Hi everyone, nice to see you all. I am so glad you are enjoying True Blood! It's really nice that the books, the Sookie Stackhouse books, are so entirely different from the Alan Ball production. This is my first Alan Ball. I know. My shrink, used to tell me to watch his stuff, especially Six Feet Under. It's a great treat, his work is. -- A lonesome high, a funnytime cry, the blues the blues the blues Cissyyost

On the other hand, not only have I been enjoying In Plain Sight with Paul Ben Victor, but in the last episode I watched, Dayton Callie made a brief appearance. However, Steady Freddy and Palaka were not on screen together. But still ... -- O-< Primum non nocere. O-< -- Edited by Ecclesfan at 07/03/2009 1:21 PM PDT

Of course, as a Milch/Deadwood fan, I'd like to see more Sheriff Bud Dearborn. One of the things I'm enjoying about the writing is the way I'm moved to change my mind about some of the characters. For example, I could not abide the newly made vampire Jessica until this past episode which gave us a chance to perhaps change our minds. It's fun when that happens. -- O-< Primum non nocere. O-<

Weeds: "Fortunately, my body is a toxic pit." ~ Celia, explaining why her captors didn't harvest her organs. Jenji is giving us what seems to me a sort of hip, morality tale/comedy, and doing it so well. Nancy keeps digging herself in deeper and deeper. I am totally enjoying the series, and last Monday's episode had me laughing out loud even more than usual. -- O-< Primum non nocere. O-< -- Edited by Ecclesfan at 07/02/2009 9:43 AM PDT

And the scenery was pretty > good, too! > I've gone camping on the Gaspe. It is lovely. On this recent vacation, I drove with friends who were heading to their summer home in Nova Scotia. We spent one night in Indianapolis, one night in Syracuse, and one night in Boothbay Harbor on the way. It's funny that you should mention the convenience store (or depanneur ). I noticed exactly the same thing: fresh bread, fresh rolls, veggies. I mean, you can actually walk in to a convenience store and find something healthy to eat. I myself found date squares for sale. We don't have those in Flyover Country to the best of my knowledge. Canada is a fun vacation spot. The US dollar is still strong (sort of) there, the people are friendly, and things are just different enough to make you feel like you're in the midst of a foreign and more European culture, which you are. Even though I'm from there, I still enjoy simply walking around noticing small differences. I didn't smoke any Cuban cigars on this visit, but I did eat fresh mussels, shad, and lobster, and enjoyed some fish cakes. Also, I rejoiced mightily as the quality of "fish & chips" improved immensely just as soon as we hit New England. Fun. -- O-< Primum non nocere. O-<

Hey Miles, it is always good to see you to my brother. When I saw your name on this thread, I thought, now he's talkin to me! And I do too get to bitch about the bloody weather! 104 stands right up to Jimmy's numbers, most of the time anyway. Eccles, I have been meaning to tell you, I still follow you whenever you post on the Deadwood politics threads. I like the way you think.
