http://www.hbo.com/apps/schedule/ScheduleServlet?ACTION_DETAIL=DETAIL&FOCUS_ID=621574 According to this, E1 should be airing on these dates, but when I check my local listings, it's not there. As a matter or fact when I check any listings but this one above it doesn't look like it's on. Does anyone have any information when this might air? I recorded part one, but I missed part 2 and I really want to know how it ends.:^) Thanks, Paul

I agree I thought the production was fantastic. I love history but this production stands on its own. As in the case of history it depends on who writes it and mostly it's done by survivors or the winners so it's done with poetic license. Even the violence attributed to the Queen was fairly accurate I believe because she had to look to be as tough as a man. The cast was excellent I enjoy Ms. Mirren kind of miss the Prime Suspect series on pbs. Long live the queen

I found the poem I had been searching for. I am posting it here, in case anyone else was interested. ON MONSIEUR'S DEPARTURE, 1582 I grieve and dare not show my discontent, I love and yet am forced to seem to hate, I do, yet dare not say I ever meant, I seem stark mute but inwardly do prate. I am and not, I freeze and yet am burned, Since from myself another self I turned. My care is like my shadow in the sun, Follows me flying, flies when I pursue it, Stands and lies by me, doth what I have done. His too familiar care doth make me rue it. No means I find to rid him from my breast, Till by the end of things it be supprest. Some gentler passion slide into my mind, For I am soft and made of melting snow; Or be more cruel, love, and so be kind. Let me or float or sink, be high or low. Or let me live with some more sweet content, Or die and so forget what love ere meant.

I don't know of any particular screensavers but I have found a most interesting website about Elizabeth I. It contains lots of good information, biographies and beautiful artwork. You can find it at: http://englishhistory.net/tudor/monarchs/eliz1.html

A question...As Elizabeth I says goodbye to The Duke of Anjou, she recites a poem, in part, referring to her shadow. I liked it very much and would like to know if anyone knows what it is called and/or where I could find a copy of it. Thank you . -- Edited by Natureknight at 06/09/2006 6:42 AM

I have seen this movie several times, each time in awe. I have a deep connection to the Elizabethan period. Helen Mirren gave an outstanding performance. Most movies about royalty show the priveledges of wealth and not much else. Elizabeth I was a real woman with real feelings and Ms. Mirren brought that out in a very realistic manner. I felt her every emotion. Bravo Ms. Mirren, bravo!

Re: Agreed and the actors performances "made" the film for me

I enjoy Helen Mirren's work. The mark for me of any actor's work is to seem to "become" the person they are portraying on screen "before your eyes". I've always loved English history, and the Tudors have always facinated me. I've seen Glenda jackson and Bette davis play Queen Elizabeth 1...I think Ms. Mirren did FINE work. I also enjoyed Jeremy Irons, but I always do. They made it "EASY". My sole complaint was the "gore"... We know beheadings and torture was commonplace then...but I think the gang at HBO took a page from Rome on some of this. It wasn't enough though to make me not want to watch this film again and again. Cleves
