Scientists are ready to track down the God particle, or a monad, to find the foundation of the Universe. http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/2008/08/the_large_hadron_collider.html The pictures are breathtaking, it is amazing how human mind is forever and ever reaches for the answers, high in the skies and deep in the elements. I wish I could live a hundred years from now. Our children might, or their children.

Hi, Waxon, hi, everyone. Saw great fireworks above the water in Portsmouth, NH. Free parking, music on the street, kids all around. Lovely. There is a new, latest addition to HBO repertoire, a series about- guess who? A pimp! Right, it goes well together with the vampires, a certain male who is "Hung" , and instructional sex manual. A strange company for Milch's show, I'd say. The man is under a contract, so he has to deliver. I don't expect his cop show to last more than one season. Who wants to bet?

Greetings, all. I hope its safe to assume that "Last of the Ninth" won't be any more about cops in the 70's than Deadwood was a western or JFC a show about a surfing family. I feel confident that HBO is having a hell of a time getting scripts from Milch (again). They need to just give him the green light. By the way, did I see a commercial for HBO that used the term "Life Changing" for its upcoming series? (Last of the ninth wasn't one of them). I know this, if they don't hurry up with Last of the Ninth, there will be one thing in my life that will be changing - my HBO subscription. -- Edited by waxon at 07/05/2008 10:05 PM PDT

SFU and JFC were contemporary and unique and hbo should be looking forward not backward. I guess is does sound as if they are going for 'what's been done to death' instead of something more interesting like JFC which they didn't have the guts to let it ride for another season. Sounds like this station has lost its edge for the almighty $$$. It is a shame but not surprising with the mindless suits now running HBO, I just hope Alan Ball and David Milch can create something good with their style and talent.

Awesome Skor, Well put, while one could argue that Deadwood is history its not like new york cops in the 70's and another Vampire show dear God. It (JFC) had caught on by the end buts its like it was way to late by then, what really steams me is they don't even include JFC in there promo stuff, they still peddle Lucky Louie and the Comeback etc... but no JFC -- "Some things I know & some things I don't"

Hey Myles! John would say, that sounds, Butchie. I'm sure it's been discussed to death, but still, everytime I watch the first day, and hear Dickstien tell Ramon, as John goes to Butchie's room, "Try to keep that short, will you?" Everytime I hear it, I think, don't say it, don't say it! Maybe if you don't say it, it won't be true.

While I look forward to seeing what the mind of Milch produces, I can't help feeling that setting a show in the 1970s is a bit of a cop out. We know what happened then, how what we did transformed into what we are now. How much more challenging it would be to have a show that starts where we are now and helps us figure out how to forge a new path- to break free of personal/social restraints and preconceptions, to somehow access that potential within each of us to lead full, meaningful lives, to build communities from fragments, to learn to live better and love more, to forgive. But...uh...sorry,that sounds too much like JFC, and we know what happened to that show. What great ideas HBO once had and now have squandered. Now the focus is on the tried and true. How about cops! And for a wild and dangerous escape, what about something wacky, wild and totally unexpected- vampires, maybe? Oh, HBO. What you do to us! I am sure that both of these new series will be well written and engaging. But what happened to the edge, HBO? Where is the challenge in such mundane topics? Why are your best writers Waltmarting their talents? -- Edited by skordamou at 07/05/2008 8:58 PM PDT

> I feel so stupid for keeping my subscription, > thinking this show was coming back!! I finally surfed > today for season 2 to find it was cancelled. This > really stinks! Hello msrobins, Welcome to JFC, I think we all agree that "This really stinks", I'll hang on to hbo only for one reason now, the next David Milch series 'Last of the Ninth ' Being a fan of Deadwood and JFC, I want to see what he has to offer. Have you seen some of the other threads here? Very interesting writings and a lot of dedicated fans who have worked and donated their time to help save JFC. Check out http://www.savejfc.net/ and come back to talk here, new friends are our friends
