Dorsena - Hello home girl! I too am from Farmville, VA in Prince Edward County. Just hearing the reference to Farmville in Lakawana Blues really made the movie real to me. It is a fantastic movie and the entire cast is wonderful. I just saw the movie for the first time tonight and I have no clue as to what took me so long. I definitely plan to buy the DVD to watch it again and again. LAKAWANNA BLUES - A MUST SEE FOR EVERYONE!!!!!

I watched this movie for the first time this morning. What drew me to it was the title...Lackawanna...my being from just a bit north of there, up in Niagara Falls. I am so glad I did. I had heard nothing of this movie being made and knew nothing of the story behind it. This movie was so moving...so beautiful, words cannot even describe it. How wonderful it must have been to have grown up in such a caring time. I find myself feeling sorry that I will never experience this sort of caring for each other...not that people don't care now, but it is just not the same, nor will it ever be. I was also saddened by the scenes at the end of the movie...an all too familiar landscape in the western new york area these days. Perhaps this should be required screening for everyone...young and old alike. Then, just maybe, things would get back to a more caring, concerned world. There is just way too much "ME" going on these days. Thank you Mr. Santiago Hudson for a wonderful look into your past. It was excellent!

She deserves it and accepts her awards with such grace, and hilarity. Thankyou for putting such a jem of a production on your channel.

I absolutely LOVE this movie!! I regret that I waited a YEAR to see it. I rented it this past week on DVD and I have watched it over 7 times. It is awesome and deserves ALL the accolades that it is recieving.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE CHARACTER in the movie, though, was PAULINE played TO THE BONE by Macy Gray. I thought she did an incredible job in this. Epatha, of course, was brilliant.

FANS, wouldnt it be GREAT if this could become an HBO SERIES??? That would be great. I'm going to try to email the screenwriter and see if he has been approached with this yet.

Congratulations on the Golden Globe. I love this movie. I watch it every time it comes on. If it comes out on DVD, I will buy it. S. Epatha Merkerson did a wonderful job. Her portrayal of Nannie was awesome. The lessons that she taught were strong and could apply to anyone. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie.

Lackawanna Blues has reassured me that acting is my calling. I just watched this extraordinary movie a few days ago and I am blown away. I must admit that I watched it three times in a row. Now, I know that's going overboard, but I could not help it. I mean each time I watched it I found something new, or maybe I didn't get it the first time. All I know is that this is what I want to do with my life.

S. Epatha Merkerson has nurtured her craft in a way that you can't help but admire. Not only did she do an outstanding job, but the entire cast. Each character in this movie displayed their triumphs, fears, vulnerability and more importantly, courage. I watched this film and thought, "This is my life", meaning, I know of someone who is equivalent to each of these characters. The film captured the essence of African-American culture.

I must say that Lackawanna Blues is by far my favorite film to date. It has replaced my former Top Five as number one. I think I'll go home and watch it again tonight.
