Do you think the threat of voter suppression is overstated?

As America hurtles toward the next presidential race, the HBO film
'Recount' will relive the fervor of 2000's messy election. Kevin Spacey
and Denis Leary take Al Gore's fight to the courts on May 25 - make your own case here on the boards, where the most cogent arguments will be featured in a special poll on HBO.com. And don't worry - this time all the votes will be counted.

The question: Do you think the threat of voter suppression is overstated?

Not only that I found it curious that areas with low income or predominantly older voters has older machine's. While upper class nieghborhoods had newer machine's.

This movie and the Democrats beating the "threat of the voter suppression" is just a way to keep minorities and white guilt liberals fired up and to actually believe that there is a great big conspiracy against them by those mean ol Republicans.

If you are watching the news today, you will find that it is actually the Democrats who are trying to suppress their peoples votes both in Florida and Michigan. Wake up minorities (there is no help for you white guilt liberals) the democrats only want you around when it furthers their agenda. At least the Republicans kiss you before they bend you over. The democrats just gang rape you without the KY whenever they feel they don't need you.

I was surprised to find out about the list of 'possible felons' that was given to the state of FL. I hadn't heard about that previously. Something like 20,000 names of people that were denied the opportunity to vote because of being on that list, and out of those, only 33 or 300 or so actually had felony status. Then nothing else was said about it. It makes me wonder how many states that prohibit felons from voting purchase lists similar to these, and how many qualified voters are turned away from the polls.

NO! It was not OVERstated and, in fact, since they got away with it in Florida, the same kind of voter disenfranchisement was repeated in Ohio in 2004. I hope HBO does a movie about THAT one, too. The only thing the Bush people are good at is stealing elections. I hope all those people portrayed in the movie, who helped Bush win, are proud of themselves now. Look at what they are responsible for doing to our country!

In 2004, people in the heaviest Democratic precincts in Ohio were forced to wait 8-9 hours to vote due to voting machine problems. The company that sold the voting machines is headed by one of Bush's top supporters. Anyone who doesn't think that the 2004 election was stolen in Ohio is supremely naive.

P.S. Whoever did that poll on this bulletin board is either trying to pull a fast one or is a total numbskull. It asks two questions. Even thought the right, honest people seem to outnumber the liars and thieves, I'm guessing the results are even MORE lopsided for Gore than the ones that are shown.

re: the Clintons - indeed, you reap what you sow. The law of nature...they haven't learned it yet, but maybe in due time they will. They're still in la-la power and greed land....

What's offensive about stating that black people have just as much ability as anyone else to achive their dreams?

As for Democrats and the Clintons, they deserve to be offended. Karma.

Yes. The great majority of the claims were total bullshit as evidenced by the fact that not one single Civil Rights charge was prosecuted or settled. Got all the slaves on the Democrat plantation all revved up for a while though.

Thank God for Obama shining the light on those Clinton cockroaches. The black folk are finally getting the courage to throw off the shackles and kiss Massa Bill and Miz Hillary goodbye.

What are Democrats going to do when they can no longer rely on the well-engineered black inferiority complex to keep their lackeys voting in return for false promises? When blacks finally get it that they can be anyone or anything they aspire to be, and that the answer is not being blessed by government intervention, THAT will be a glorious day indeed!
