Hello Everyone! Guess, I bragged to quickly in regards to Faith "Acing" her Canine Good Citizen Test. She did NOT pass. Have a couple of areas to work on with her... I was disappointed at first, then I learned rarely does any puppy pass this test! They must be 6 months old in order to qualify but age does not make your dog pass. Miss Faith loves people, n really loves those she knows. If she's met you 1 time... Consider yourself known and a friend of hers. She made a decision during the test to jump up, and greet one of the instructors of the class ... in the phase walk through a crowd of friendly strangers. As it happened there was not a single stranger among that crowd all of them were Faith's FRIENDS! lol She was distracted and just flat did not want to co operate that evening. The week before during the practice run she ACED IT no problems whatsoever! ??? We will retake the test this summer when the Humane Society offers it again. We are still working on working in a crowd of people, strangers ... are simply that just strangers. She leaves them alone.... it those that she knows and feels are part of her pack.... "Now, Mom these people are fair game." I've been really busy with trying to get this house in shape this spring... so much more to do. Shampooing carpets (check) all but one room left to do. Wash and iron the curtains: NOT DONE! lol Plant the garden: NOT DONE- it was and is knee deep in water the same evening it was tilled. Now it will have to be re-tilled. Thank goodness. for a friend named "John" he is very helpful... No real new.. news... trying to keep myself busy. Missing the sunshine after an entire week of rain. My 1/2 brother past away this week.. colon cancer that went to the liver. It's been a trying difficult week. Miss you all very much. I will not be able to attend the retro with ya'll but I'll be with you in spirit. Love to all... -- Living in the present moment with happiness, awe and no worries as the future. Hideedo ya'll Sorry for the delay in updates. We have been so busy preparing for Faith's Canine Good Citizen test. She should pass it with flying colors... just as long as a bird doesn't fly by and distract her. Heel.... great on lead; doing gr8 off lead in the house. (I haven't had her off lead outside yet.- got to instill a few more commands before I attempt that.) If I drop the lead she comes straight to me. Sit... excellent Stay- She will stay in sitting position while I walk down the hall enter a different room, come back and release her from stay. Her least favorite! Down- her favorite. Leave it- she will but balks at times. Drop it= depends on her mood. Car rides- much better... she's going to one of those dogs that has to stick their heads out the window. Ears flop in the wind. So cute. Sit stay for a stranger to approach. Good, still working on this one until its great. Down-stay- needs work. I need Deer Antlers.. they make the best teething, and chewing aids for teething. She has almost chewed all the way through her first on. It has a perfect curve shape that fits perfectly on the back tooth she's cutting. Watch me/ look at me... is getting much better. Faith is so full of personality. Bossy, shy, demanding, sweet, loving, and a complete dork at times. Everything depends on her moods. She tries to fight (not fight) but gets tiffed if Mother sits on the couch. She believes that's her couch and she should not have to share it with her Gigi! (Great Grandma) Finally the link to some new photos: Faith 3-18-09 & 4-4-09 Her favorite stuffed animal is a Curious George from Ringling Bros Circus. She know several toys by their names. I could use some help with her on retrieving or picking things up. She will fetch.. but doesn't understand what I'm saying sometimes. Well I've rambled enough.. Good night and sweet dreams. If you need me send me a message on Myspace or Facebook... I'm normally around. PS: Tera my oldest daughter got married a week ago today. Off to edit the photos and upload a few of those too..,. Much love and hugs to all Chat -- Living in the present moment with happiness, awe and no worries as the future. The present moment is all we have! Tammy aka Chatangel

PS: To 74rn The clicker arrived today... we learned to crawl tonight with the aid of the clicker! Thanks for the tip. I didn't like all that bribing with food each time I wanted her to sit, down, leave it, drop it, etc and off. hey, chat... glad to hear that Faith's training is going well and your knee is improving.. Faith is lucky to have a seamstress for a "Mom".. You can also keep the clicker handy and use it to "mark" something that she does if you want her to do it again.. next time mark the behaviour with a click and give it a name or a hand signal sometimes that's easier than trying to train them the "old-fashioned" way..

Hi! Not much news but wanted to post to say Hi ya'll... and let ya know me and Faith are thinking of ya! Faith's crate arrived yesterday, Amazon had them on back order... I decided to make a custom mattress and sheet for the crate, when it arrived for measurements because I did not have a pattern to use. Faith had to be bribed with her candy (doggie treats) just to enter the breeders crate; that had a square of carpet in the bottom and a pillow thrown on top of the carpet.... This crate has double doorways. Faith seems rather fond of the side entry, I leave it open during the day. Today is the first time she's entered it to nap! She sat patiently beside me the entire time I was sewing the mattress and sheet. Once I finished the mattress I laid it in my lap, asked Faith to come up. She rolled, and rubbed her face all over that big stuffed pillow... as if she understood it was all hers. I laid it on the kitchen floor for her while I finished making the sheet cover (from an old fitted sheet) I finally decided that making it like a pillow sham would be best .. because this way nothing she could chew through or take off while in the crate. Faith had already destroyed Bitzy's store bought mattress pad on or about the fifth day here at the house. She ate or chewed that zipper right off, and then the batting went flying everywhere before I knew it! We're both thrilled with the outcome of her new bedding. (We have matching sheets.) Wed Obedience class was more heeling, sit, stay, right turn, left turn and turnabouts... All is going great thus far. My knee feels much better, still a bit swollen. I canceled the MRI because the pain seems to be fading, and able to bear weight more each day. PS: To 74rn The clicker arrived today... we learned to crawl tonight with the aid of the clicker! Thanks for the tip. I didn't like all that bribing with food each time I wanted her to sit, down, leave it, drop it, etc and off. -- Living in the present moment with happiness, awe and no worries as the future. Awww Tammy, I'm so glad to get the update and the progress report! I can just see her, looking at you wondering why you just decided to lay down... she's a beaut. I hope the knees get much better soon, but I understand, I'm slated for a series??? a series of MRI's on my back. Let me know how that goes? Yes, Josh is becoming ready. It was that Butchie kitten who came in the back door that started his process, then came John and Cass. John is the kind of cat that sticks out, everyone loves him. And he loves Josh. It's like he was sent, also in the back door with his sister Cass, and right into Josh's heart. Butchie went back wild with Kai, I'm sorry to say. But pretty true to Butchie form. This is a John healing without a doubt. And this is the perfect thread to post this on! Really good to see you Chat -- A lonesome high, a funnytime cry, the blues the blues the blues Cissyyost

> Killer's loving the snow we just had here! > But it melted quickly! > > Hope you're getting around better.. Snow.. oh NO! We've just had 3 days in a row with temps about 70 degrees here! When will you thaw out, or have the spring thaw? Our old timey March Flowers are n full bloom the Bradford Pear Tree's started popping open yesterday! 74, I hope spring arrives soon for you and Killer too. Looks as if I'll be having an MRI on my right knee. Seems not to be able to "lock" and bear all my weight. But the soreness is leaving each day. (thank goodness). -- Living in the present moment with happiness, awe and no worries as the future. The present moment is all we have! Hi Ya'll! How is everyone? An update on me and Faith. Our classes started on Feb 25th, Mother and I attended the first night without Faith. This was a people only class.? Guessing they had to get us ready for our obedience! We watched a power point presentation and a couple video's on how to teach the dog to sit, find it here commands and working the long line. Sit: self explanatory (place treat just over dog's nose, dog backs up and sits down). She knew this one already. Find it- Here.. throw a treat. dog goes and eats it.. say Here Dog come eats another treat and gets rewarded. Good Dog! Long Line: Teaches the dog to follow you and by example or dragging the dog. (Uses a long nylon line... person does not speak to dog, walks a triangle pattern, stops at each of the points for a few seconds, then continues to the next point on the triangle.) Faith being a collie I really didn't or don't have a problem with her following me.. BUT for homework's sake I attempted this dumb ass thing one more time... to end up on the ground. Remember I said the person does not speak to the animal just walks. Faith thought I was playing. I jerked on the lead just like they said to.. well Miss Priss jerked back and pivoted in the other direction... the fight was on...when she weaved I bobbled to the ground with a hard smack to both knees .. Landed with both legs bent under me and flat on the back on my head. I knocked myself out for a few seconds... When I could get up of course Faith was scared...and would not COME! I am so thankful she didn't blot! She had to be thinking to herself hum.. "My Mom has never been on the ground before?" So get up and I hobbled over to her and came back in the house. My knees were on fire... But they worked thank goodness, after sitting for about 5 minutes or so my right knee started swelling (water on the knee). Well I can say this much I do not bounce the way I did when I was a kid.... I didn't know ... it was possible to have so many places any one human could hurt... EVERYTHING, muscle, bone etc hurt like the dickens.. even my fingers hurt? I went to the doctor's office on Thursday had x-ray's of my right knee and pelvis nothing broken but feels like everything is. (It'll be a week ago tomorrow). Still very sore and tender but making it better each day. lol How on earth I managed to take Faith to last weeks class is beyond me and what a distant blur! This week we're SUPPOSED to be working on Heel: (not much of a problem with a collie since they want to be next to your leg unless playing or going to potty.) Stay: Come Fore: (I do not understand this one yet) no vocal command to the dog) something to do with heel & stay. Remember readers, this class was a blur (just the evening after my fall). Down: Easy one (Faith was the only dog in class that already knew this command! Yippie).. We had a real good work out this afternoon and evening due to the 70+ weather! But will continue with the basic technical stuff...until I feel less sore. The Humane Society will certify Faith as a Canine Good Citizen.. When we pass the test at the end of the class. Faith's personality is that of a goof ball ball, she brings me so much joy. My sincerest apologies for not posting more than I have Faith being as young as she is, she demands my time and attention. As for service work thus far... she gets my shoes out from under the bed for me when we are going somewhere or if she needs to go outside. She has also learned to retrieve toys, balls etc... and enjoys playing "get it...or find it".. She has 3 favorite toys... and will bring or find each of the toys by name. Get your ball, she brings her ball. Get your doll etc. I hope to shoot some new photos of her soon. (She really hasn't changed all that much). Still has her X & O's the Monad seems to be fade, and reappear on her side. PS: Cissy, Great news about Josh and him wanting another dog! That really brings a smile to my face to know that he is ready to open his heart again to another animal. It's sheer bliss in my opinion! I love you all!
