THIS SHOW WAS WHACK! IT STARTED OUT SO GOOD BUT AFTER THE SECOND SHOW, IT JUST DIED. I THOUGHT THE LITTLE GIRL WAS SO PRETTY & THERE MOTHER WAS HOT, AFTER THAT THE SHOW WAS SHIT.

This was a simply awful series of the kind that belongs on PBS. At first I expected it to be on a par with Helen Mirren's Prime Suspect series but it only came up to that show's ankles. HBO had better come up with some better programming or else I will drop my subscription and begin watching situation comedies on ABC, or maybe sit down with a good novel.

Will someone please explain these things -- 1) Why did Matt destroy his cell phone? The police recovered it, but nothing came of it. Did I miss something or was it simply a confusing red herring? 2) What exactly was Matt's friend's connection? Blurry at best. Why did they have to add that in? Just overkill and REALLY weakened the whole show. 3) Why the hell did they have that ugly (way too long) retirement scene? To make the tall, blond detective seem like a horrible racist? What purpose did that scene possibly serve? I liked her until that scene. I too suspect that this mini-series - in England - was probably longer and answered these questions. They probably edited it down for the US version (Apparently, we can't concentrate on this side of the Atlantic). Who knows, though. It was a promising premise -- decent acting -- but ultimately fell short.

I stuck with this mini-series and have to confess that it was a let down. Good acting, good characters, but the pace was so SLOW and the editing job was horrific -- WAY too many details were left out. It felt like there was an entire hour in between each show that was omitted. Was this a longer series in England, and they short-cutted it to 5 episodes for the attention-deficited Americans? All the important "findings" happened outside of the show! And I'm most appalled at the marketing for the show -- making out to be a family's worst nightmare! What? And the sudden feeling of relief at the end (cemetery scene) was offensive after 4 hours of "tension" building storyline. This was almost as pointless as John from Cincinnati.

i had a difficult time getting into this show; it just didn't hold my attention and was too drawn out. better suited to a single movie or two-parter. > Hi HBO Film fans! > You may have heard that the fans of John From > Cincinnati are working to bring the show back for a > second season. In the first few episodes, they alluded to the fact that Leanne was having an affair. Remember that she was also pregnant when she died and had not told Matt. It is possible that Matt's friend was having the affair with Leanne and was the father of the unborn child. Further, Leanne had a ticket to France, that she had also not told Matt about (was she having an abortion in France?). Matt's friend may have killed her because of the pregnancy, the smuggling operation that she discovered, or his overall resentment of Matt's situation.

While I basically got caught up in the series, I was frustrated by the sound quality - did anyone else experience that? Had a difficult time getting it loud enough. Also, some of the Brit accents were difficult. What was the point last night of the retirement party scene, the dancing, the drunk detective? There seemed to be too much left out - and I agree that Matt's "friend" being involved came out of left field - a cheap shot I think.

I watched the ending last night. I was kind of disappointed. I get who killed Leanne and everything- but I don't get why Matt's friend was involved and why he put Leanne in the lake knowing she was alive? If someone has an answer can you please write me back at: alohamstee@yahoo.com

Now that this miniseries is over, I thought it was fairly well done. Lately HBO has not hit the mark with its offerings. JohnFrom Cincinatti was horrible and HBO continues to disappoint by such things as, for instance, not making good on its promise to do a Deadwood movie. I hope there are more shows like Five Days in the offing.

I have mixed feelings in regard to Five Days. On one hand , as an African American, I was glad that the husband, despite hisfaults, was not the main villian of the series. On the otherhand, I was appalled by the overly dramatic plotting and the pathetic police work involved in the storyline. The only thing that really rang true in Five Days was the kids and how they all dealt with their mother being missing and then her death.

What is the connection between Sarah & Tops. It appears that Tops doesn't like Sarah. Did they ever mention where Sarah works? We were first introduced to Sarah when she was on a plane? Coming from France?? Ex-husband connection? Remember the jet lag comment. Why did the boy end up in her garbage bin? She stated she was late for an appointment, was it to retrieve the boy and dog earlier then she actually did??

Slow. Sappy. Transparent. Idiotic. Formulaic. A possible 35 minutes of interesting screenplay painfully stretched out to approximately 300 mind-numbing minutes.

I'm watching this show just to find out what happened. The whole thing is awful, and thank God I'm not the only one here who hates the caterwauling singer they play whenever they need to tell us they're getting dramatic. Are there even any lyrics to whatever song she is screeching, or is it in some dead language? -- Edited by katemcdo at 10/24/2007 6:10 PM
