Were you there in Florida in 2000 when the Gore v. Bush voting debacle went down? Do you have a story from a different election? Share your voting experience, and let your voice be heard!

The movie still didn't answer as much as it left me asking.I came away from it with more questions then I had before.

But many of these elements are simply overstated and misleading (You cite two of them, voters being "turned away" and the supposed 20,000 people who were improperly listed as felons. See my posts below.) The film perpetuates the overarching false stories of Florida - That Gore was somehow justified in turning the election on its head as he tried to undo Bush's victory. That Bush was not the actual winner, despite having more votes. That the election was a disaster. That the only way to "save" the election was with manual re-tabulation. http://www.florida2000election.com

Even if you think this movie was slanted there are a few undeniable facts it did bring attention too. 1. Trying to discount the military men and women votes. 2. Voters being turned away from some precincts. 3. 20,000 list of felons not able to vote. I am sure there are more but there are a few. You may not agree/disagree with the movie but there were some interesting things laid out on the table for us to ponder. -- __________________________ Jaydes HBO Forums Host

As you have seen, there are plenty of nutjobs who continue to spew the same crap for the last 8 years. They actually believe the contents of a biased movie proves everything they believe. My recount experience? There are still plenty of nutjobs who still believe Gore won.

Why aren't we able to create our own threads without having to respond to "Share your recounting experience" What if I didn't have that peticular experience? What if I just came here to these boards to make a complaint against the film? Why is this all one sided? WTF? HBO has gone bonkers!! Aren't they the ones who did a movie not too long ago about John Adams who stood for freedom of speech? HBO obviously has taken advantage of that right with their untrrue version in the movie Recount and HBO is being hypocritical when they only post questions slanted for their own agendas! Sickening!! No wonder the Movie's ratings were so low. Karma..ain't it a bitch? LOL

This presentation in the film was sadly biased and misleading. It was meant to hurt Katherine Harris, yet had nothing to do with Gore's quest for recounts in Democrat counties. To throw out an inflated number like "20,000", as the film does, is misleading, especially when ignoring other relevant information (For example, each "felon" was notified they would not be able to vote prior to the election.) The felony purge problem likely resulted in a few people who were prevented from voting on Election Day - Indeed a tragedy of bureaucracy, but not some grand conspiracy. This film is only concerned with supporting Gore's quest for dimples. It's hard to steal an election when you are the one with the most votes. http://www.florida2000election.com

They were told their votes were in jeopardy, and that the ballot made them vote for the wrong person. (I can't say with certainty about the specific greeting card in the film, other than the film got a little "loose" with the facts.")

I think this election is simple. Bush stole the election. I will run down the obvious reasoning for it, sorry if it seems repetitive but it is the simple truth. 1. Over 20,000 voters were denied access to voting because they were considered falsely to be "felons". 10,000 of them were African Americans. Who do African Americans generally vote for? 2.Dubyas brother is the govenor of the state of Florida. 3.Kathleen Harris is a known republican who was heading parts of Bush's campaign. 4. Many of the supreme justices who stopped the recounting were put on the bench by republicans and were republicans themselves. This is all you need to consider when thinking about this election. If Dubya would have asked for a recount do you think that the Supreme Court would have put a stay on that and stopped it. Highly doubtful. But we are left with what we have. Thanks to Bush and the results of this election we have a crumbling economy, a war with no end in site with may people dead, joblesness at an all time high and poverty, our enviroment in shambles and people who desperately need health care not getting it while the rich get their healthcare no matter what their condition. Ah you gotta love it. Thats Dubya for ya. Cant wait for January. I have my calender ready.

After watching theis movie in it's entirety I can see why the ratings were so poor. Unbeliveable lies were told. I truly hope HBO is sued by the people they so poorly and unfairly portrayed. I hope Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern never work in Hollywood or anywhere ever again. They should be ashamed of themselves for being involved in such a hate filled propagandist movie. I'm cancelling my HBO and never looking back.

I have a simple question I'm hoping someone can answer: In the scene of the movie when Palm Beach County's Theresa LePore (the one responsible for the design of their butterfly ballot) opens the greeting card & it reads "Your going to die tonight," did the producers purposely misspell the word your here to take a jab at the Republican intellect? Or was there really such a card? Just curious...

I commend HBO for putting together this film. It is obvious that the people of this country weren't clear as to the extent of the numerous 'cover ups' put forth to secure Bush's presidency. Katherine Hill should have been removed from office and the people of the Unted States of America should have been better informed at the time of this corruption. It seems the voter officials in Florida were incompetent in performing any duties and tasks required to ensure a FAIR and LEGAL election. It is unfortunate to know that our country's leaders are not selected by the people but by numerous LOOPHOLES in our system.

Isn't it ironic, as HBO does it's bit to stump for the Democratic Party in this election year... the DNC is currently meeting in Washington deciding... 1.) Do we really believe One Person One Vote? 2.) Do "ALL" Votes Count? 3.) Do Michiganders and Floridians no longer count because they broke the rules? The only thing that I - and ANY other person who can spell the "democracy" - wants to know is... What the f***k is a "Super Delegate?" Is that like the Soviet Polit Bureau or the Mullahs of the Theocratic Republic of Iran??? The only thing missing from the HBO docudrama (aside from all the murky dark lighing for the republican board rooms and all the bright and cheery lighting for the new room offices of "our" democratic party...) was a post script... And in 2008 - the Dummocrates lost all the holy high ground as they contradicted EVERY "moral" point they made in 2000. g

Furthermore, > it was not Katherine Harris who ordered the loosening > of the criteria used by DBT as was suggested in the > movie. The supposed purging issue didn't even belong in the movie. It had nothing to do with Gore's quest for dimples in Democrat counties. They just wanted to ridicule Katherine Harris because it makes them feel good, and to justify Gore's disruption. http://www.florida2000election.com
