Have you heard this before? Somehow being sandwiched between Washington and Jefferson and then followed by a son of the same name has dimmed the light of this founding father. Do you agree with this? Do you think that John Adams deserves his own HBO MiniSeries?

Superlative in every respect. Must-see tv. Each actor warrants a standing ovation, every week. Laura and Paul have earned oscars, at least. The photography, the accurate sets and the storylines are simply the best ever. Thanks for quality tv, welcome change from network reality and related offal. This series ought never end!

This is one of the best tv productions ever! Among many, many positive elements, it treats its audience as intelligent! History comes alive in a most brilliant fashion Ed Hepner -- Edited by emhpp at 04/17/2008 2:18 PM PDT

There isn't anything I don't like about this series ! The entire atmosphere of the film so far, makes you feel as if you are there, like walking the Adam's farm with them as they speaking to each other.. All the actors are wonderful, so believeable in character.. As for the history lesson we are all gaining from the production, its just too interesting not to be viewed.. American history is complicated and wonderful and I hope that more series will be thought about in the future.. John Adams was a really outspoken and wonderful american, thank goodness for that !

Do you remember the movie; ?It is a Wonderful Life.? What would have happened to the town residents if there were no George Bailey? If there had not been a John Adams, then there would not have been a movement for independence from England. There would not have been a General George Washington leading the Continental Army. There would not have been a Thomas Jefferson writing the Declaration of Independence. There would not have been a French naval fleet at Yorktown to stop General Corrnwallis from linking-up with General Howell in New York. There would have been no Dutch monetary assistance. There would have been no President George Washington or President Thomas Jefferson. John Adams laid the foundation for the rule of law and the Constitution may not have been the document it is today. The three pillars of the United States are Washington, Adams and Jefferson in equal order.

I hope the rift between Adams and Jefferson is explained. Also, thanks to the director for not using the blue tint effect and presenting the series in full color.

I can't wait! The first two episodes are tonight. OK, so he was no rock star or war hero. Maybe he was annoying like a little yip dog biting at heels. But he was there and fought for freedom from England and King George. Someone had to be a politician and a driving force. Yes, he deserves his own HBO series.

I have heard this before....I'm sure it was eons ago in a history class....of course back then I was not interested in history but as you get older I think you really want to learn more. I do look forward to this series and hope there will be more to come about our American history.

It's a good thing McCullough's efforts are being brought to the screen, as many of us would probably not have considered reading it. And Adams would indeed lay in continued relative abscurity. Who are any of us to offer our approval? Heck, if Reagan, Thompson, and Sonny Bono can make the switch to politics, maybe the question should be: Does Paul Giamatti deserve a nomination.... for President?

Like a good book, don'tcha hate when it ends? I've heard the McCullough book was interesting, if a bit dry. I'm sure HBO will liven it up. > Still want my 4th season of Deadwood though. I'm not a big history buff, but my husband is. I asked him what he thought about an HBO Mini Series featuring John Adams. He said he'd really like to see it. -- Angela HBO Forums Host

would be interested to know what the average response from the man on the street.. "Who was the second President?" kind of like who was the second man on the Moon.. heck if I know the answer to that. I have a bit of an interest in the 'founding fathers' , the Revolution etc.. I appreciate the chance to learn more about it.. and I know that it being Tom Hanks and his production company.. it's gonna be awesome. I'm probably going to be upset it's only some many episodes.. Still want my 4th season of Deadwood though.
