Already a fan of the three series from the UK, I cannot wait until the premiere of Little Britain USA. If you're delighted by the offensive, thrilled by the grotesque, and fascinated by the obscure, you'll probably love this show. If you moan about your dead husband Ivor, or if you go to a shop with something VERY specific in mind, you'll probably love this show. Regardless of your age, sex, race, orientation, or weight, you'll be absolutely intrigued by this little bundle of joy from across the pond.

I think this show is great! I am trying to find out when the second season will start. I have heard nothing. I certainly hope HBO doesn't make the same mistake they made with Lucky Louie and take this very funny and entertaining show off the air. In fact, if they cancel this and bring back Summer Heights High, I may smash my television. This is a different type of show and it may take most (closed minded) people a bit to warm up to it, but it is very funny. Bring it back and let's get to that second season already!

I totally agree with you. I love this show. The way that it was presented in commercials didn't appeal to me at first and it wasn't until I caught the show on OnDemand that I watched the first 4 shows and wanted more! I think HBO should give Little Britain a try.

well you might have a point but men dressing up like women just isnt funny to me....and im not a fan of British comedy. I watch "who's line is it anyway" and love the American version but the British one blows.....they just arent funny. and im sorry but Borat was on the dumb side and the Ali G show was painful to watch.

People slammed 'Ali G in da Usaaiii' on HBO forums, that is, the few who even bothered to post, then Borat was released on the big screen and all of a sudden, Sacha Baron Cohen was hailed a comic genius and 'Borat the Movie' became a phenom. It even won a Golden Globe. The execs at HBO must've been kicking eachother in the ass and wondering where they made their mistakes and why they jumped the gun and cancelled the show only after a second season. Now here comes Little Britain USA, another famous British comedy that HBO has picked up and repackaged in hopes to be equally as popular with American audiences. They shot most of the show in Wilmington, NC, the boys came up with new characters, most of which were American. The show aired, and here we are again, just like 'Da Ali G show', the forums are empty and those who do bother to post have panned the show as completely unfunny and a pain to watch. How tragic and yet fitting would it be if HBO listened to the haters, dropped the show after only one season, then Matt and David took their comedy to the big screen and became a nation-wide success, ala 'Borat'? So where has HBO gone wrong? Should they really give up on this show so easily? I don't think so. I think Little Britain USA has potential, as do the two comedians who play the characters. I think the major problem with this show is that Matt and David are trying to do much with too little time. They're trying to shove too many characters into six, thirty-minute episodes, and what is happening is the show is becoming too clustered and the really funny characters aren't given the time to shine. I mean, look at Daffyd Thomas (sp?), the 'only gay in the village'. The character was one of the funniest in the original UK show, and now that the US-show is nearly finished with its first season, we've only seen him once. Bing Gordon, the 8th man on the moon, was one of the funnier new characters. We've only seen him twice. Also, the closet-homo gym-buddies, also 2 funny new characters, have only had two small skits in the last five episodes. Phyllis, the 'crazy bitch' dog owner, is probably the funniest new character but two episodes had passed before we even saw her again. Instead, Matt and David are trying to do too much in the terribley short time they have to convince American audiences that this show is worth watching. The little fat girl who always says 'I love you more than...', just isn't funny, and she seems to be on every episode. Ditto with the gay British Prime Minister, who is funny in very small increments, but Matt and David simply over did it, taking up too much time in each and every episode with this character. Futhermore, there are alot of random skits that went nowhere and just filled up valuable time on the show (e.g. the two bank robbers who can't seem to get it right, the Starbucks robot, the marketing group for itchy ass ointment) These skits weren't funny at all, and they wasted valuable time where they could have shown us more of the funnier characters such as Phyllis the dog owner or Bing Gordon the 8th man on the moon. Finally, Vicky Pollard (sp?), the delinquent girl who always says 'yeah but no but yeah' was kind of funny in the UK-version but it was because she talked in super-fast gibberish. It seems like some know-it-all told Matt to slow the gibberish down, I guess to dumb it down for US audiences, and then the joke went flat, the skits at the bootcamp entirely unfunny, and again, way too long. In conclusion, I don't think HBO should give up on Little Britain USA just yet. HBO used to be pretty good about giving shows a second-chance, and I think that given a second season, Matt and David can see what worked and didn't work with US audiences and try to pace the show a little better and give the funnier characters more of a chance to shine. Just like Borat was with from 'Da Ali G Show', I don't think HBO should jump the gun in cancelling this show so soon, just to find out later that it was truely a hidden gem that they completely missed out on.

i must admit i'm surprised by the positive reaction to this show. i'm english, living in england and literally everyone i know can't stand this show anymore and will be avoiding this series like the plague. the same characters making the same jokes every week. lucas and walliams may have came up with a few new characters but each new character will possess only a single solitary "joke" which will then be recycled for the rest of the shows lifespan.

you have a good point. it is difficult for things to translate from culture to culture. while i was living in greece they had several versions of american shows- which would often end with a girl with her top off with a confused expression. good times. hilarious! you know- a few years back john cleese- who i think it is safe to say is a comic genius, said that america was better than england in comedy presently. i am not saying i do or do not agree with this comment- i am simply saying it is unfair to lump all american comedy as crap. most american sitcoms, yes- if not all are crap. although, i love the american office- granted you just can't compete with ricky gervais. i adore him. but american political satire, i love. stephen colbert, bill maher, john stewart. you know where comedy went wrong? when writers had to worry about being politically correct. that is comedic death. watch george carlin- brilliant until he died. by the way, "all in the family" was originally a British show and it was amazing. how can one not laugh at archie bunker? i think little Britain needs to find it's way a bit- hopefully before it is dropped. there is a wealth of talent there and it would be a shame to see it end before it begins.

I did enjoy the bit where the little dog commands his master to remove all of his clothes... So did my huge dog Killer... -- He who loses control loses Det. Frank Pembleton, Homicide: Life on the Street

Janise277..I have always loved many many British shows and I love Little Britain-- all the uk series-- but like you.... this USA premier just didnt make me laugh. I even tried watching it 3 times. They must be using American writers. Why does the US ruin any sitcom they try to take over? Well besides the Office but I did like Ricky Gervais better. The UK Little Britain makes me laugh my ass off even after repeated viewings !!!! What happened. No I dont live in a trailer park .I work in finance at a major hospital and I'm not easily offended either. Also the laugh track gags me -- Edited by wandaroo at 10/01/2008 11:09 AM PDT -- Edited by wandaroo at 10/01/2008 11:10 AM PDT

My mother used to play solitaire when I spoke to her throughout my childhood. Its a serious addiction and the scars are quite deep indeed. I hope you get the help that you desperately need. Solitaire...it can be, what's the word? So lonely. I find it also helps to enjoy Little Britain if the folks in your trailer park have settled down. Not you- me. I did not mean to suggest you live in a trailer park- I am saying this is a result of a mother who played solitaire.

I have loved Little Britain for years now. I went to Canada three years ago and spent the money on a Season 2 DVD to show a friend of mine up there the genius that is Little Britain. I've highly anticipated their efforts at making a series in the U.S. I knew, I just KNEW they were finally going to give us something to laugh about. I expected offensive, funny, and loveable. I couldn't wait for it. I cheered the fellows for their success and introduced the series to many in my area. When I found out Little Britain USA was only going to be shown on HBO NOT BBC America as I expected I gritted my teeth but paid for access to HBO. I couldn't WAIT for Sunday to finally arrive and was prepared at 10:30, giggling with anticipation. I giggled even more when it finally came on. Then, well, erm, uh, yeahhhh....I made a decision: I WANT MY MONEY BACK HBO! This series is utter crap! It's not that it's too offensive for my American sensibilities, I live with a Brit. Every day I hear far worse about America and its society than Little Britain could dream up. It's not that I don't get the jokes, because I do. I simply could not force a laugh. As hard as I tried I could not find any bit of humor in the premier episode. It fell horribly flat and left me cold; more than anything it left me bored. This should tell you just what I thought of Little Britain USA: I played solitaire on my laptop for most of the episode. I plan to watch next week's episode. I hope they tried a little harder to actually be funny.

I'm a huge fan of British comedy from Pythons to Green Wing and was looking forward to the American treatment of Little Britain. I'm sorry HBO has chosen to impose a very intrusive laugh track on a show that clearly is funny enough without it. I thought common practice in regard to filmed, one-camera comedy had grown beyond this sort of post production prodding of the audience. Sorry, I won't be watching. It's just plain annoying.
