We all know the time and emotion that Tammy has been putting into the search for her lost Bitsy. It has also been a very expensive search- ads for the paper, posters, gasoline, etc.-and I think it is time we gave our Angel a little bit of help here. I was thinking that one collective effort might be to make sure that all vets in the region have a wanted poster with color photo. We could divide up the names of all vets (and? any other professionals?) and then each of us could download, print and send photos with a short letter (to be made available here).These are raw thoughts, I am still on the road and will be for awhile yet, but wanted to get the ball rolling with this- let's pool our ideas, let's see what we can do!!

This thread started by our Dangr, a DJ, father of five, applied mathematician and a great friend, shouldn't be archived.
There are many worthy causes we, as a group, could help, be it saving the turtles (as Trishah's excellent post urges), or gorillas, or Everglades, or - you can add to ever increasing list of life hot spots. Place here what you think is a call for help.
It doesn't have to be impressive in numbers, if one or two of us do a little bit, we won't save the world, but one turtle may live longer. I have a friend, a midwife, she has a phrase on her office wall. It says "Changing the world one baby at the time".
I love it.

Also check with local organizations that might be collecting items to send to people in need. I'm going to a Red Cross benefit party next weekend.

I just watched Weeds on DVR and at the end of the episode Mary-Louise Parker and Elisabeth Perkins asked the viewers to help residents of California who were affected by recent fires.
I think they mentioned Santa Clarita area, but that is not important where the help needed, it just needed in Southern California.
I am asking everyone who contributed to the Our New Endeavor fund, if we should send some money from this fund to So.Cal Red Cross?
I will gladly give my share to this cause.
That to me would be living in the spirit of John.
If anyone wants to join me, please, answer.
