I think the problem is that you are more "curious" about stylish names than about the definition of touting. I suggest you improve your reading abilities. Good Luck!

I really wish you would stick to the facts you know and in the absence of knowledge, simply not post. Thank-you!

Some research into the newspapers would probably astound you. Did you know that New York City nearly burned to the ground during the Civil War as a result of draft riots? Did you know that numerous publications referred to FDR in far less flattering terms than "commie"?
Answer: Apparently, not.

This series is a historical joke and will remain a historical joke with zero impact on current Americans because it has zero usefulness to current Americans, but I wish you the best of luck trying to do otherwise! Good Luck!

Ron... I am curious here. Exactly what do you think you are doing by touting Obama to begin with??? As I recall, he appears to be the one who is promising "change". Not that I personally believe he is any better or worse than Clinton or McCain (except, of course, for his affiliation with Rev. Jeremiah Wright - enough said there), as they all are completely obligated to their various special interest groups to begin with. In my opinion, quite far from any Founding Father at the very least.

Also, I guess I am quite puzzled how you casually label Lincoln "der Fuherer" as well as FDR as "Frankie the Commie Roosevelt". Quite interesting, as I believe that is the very first time I can ever remember hearing those particular labels for those two before.

Lastly, your interpretation that this miniseries as "this absurdly poor production of the life of John Adams is a poor substitute for the utter failure of Tommy Tancredo's overpaid National Teacher Unions." Sorry, Ron... you aren't even close with that statement or any other of your derogatory statements of this series to boot. For someone who clearly has nothing good to say of this series, it certainly has me wondering why you choose to constantly wish to post on it's forums over and over to start with...

Can anyone name an American President that's had experience as President prior to becoming President?

I assumed from one of your previous posts that you were an Obama supporter. If anyone recalls most politicians, especially those seeking election, will tell you anything to get elected. If you fall for it, you might as well stand in line with the rest of the fools.

There were a lot of dud presidents going way back. I suggest ordering a copy of the History Channel's "The Presidents" DVD series. Very interesting series.

And no, Barack Obama is not the John Adams of our times. Obama has spent his entire senatorial time running for president. John Adams helped to create America, and as Adams would say "you're either insane or I'm insane." I think the latter.

I have to admit that I have the same bad habit as John Adams--everything I think comes right out of my mouth much to the displeasure of those on the receiving end and some of them deserve it.

And I will add that we have to keep in mind that those were very different times than what we have now. How many of you could have endured this without your cell phones, computers, and everything else that are luxuries today (especially cell phones which I hate)? They didn't even have reasonable health care, proper standards of living, or sanitation.

You cannot make a fair comparison from John Adams' days to now. If you think you can, you're delusional!

Thanks Bzzz. This absurdly poor production of the life of John Adams is a poor substitute for the utter failure of Tommy Tancredo's overpaid National Teacher Unions.

I've no idea how to use a quote feature if one exists here, so to quote RonMay7000..

"If nothing else spells doom for America, it is the willingness of outspoken fools to not merely worship boxes of glowing lights which change patterns minute by minute an at each new political whim and fad but to act on speak on them as if they were a new messianic religion."

I'd just like to say that is very well put sir.

John Adams....Obama...are you serious? Please. Obama couldn't write a sentence as eloquently and as effortlessly as John or Abigail Adams wrote entire letters. Don't forget they had no word processors, spell checkers or more importantly for modern politicians, speech writers.

Pretty close. However, Sen Clinton accused Sen. Obama as "Elitist and smart". Both (if the film is accurate) the attributes of Pres. Adams.

Maybe Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama are the reincarnation of John Adams. Abigail might not approve, though.;)

"Today, Senator Clinton accused Senator Obama of being an Elitist and Smart. After eight years of the current Presidency, shouldn't that be a criteria for the job?" - Jay Leno

In Episode II, Adams implores Jefferson to draft the Declaration of Independence. Why me? Asks Jefferson. Adams describes his own unfitness for the job thusly:

"I am obnoxious, suspected and unpopular."

Adams is flawed, gutsy, egotistical, pedantic. He's inelegant and shows an appetite for life. To his adversaries, he's unforgivably tenacious. He won't go away when asked.

Adams bears a strong likeness to one candidate still in the running. But her name is not Barack Obama.

Sorry fellas! ;)

Each individual has the makings of becoming President. It's up to that individual to make that destiny a reality.

Can you name an American President that's had experience as President prior to becoming President?

Each President had to trust his judgement in shaping this country. The Ideals are there because of the principles of the previous Commander In Chiefs.

The Constitution is based on the values that differed from England's. Without England, the U.S. wouldn't have had a bluprint.

Everything has a precedence.

I am curious to hear specifically your opinion on what relates Obama to Adams. I am neither for or against any candidate, instead I am trying to learn all I can about the people behind the words, behind the hype, and behind the publicity.

Thank-you for your reply Maggie. I am glad to hear that you are curious. At least until recently, the Smithsonian displayed several exhibits of early American History. It seems that even among the most common of citizens, it was a REQUIREMENT to have an educated opinion. Imagine if you will being publicly denied admittance to your local association, bar, church group or trade association for NOT having a public vocal opinion (one way or the other).
I trust that after you have done all you can to quench your curiousity you will have an urge to expel sarcasm to measureable (even to graduates of Public Education) degrees.

Sincerely,
Joe Blow
