Do servicemen killed in Iraq and Afghanistan receive enough attention in the States?

No I don't think they do. I believe that is because so many depend on the mainstream media for their information and our Fallen Heroes aren't the "big"news anymore. So people don't think about it.

"They" don't want to dwell on the loses yet "they" don't focus or bring attention to the positive progress and good that has been accomplished in Iraq.

There are groups out there that know all about our Fallen and honor them every day. I belong to an organization that sends sympathy cards and donate living trees to the families of our Fallen, each and everyone of them. Do you see that on the news? No, but that's not important. What is important is that the families know that you are out there and you are shedding tears for their lost one.

You don't need main stream media to do that. Go to the Department of Defense website and find and join a support group.

No, I don't think that they do. I think there are a great many people who do care about and respect our fallen soldiers but I don't think the mindset in our country is pro-military. People mix up politics and opinions with the mission our servicemen and women are on and that's where the negativity sprouts from.
It takes a very special kind of person to be able to sacrifice and do all they do every day. I think the mindset in our country needs to change in order for these soldiers to get the respect they are owed. I mean, Veteran's Day and Memorial Day has turned into an excuse for having a family BBQ and going out to the big sales at stores instead of what it was intended. How many people actually put flags out or pay their respects to servicemen and women past and present? Are we too busy or indifferent to care?
