Oh yeah, and college papers done on a *gasp* typewriter! Remember having to measure the inches for borders, and counting all of the characters in a line and dividing to get a line centered...

How did we survive???

in my dorm in the 80s, 20 rooms 40+ girls, one pay phone,
if you walk by the phone you pick it up and get the girl it's for or leave her a note on her marker board,

party's happened through the grape vine
and people actually had conversations!!!

In the days of computers, internet, texting, and video games, yes, these kids are more 'normal' today than others portrayed on TV.

And yeah, the do-over was a trip!

This episode was great! I just loved the "do over". In the end he really wanted to get it right and make her happy. Of course there seemed to be no way to please her LOL.

You are all wrong.

Jane Adams is brilliantly frumpy and lonely and heart-breaking as Tanya. A real sweetheart too. She KILLS me. And the kids are great, especially Darby; she's managed to leave a big impression on me with only a few scenes. I love her facial expressions. Damon is funny too. I'm surprised this board is such a ghost town, 'cause there's so many things to talk about. Natalie Zea was awesome! I can kinda see where this is goin' - Ray cuts Tanya outta the process until it backfires and his "damsel in distress" gets possessive, then he'll need Tanya to reestablish the boundaries - but I'm stoked to watch it play out (a rarity for me). This episode was so goddamn clever and sad and just weird. I liked watching the line get blurred between Ray and Gemma. And I loved his half-hearted, poorly-worded attempt(s) at chivalry. So hilarious, but affecting - and deftly nuanced. Tom Jane is giving the best dramatic performance in a comedy(?) ever. And Anne Heche's character is actually lovable. Didn't see that coming. Mostly I'm loving the chemistry between Ray and Tanya. That must be an incredibly fun and rewarding relationship to write; I'm jealous. You can tell that Tanya already is pretty smitten with Ray, but I like that he's a little dismissive of her in general. I like the idea of him realizing he's in love with Tanya someday. I think they need each other (down the road).

I don't get the "too slow" complaint. I've been wholly (and increasingly) entertained by each successive episode - And I've seen everything you have and MORE. True Blood is pure fun - I love it - but this show is a lot more resonant to me. I'm way too swamped right now to spend very much time writing about it, but I wanted to reaffirm that this is an exceptional show, and it's awesome that HBO's bringing it back next summer. There is so much story here.

Yeah the kids to me are just losers not so much of them trying to look different but they bring nothing to the show they are to over the top for me IMO

The idea of Tanya going on a pity date is laughable at best. She's so damn pitiful herself. Seriously, what the fuck is up with her? I know she is supposed to look artsy and what not but it just comes off as pathetic and unattractive! Ray has had sex with her the most times in the show as if he cannot do much better for himself.
