I don't know about anyone else but I found that I'm still mad as hell. I do think that programming has finally taken a turn for the better with True Blood. What is your view of HBO now? -- If you can't laugh.... Either you suck or your lips are stuck together.....

I don't know if she's pissed, but doesn't she give off a slight hint of 'John' here... Johnny Get Angry

Don't worry Skor, You're not out of the loop, the simple fact is that this show is terrible. I really tried to find something positive about it but it was not funny, not entertaining and is depending on using nudity and profanity to attract viewers. Given JFC had alot of profanity but it was used artfully in the dialog. There is absolutely nothing artful to the wrting of this dog. I imagine HBO will be announcing next week that they'll picking the show up for a second season.

It's just not the same since you've gone away and I've been holding in these Lions jokes for months. If I gotta keep 'em inside any longer I'm gonna burst! Hopefully one of these evenings I'll catch you online.

Now here?s an interesting plot line. A not so young athlete, once a star at the top of his game loses his way through overindulgence in the trappings of fame, alcohol, drugs, etc., but through a series of trying circumstances and coincidences has a chance to pull his life together. Throw in lots of strong language, a familiar character the Deadwood series and what you have is?. HBO?s newest series, ?Eastbound and Down?. OMG- how could you do this, HBO?? Last night- from pure inertia- I watched the premiere. It left me feeling old and out of the loop, I almost cried when I saw Sol Star (John Hawkes) smiling through role of his pathetic character. Yes, it has just begun and perhaps-could it be?- there will be a deeper message revealed as the series progresses. Somehow I seriously doubt that. The laughs are just too cheap, the characters too shallow, the writing of the straightforward snappy sitcom variety. The anti-Milch. Maybe I just don?t get it. Maybe I just don?t want to get it. But the truth is that I have not only NOT SOFTENED I am saddened and disgusted by HBO?s pandering to the shallow, material driven inanity that passes as a bid for the youth demographic. The networks are FILLED with this crap, why oh why must HBO follow and not lead?

Yes, I am still pissed at HBO for killing JFC! HBO just seems to continue to shoot for the bottom of the barrel and is bound and determined to attract the lowest common denominator of an audience. I've yet to see anything more than a 15 second clip of their new show Eastbound and Down but those 15 seconds have showed me that all HBO is interested in, is the dumbing down of America. Maybe I'm rushing to judgement but Will Farrell is one of the stars, need I say more? What happened to the network that offered thoughtful and entertaining alternatives to the mindless garbage available on regular network TV? I didn't subscribe for the maybe one or two decent movies per month or to get sexual advice from a porn star. I subscribed for the quality series like JFC, The Sapranos or Deadwood. It's been almost two years since HBO has produced any decent original programming. I guess the network suits think there's more money in shows that appeal to the sub 60 IQ crowd. As Dave Chappell said' "It's not HBO, it's just regular fucking TV". It is truly a shame what has become of one of the few networks that did not insult their viewers intellegence. They are no more. RIP HBO

VwV... In my opinion Milch uses very crude speech to emphasize that the people who start the mining camps were the lowest common denominator of the population of that time. The type who have nothing to loose but everything to gain. These people are more likely to take a risk. I don't want to sound like a social snob. It's just how I see it. -- FU HBO

> I don't know if I should be amazed, suspicious or > greatful that 2 people on the same day made my thread > one of there first posts..... just odd. But besides > that Welcome to the JFC boards... > > -- > FU HBO I just noticed your sig. LOL Funny Jimmy. Well those 2 posters wern't privy to the inside stuff unclemajohn had provided here, but at least they saw the potential of the show. The truth is, is that the show was a thinking mans show and sadly most folks don't want to have to do that when watching their television programing. I will say that I had never appreciated Deadwood until I had fallen in love with John because all I ever heard was "cocksucker". Of course there is a lot more to Deadwood than "cocksucker", but one must pay attention to get it. Milch is superior when it comes to getting viewers out of the box if they let him. Poo poo to HBO for not getting on the long board. -- "Let me out! I want to do somethin bad." Jessica
