Dear Jay, You do not know me but I recently listened to your story on the HBO documentary in my english class. I live in Buffalo, New York. I wanted to reach out to you and tell you that I am very proud that the United States has such brave soldiers like you. Your story almost brought me to tears. You are the epitome of a courageous human being and I would like to thank you for your service. It is pleasing to hear that you are starting to exercise and are cleared to drive! I hope you can start to feel like your old self again and your own person. It's exciting that you might write a book about your experiences in Iraq. I hope you do write that book and share it with all of us. It would be a very interesing read because I cannot imagine how it would feel to not know who your enemies are over there. I'm glad you are making progess in your struggle and I hope you become the person you want to be for yourself, and your kids. Whenever you feel discouraged, remember all the people who saw that documentary and who are internally rooting for you! Sincerely, Kristina

Dear Jay, I ran into your story by accident and I am so glad and thankful that I did. You are an inspiration to me and everyday when I think my life is so terrible I will think about you first. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments.

Dear Jay, I just got the opportunity to watch this documentary and your story truly moved me, to the point of tears. I'm so sorry that you had to go through this and that you have to live with the aftermath but just know that you have the love, support, and extreme gratitude of everyone in this nation for your sacrifice! Your children are beautiful and they can honestly say that they have a true hero for a father! May God bless you for all you've done and, again, thank you for fighting for our rights! God bless you and God bless our soldiers who are still there fighting and risking their own safety for us all!!!!!!! Sincerely, Katie

Hey Jay I must introduce myself again. I am SGT Daniel Jensen and worked on your trucks while in iraq on camp prosperity. I have wondered for months how you have been doing, I got a call from my wife while in the field to tell me that she saw you on HBO and had to let me know. While on R&R leave from Iraq I came to Walter Reed and the time we visited at Walter Reed meant more than anything in the world to me. If our paths never cross again I want you to know that I WILL NEVER forget your ALIVE DAY.. It is for ever with me for the rest of my life. well hope to hear from you soon .

Hi Jay, My name is Roderick Madison. I also worked with you at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail with Elgin and Keisha. I just want to say that it is my honor to know a true hero. You never know who people are when you first meet them but you never believe you will meet a TRUE HERO. You have served us all well and you should be proud. Hold your head high and I will be praying for you and your family.
