I believe the Girl in the Cafe is the jewel in the crown of HBO. The acting was superb and I loved every minute. Congratulations to HBO for the Emmy wins!

I'm Chinese. This is the first time for me to say something on HBO. I love this film.So romantic it is. At first, I was shocked by the song "cold water". I had never seen the film acted by Bill Nighy before.Seeing his performance when he met the girl in the cafe first time---shy,hesitate or something else---I like him and his acting. Moreover,I realized the fact:what the true world is! One child dies every three seconds! How fragile the life is!We should fight with poverty together. I think Lawrence himself is a tragedy. Of course he is a kind man and try his be st to make the world better. But his dream will not come true. Politics always serves rich people who just care about their own business.G8 is an example. It is filled with compromise. My English is very poor. It's very hard for Chinese to learn English. Now I'm preparing to pass the exam to become a postgraduate. I hope someone can help me with my English:write to me in English and correct my composition. If you want to be the person, please mail to me. My mail address is:soul21@163.com

I have a question, There is a song they use through most of the movie and I heard it distinctively on the part of the movie where they slept in the hotel for the first night and they were saying goodnight to each other and etc... It's like a score I guess.. I don't think it's from sigur ros but I could be wrong. anyone know what it is?

Great storyline. The song is definetely called "Cold Water" by Damien Rice, with the lines, "Lord, Can you hear me now?" I AM listening right now. So is the LORD. Its up to US to ACT. A great link to feed the poor daily with just a FREE click of your mouse donates up to 20 times per day to Stop HUNGER and also has links to house homeless and donate to AIDS. www.humane.net feeds the poor daily by a free click. Corporations provide each time we click our mouse. Also www.one.org and sign the declaration to stop hunger...then go to work to get the churches to break down denominational walls and come together in your community. I will do the same in mine. I feel that this film had things that were comparable to Coppola's film Lost in Translation. World weary worn man, vulnerable girl. But with a difference in terms of the heart that it tries to cover on its sleeve. Why is it that movies of older men and younger women are so appealing? Is it that we yearn to see the older man "dream" themselves into what they once wished they would be in the eyes of their new found love interest? Or is it merely escape from a sense of their impending mortality by romancing what appears to be the essence of life, that of a young woman who is ripe for bearing new life? Anyways, just some thoughts on two very well made movies, though if I were to give points, I would say Girl edges out Lost; and Nighy edges Murray. The song in the beginning and the end are so affecting. It made even my wife, who usually hates sad sounding songs sit up and take notice.

There is another song used in the film from Sigur ros that I downloaded from itunes off of their " () " album and it's track number 5. I would also like to say that HBO makes great influential movies, I was influenced by the struggle with women's rights in "Iron Jawed Angels" and was very influenced by this movie to the issue of poverty. If you would like to make a difference another good way is to get involved with the UNHCR. They are a refugee aid and very helpful with saving lives all over the world. A great movie that I recommend that involves UNHCR and poverty/refugee issues is called "Beyond Borders". I know the world isn't a perfect place right now, but with everyone's help, we can end a world of sufferage and poverty. For more information please visit http://www.unhcr.org

Sigur Ros didn't sing that, and they don't have an "O" album. He said Damien Rice, and the song is called Cold Water.
