Is this the season that Tony Romo emerges as the biggest superstar in
the NFL?

We'll see how they do this year. If they don't get a playoff win yet again, something's got to give. I'm not saying it'd start with Tony Romo, but at the same time he may not be the answer for the Cowboys.

Tony Romo is the man! He has rallyed the team better than anybody ever has. Troy Aikman was a great QB but he had the biggest and best offensive line in the NFL. Not to mention Emmit, Irvin, Novacheck, and the Moose. Jimmy Johnson built that team to win. Romo is surronded by a bunch of good to average players with a few superstars and he is winning. He is young and allittle excitable. He will settle down and lead them to a championship soon. His mechanics are great, proper form and a quick release. Not to mention that he can scramble. Plus he makes good decisions, his TD to INT ratio is better than most. He should have never been holding kicks thats the job for a backup. Plus if the recivers would have caught the balls that hit em in the hands we wouldnt even be talking about that. TO as good as he is dropped more passes that year than he has in any other season of his pro career. Plus there defense was floundering, my sons high school team could have scored on them that year. And again there was old school , washed up, conservative Parcells. If it were up to him he would probably still had that coke headed moron Shockley starting. He sucked at UGA, and he is gonna stay were he belongs in ATL. (A BACKUP) But knowing ATL they will let him start, but we all know what good decisions they make. Remember that loser M Vick. He sucked from day 1. Bottom line Romo is going to do great things and will evolve into a elite hall of fame QB. But as far as a Super Bowl ring. He can only do so much alone, the 21 other players have to step up and do there part. It is after all a team sport. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS

BGJ and Pursuit of Happiness:

Yes! You guys understand.

We're not making excuses for Tony Romo's playoff losses... but if you want to get technical, they weren't completely his fault and i'll even venture to say that the one vs. NY wasn't his fault AT ALL.

All this baloney about him not being able to play in pressure situations... How about when he threw 5 INTs and still went out there and led his team to victory by completing key passes to get into field goal situations? How about that thursday night game against Brett Favre and the only other (at the time) one loss NFC team the Packers? Everyone said Romo would be nervous playing on the same field as his "idle".... remember? And Jessica Simpson was at that game... but no one ever mentions that. Romo was 19 of 30 for 309 yards with 4 touchdowns and QB rating of 123.5. That was against a very good Green Bay defense.

What about last year's game at Philly? Dallas had just finished their loss to New England (Romo played pretty well), a shaky win against Minnesotta, and their bye week. People questioned their momentum and called this Evening game a "Huge test" for Tony and this young team. Hmmmm... 38 to 17 Dallas! Romo was 20 of 25 for 324 yards with 3 touchdowns and a QB rating of 141.7!

These games are high pressure situations and Romo came through. Are you gonna say that Dan Marino wasn't a good QB because he never won a Super Bowl? He lost a heck of lot of big games... Was he a choker?

I've copied and pasted the following from espn.com because people tend to forget what led to the fumbled snap in Romo's first playoff game in Seattle...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
"After protecting a 20-13 lead with a stop by the defense, the Cowboys fell behind when Terry Glenn's fumble turned into a safety and Seattle followed with a 37-yard touchdown pass from Matt Hasselbeck to Jerramy Stevens. But with Dallas down a point and 4:24 left, Romo drove the Cowboys right back down the field and into position for the win.

He moved the Cowboys from their 28 to the Seattle 2, where a pass to Jason Witten was initially ruled a first down before a replay showed the Cowboys were short. Parcells seemed tempted to go for it on fourth-and-1, leaving his offense on the field until Seattle called a timeout. Then he sent in Gramatica, the late-season replacement for Mike Vanderjagt who'd already made the coach look good by hitting from 50 and 29 yards.

Romo -- who has been holding on kicks since last season, long before he ever threw a pass in the NFL -- caught the snap cleanly but fumbled the ball as he tried to place it down."
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Romo botched a snap. But he made the beautiful clutch play to get us in position for the field goal. Why did Parcell's still have him handling snaps? Sweaty hands, slick ball... recipe for disaster!

As for last season's loss to NYG... Crayton and Owens dropped critical passes. Plus Crayton stopped short on a route where the ball was thrown on the money to the back of the endzone. The interception came at desperation time. True story...

I am by no means a Romo hater.... I happen to like Romo... Your right.. he holds the team together well... but if you look at both times hes been down to a single score to advance to the championship hes messed up.... Im not saying dont take risks.... but when you throw a ball straight to a player on the other team... then you have something you need to work on... and when he dropped the ball in 06.....

I think Romo is a phenominal quarterback but has alot to work on.... he has done very very well in his year and 3/4 as a starter.... but hes not perfect and hes even said that...

and as for Farve... for every bad decision he made... he made 10 right ones with greenbay....

I think Romo has the potential to be the #1 ranked QB in the NFL.... as far as im concerned he is.... but he has some kinks he has to work out..... Wade Phillips knows it and so does Romo... they hav both said it

He's not having any trouble in the playoffs. If you noticed, the team was failing at practically every position and T-Ro kept them in those games. Both of them. In only a season and a little over a third as the starter. Only T-Ro haters would expect every pass to be perfect, so go find me QB that passes that litmus.

I guess Favre 'choked' as well. Funny, when he - like Romo - made those wild assed highly dangerous passes and completed them, the accolades poured forth.

Ask Pennington how well safe throwing QBs fare in today's NFL. So everyone should quit worrying and enjoy what should be one helluva year.

I'm a Cowboy fan of the 90's where the real Boy's use to: "Be'cha, be'cha up and tell you about it while there doing it to ya!" So you 2008 cowboys better do "sumin dis yr!".

Jason(backup Qb of the 90's) didn't play much, but he is very intelligent! So when he calls the plays you cowboys plz make the best of it! "Romo miss a wide open TO..." Grrrrr! The game is already hard enough play so calm down ok. And stop smiling "so much" on the field until the end of the game(when you have won). Checkout Troy Aikman sometime, he was serious as a heart attack maybe to serious at times and yes he did smile but not much.

Ps. That Offense belongs to my boy(one of the real champs from the 90's) Jason Calvin Garrett. Oh Yeah baby!!!

Hey cowboy fans, last years season is gone and we can't change how we lost. Time to redeem ourselves and prove we are the Superbowl team to be feared. Let's tune up for a Superbowl run when we host the Superbowl in 2011

No excuses just some truths. . . Tony Romo has not produced for us in the playoffs, but then again he has only been a starter in the NFL for a year and a half. what he has accomplished is incredible if you consider this. also his numbers were incredible last year but T.O. was hurt in the end and he is a big factor in the offensive scheme. Coach Garrett was in his first year as offensive coordinator and he was very successful in calling games but later in the year he was being figured out by other teams. the truth is still that the team fell flat. if it wasn't for the monumental face first collapse of the Patriots the Cowboys would have been the team everyone talked about as failing. The team and the players all know they need to finish this year. i do think this is the year because the Cowboys look like the triplet era Cowboys, they look like they can score every time they get the ball. it should be an interesting year.

I think thw biggest problem here is Romo is a great quarterback but has a hard time dealing under pressure. I think if he can keep his head level in the post season then he can lead the cowboys to the superbowl. He preforms amazing in the pre and regular season, but seems to fold in the post. I think Romo needs to find a way to keep his head level and the team will go far.

Newtalent says:

"I don't think Romo will emerges as the biggest star in the NFL. He's not a bad QB, So you better take another look around."

So wait... is it because he's NOT a bad QB that we'd better take another look around? You'll have to come up with a better reason that this. As far as the rest of the world and I are concerned, he already has top tier starpower and fame, combine that with a possible Super Bowl and you will easily have one of the biggest stars in the NFL.

"Did anyone see Troy Smith(backup QB) from baltimore ravens now that was great passing. Could he do it again? don't know. Just have to wait and see. "

Troy Smith... now are you bringing him up as a possible "bigger star than Romo" QB, or did you completely change the subject? This guy is vying for a job in preseason... not exactly staying in the realms of this discussion.

"Theres suppose to be a new elusive style runningback coming out in 2011 just like or better than B. Sanders. I hope he plays for the cowboys!!! They would be nearly unstoppable. "

Just like or better than Barry, huh? Well i'm glad "they" have it all figured out. How far fetched is this? Maybe he reminds those of Barry... Maybe he even has really good stats... but there are far better chances of finding the next Barry Sanders in todays NFL- Tomlinson, Peterson, and guys who are actually professional players now. And as for the Cowboys, aren't we getting a little ahead of ourselves? If he is a top RB, we hope the Cowboys won't need him because they will have won a couple of Super Bowls and aren't picking first in the draft. And you say the Cowboys would be nearly unstoppable, aren't they already NEARLY unstoppable? They already have a couple of REALLY good running backs, don't they?

"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Sanders , Click on discussion

At first i thought it was a joke but now days you just don't know, I should be getting some info on him soon. "

It's a joke.
