An excellent movie!! Very good actors and actresses. I really enjoyed this movie. I have a question though for members ... Does anyone know if there is a soundtrack for the film? Mr. Madala Kunene composed the music for the film but I am trying to get ALL the track listing of the movie itself.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

I was so moved by Leleti Khumalo performance in Yesterday. I typically don't cry at movies but this one was such a tear jerky. I have never felt such compassion for a person. The most emotional part of the movie was when her husband came back and despite how he treated her she stood by him until the end. I even had compassion for him in the end. It is so sad how mis informed they are. The little girl has such a sweet face and I hope I see her in more films. To be honest the entire cast was great. I can say Darrell you did a wonderful job on the film. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

There are many words that can discribe "Yesterday". But none better than magnificant. I am a huge han of Leleti Khumalo and am willing to travel way to the haert of South Africa to meet her. She has moved me in every appearance that she has on telivision. "Yesterday" is a heart warning tale that take the audiance by the haerts to an unemaginabl tomorrow.
One particular scene of the movie woke my scences into anger. Yester payed her husband, John, a visit to speak with him about her infection. John beat her brutally. This scene tells me that women in this country are limited to power. And even through she had the world agianst her, she still had God besibe her. Best wishes Leleti and the sky is the limit. You go gurl! #1 fan.

i agree with what you say almost completely.

however, the director did state that the film was more about the social rather than political aspects of AIDS...okay- but based on what you say, it is not really acceptable to separate the social from the political aspects of AIDS in Africa because they effect each other; and more or less, it seems like you are saying that the politics have shaped/caused the way in which AIDS has spread. I do not disagree. but the thing is, for a lot of viewers, you have to start somewhere. your average joe doesn't even know who wouter basson is- i didn't, and i consider myself fairly well- educated and well- traveled. i would even bet you that average viewers don't know exactly when apartheid officially ended. it's no excuse, but when you look at a film like this as a whole, while it may or may not have been missing some key concepts, you have to think of the audience and produce something that is the seed of a beginning. most people don't even know what a rural village in africa looks like, forget about trying to also capture how the apartheid capitalist system has shaped the way things are setup today...

someone will be daring enough to take the next step, have faith! but the building blocks needed to be formed first.

in response to your comment about "the end of the day"- the usual "conventional line..." i also disagree- while many might agree that sex outside of marriage is wrong in some way, after seeing this movie, i did not see the husband as a "bad person- eg. promiscuous and careless." i saw him as a vulnerable person, living a dual life, as most miners probably do, and yes, engaging in activities that probably made his difficult life mining in the city more tolerable. irresponsible- maybe- but not careless, just uneducated, lonely, and living and the only existence he knew. beating her when he found out definitely upset me, but i think the movie did a good job of showing how people deal with disease, blame, and deep anger/embarrassment/resentment.

thank you for informaing us about wouter- i have heard all sorts of theories, but will look into the name and the case more.

What a powerful film. Does anyone know if there is a soundtrack for the film. I know the legendary guitar player Madala Kunene composed the music for the film but I am trying to get the track listing of the movie itself.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure all were moved by the music performed in the movie as I was. Thank you

Yesterday was a beautiful movie! I stayed up until 3:00am watching it last night
and I am not a night owl.

I loved Yesterday's grace and her strong spirit.
It was so breathtaking seeing Africa and the people there. HBO continue to make interesting films that show other areas of the world and their stories.

What a heart wrenching show. I understand the plight of people with Aids in Africa so much better. You have opened my eyes to life in another country. This was a superbly done show. Thank you...

Yes, a terrific, sad, remarkably accurate movie. I began going to SA long before AIDS had spread there, but after it had arrived in the US. I thought, at least SA will know better than we did and benefit. But no. My daugher recently spent 2 years in Togo, providing AIDS education in villages not unlike those in the film, and came back quite disallusioned. This makes me wonder about the comments about the effect of apartheid on this disease.

This film was well done and I really enjoyed! The director gave a clear picture of other difficult aspects the people of South Africa are dealing with in everyday life.

Hope the word gets out and there are more viewers.

HBO, again you've produced another great film!

This movie is such a masterpiece. Thank you to everyone involved in the making of this movie. I cried as I watched this movie. Never has the power of love, trust, till death do us part, for better or worse, come across the screen the way it does in this movie. I have called everyone I know who has HBO to view this movie. It is very awaking to what is happening in the lives of people who are in a world of turmoil and confusion. To the director of this movie, I have been observing your style since Sarafina. You are truly a heaven send. May God continue to bless you with the gift of relaying powerful messages through your films.

Thanks to all the crew, actors and funders for a beautiful, moving, and disturbing film. It made me feel small. May we all awaken to the enormous tragedy of AIDS in Africa where some 25 million people are HIV positive.

It has been a long time since a movie has moved me so much. The movie itself was beautiful(cinematography). It is so hard to believe sometimes that we are all human and that if we do not look after one another, who will? We all know someone or know of someone whose life has been affected by HIV/AIDS. We cannot sit on this issue, we all need to be doers and hopefully the more we see the more it will get under our skin and motivate us to act. The number of cases that are known about in Africa are breathtaking and response is heartbreaking. We all are responsible for each other.

The caption is captivating. Simple storyline, powerful story; full of intrigue. Watching the movie, you learn nothing about the role racism and apartheid played in the spread of hiv/aids. Wouter Basson spent several years experimenting with biological agents that would infect blacks only, including, some suspect, the HIV virus. A court found him not guilty; he walks free today. No allusion to the hostel system that quarantined miners, never allowing them to bring their wives to the mines and live with them. An apartheid, capitalist system that catalyzed the spread of HIV/AIDS. At the end of the day, all you get is the usual, conventional line about black african men as careless and promiscuous. If we continue like this, nobody daring enough to fund projects that bring the truth out, this disease will decimate us.

I am watching this movie right now! it is so very good, and deeply moving. Khumalo (Yesterday) did an exeptional job, seeing from her in that movie, um, Sarafina, which was also great. This is an amazing film, I really loved the reality of it, and the zulu lanaugue being used, and its affect. I just wonder why it was made in 2004, and not realesed until late november 2005? again, amazing movie.
