I am getting tired of jumping from one thread to another to pick tidbits of info and pertinent links here and there. This thread is established with only one purpose. Central Station, info center. Any links, info, please post here. Above the link please include short description of it. Let's try not to include a lot of personal interaction, it will distract users, complicate finding necessary information. Let's combine all info here. If you think this is a bad idea, what else you can suggest to streamline the flow of info?

You the man Myles! I'm going to start a project over on New Endeavor to connect with viewers of the show in the UK and get them over here to talk to us as they are watching the show... Cool idea huh. -- Work here, Cass.

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/2008/10/hbo_vampire_drama_heads_to_fx_uk.html HBO vampire drama heads to FX UK * Published: 01 October 2008 16:57 * Author: Will Hurrell Fox-owned digital channel FX has strengthened its relationship with HBO by buying the UK rights to two more dramas from the US cable channel behind The Wire. FX UK has secured the first two series of True Blood, adapted by Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball from the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. The genre-spanning show, which started in the US last month, stars Anna Paquin as a telepathic waitress who falls in love with a vampire, played by British actor Stephen Moyer. The 12 x 60-minute "surf noir" drama John from Cincinnati, from NYPD Blue and Deadwood creator David Milch, follows a family whose banal existence is turned upside down by the arrival of a stranger. Despite a high-profile launch on HBO straight after The Sopranos' finale, the mystical drama lasted just one series in the US. The deals follow FX UK's purchase of the UK rights to Generation Kill, the latest HBO project from The Wire's creators, David Simon and Ed Burns. The 7 x 60-minute series is a first-hand account of a group of US Marines' march into Iraq during the second Gulf War. The channel will also show the pair's earlier 6 x 60-minute series The Corner, previously shown on E4. -- Work here, Cass.

> JFC on FX in UK > Great find! They will let you post comments below the article so this is what I wrote: Can’t say enough for this show! We love this show so much we call coined the phrase “Monad-istas” because the word “fan” just doesn’t do us justice… What does “monad” mean? Watch the show. And come join us on the HBO.com bulletin boards at: http://boards.hbo.com/category/John-Cincinnati/700000011 This is such an interesting show and we have lots of great information and insights to share with you… -- Work here, Cass.

This was also interesting: Fans of True Blood may want to start worrying. With 1.44 million viewers, the premiere of HBO's Louisiana vampire drama had half the viewership of the first episode of John From Cincinnati on the network a year ago. (Of course, that one followed the finale of The Sopranos.) from: The Remote Island But then the question is- did following "The Sopranos" help or hurt JFC? A case could be made either way, I suppose... -- "Laugh or go crazy..."

Look at this! JFC will be on FX in UK beginning November. How do these things work- what does it mean for the series to be shown on on another network? Do they "borrow" or buy the rights? Could it be a teeny tiny glimmer of hope? Does anyone know more about this? I don't have a clue what it means. JFC on FX in UK And I really liked that "TV Spy" said this: From the snippets we’ve seen so far, this quirky, hard-hitting series looks pretty damn good. -- Edited by skordamou at 10/11/2008 10:13 AM PDT

http://trrishp.blogspot.com/2008/10/bloody-well-right.html The author is talking about many things - politics (she is a Dem), abortion "Think abortion is murder? Then please, share your views about why but don't freakin' legislate it. I had an abortion in my early 20's. I would be hard-pressed to ever recommend one to someone else - I think it is a harsh way to deal with a pregnancy and if I had to do it over again, I would have chosen differently. But I will never vote to make it illegal. A great anti-abortion campaign would be "Get educated about your choices. You live with your decision for the rest of your life." She has MS, and talks about her fight with the insurance company, etc. And here is the quote about JFC. I loved it. "The failures of Wall Street at the moment don't make me feel any better or worse about myself. I feel for people who are struggling, whoever they are. (Unless they are the one currently pissing me off!) In the end, we are all humans. We are not perfect. But we always think everyone else should be (like me and the Lafayette Democrats). It's hard to stop judging everyone else's imperfections. I caught a glimpse into how God - the Universe - the Divine might actually view us in the HBO show John From Cincinnati. I watched the DVD's recently of its one and only season. I love that show. It reminded me that what I call God (you don't have to), views us with love, not judgement. God wants us to heal, and to succeed in loving. For those of us that grew up believing that God was a mean, nasty judging thing, and that the job of parents is to criticize, it's an interesting concept to think that maybe that isn't the case. I have learned to love God, although I don't love religion. I have tried to choose nurturing vs critical parent whenever possible in my own parenting, but I don't always succeed. Having a teenager makes that harder than ever. She just wants, wants, wants and wants and rarely gives. I know it is a stage. I know that somewhere in there is the little girl I used to know. Some days, however, it just isn't fun. I think a reason I'm not a complete failure is that I have had some angels visit me along the way. And by angels I mean a few human beings who wandered into my life who've made an extreme difference. "

This is a daily conversation we have in this house. I would miss Bill, but he's there on you tube anyway.... Showtime looking pretty good. Caught a look at the new Vampire thing on HBO, not sure about that. Honestly, I didn't watch much, the acting was bad, but I was jumping in in the middle, so, will give it a chance, if the rest of the acting is as bad, I am sure HBO will keep it. I mean, they can't go cancelling the good and the bad and have any reputation at all, you know?

http://harrytournemille.blogspot.com/2008/09/television-to-look-forward-to-this-fall.html "C'mon folks, it's not all bad. Not everything that comes out on the glorious idiot box has to be about narcissistic celebrity has-beens reveling in drug rehab or scrawny, pseudo-glamorous housewives and their fabricated beauty. We can escape the horrifying nose-jobs, the 200 calorie-a-day diets, the story lines that offer absolute meaninglessness. Good shows abound. I've had my reservations about HBO in the past, mostly because they're too chickenshit to see a story through to completion. Too many great pieces have been snipped: Deadwood and John From Cincinnati to name a couple, all due to whatever perceived ratings not being reached. So maybe I should move on to Showtime instead." Back, give the guy some credit for calling Milch a "wild and holy spirit". I am not sure he watched JFC though, simply because the paper he writes for is in Scotland. Perhaps he based his conclusions on some second hand info. What's noteworthy, is the immediate reaction from Jim Beaver. I wonder if he has Milch, Deadwood and JFC alert on, as we do. That's the only way I can explain him posting his comment so quickly after the original article.

http://www.sundayherald.com/arts/arts/display.var.2436824.0.0.php Some drivel from this fool That side of his nature was perhaps responsible for him pulling the plug on Deadwood after three years because he had fallen in love with a new idea: John From Cincinnati, a metaphysical drama about a family of washed-up surfers visited by an alien. It was one of HBO's biggest disasters, cancelled after just one series. I was about to comment, but Jim Beaver beat me to the punch: Re David Milch: You err in stating that David Milch chose to abandon "Deadwood" for a new idea, "John From Cincinnati." "John From Cincinnati" was a pilot project in the works a year before "Deadwood," and Milch was furious at having "Deadwood" canceled before its run was finished. As one of the most expensive hour dramas in television history, "Deadwood," I believe, represented a critical goldmine but a financial burden, and I believe HBO felt that giving "John From Cincinnati" the go-ahead instead the final "Deadwood" season would give the network a David Milch show that was much less expensive to produce. From a business standpoint, that must have seemed tempting. But then "John" ended up costing nearly as much, without the critical acclaim. As an actor who starred in both shows, I can attest that David Milch NEVER gave up on "Deadwood" until it was pried from his hands beyond reclamation. To claim that it was merely some form of artistic ADD is to do great disservice to a man I believe to be quite likely the one true genius in television's past fifty years.
