have.

I can't speak for others but I wouldn't have a problem with a 2 day cooling off period, though that's 2 whole days I can use to come up with new ways to tell someone to get bent. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Anyway, just something to consider.

I have a complaint.

I understand HBO has certain legal obligations. I understand that your legal department is so wimpy that you have even censored Maher's own words, including vag*na. What I don't understand is why people have to be banned over words.

If its threatening, show em the door. If its just colorful, what's wrong with the moderators moderating with a simple deletion?

We've lost too many good posters over hurt feelings and quick banishments. From Don and Zane to Mat and PBJ.

Is deleting really that taxing? Is the uproar over banishment really worth any time you've saved?

I don't care about their ideology, I care what they contributed to the board.

On the one hand, you've got a poster that goes out of his way to instigate fighting. And its all he has ever contributed, including spending months posting in a thread just because he knew it pissed people off.

On the other hand, you've got a dozen or more posters that enjoy heated debate, have friendly conversations, and occasionally slap around a troll or two.

Do you really want to send the message that the former is more welcome?

Its your board but consider this, if you keep banning the ones that contribute, all you're going to have left is a bunch of trolls and the instigator. You really believe that's the best thing for the community?

Admin17,

Please reinstate Portrayedbyjim and MateoSD. We've all read back through the Opinion of the Right thread to try to understand why they were banned and none of us see any justification for bannings.

I respectfully suggest reinstating Mat and PBJ. And no, I don't give one flying, errrr, you know, what they did.

The more you try to control the posts, they worse things have gotten. When will you realize this? Let us be and save bannings and deletions for the worst of the worst.

Just a suggestion.

It's obvious that banning has no rhyme or reason. Could you tighten it up, to ban for all who make the same kind of infractions or for none? It just looks haphazard and skewed; really, it's impossible to make sense of the process.

To the members who spend any amount of time here, it looks like this: One person can be whooshed away for what seems to be very little, while a guy down the hall marches around in full Klan regalia and gets no notice. Hmmm?
