R, Good to "see" you , too. Yes, I know it is going to be a long and ugly campaign, but I expect better out of Bill Maher.

HBOSabrina

Hi I came here and registered today because after years of watching Bill from his old show to lastnight's show, I was dumbfounded by the lack of balance last night and how Bill just let the Republicans spew all kinds of lies and never challenged them on any of it. I actually had to turn it off.

Very disapointing!

Last night the guest Republican from Georgia uttered several lies about Barack Obama ... old, tired, lame, refuted web trash talk (pledge of allegiance, etc.)

It would be good if Bill issued a correction to these falsehoods by Mr. Kingston on his next show.

Snopes.com has dealt with this in the past, as has Senator Obama. Links to this information are at :

and

Thanks, and keep up the good work !

Sincerely,
PortlandRey

Wow, great to see you. Long time.

Expect much worse from the Republicans as the campaign moves forward. It's funny, I'm listening to conservatives who are actually expressing feelings approaching sympathy for Hillary. Can you imagine? LOL

Who woulda thunk it?

Hello, all! I'm new to the Bill Maher discussions, although I am a long time HBO member and (practically) charter member of The Sopranos boards. Hello to Raindog and my other old friends from over there. I came to this board for the first time today because I was outraged that Bill let the Republican on his show last night get away with slurring Obama about not saying the pledge of allegiance and referencing the picture which is simply taken out of context. I wanted to see if I was alone and am relieved to see that I am not.

I'm new but have lurked here on and off for a couple years, mostly to see what former members of a different board were up to.

I'm a left wing girl bringing her ultra right wing pal aboard. We are refugees from a now sybil world seeking honest debate. Be nice to him cause he's quite smart, eloquent, and charming and I adore him.

CapableGirl I kind of agree with you about last week's show. Bill is sounding "Faith based" with some of his comments, which makes the irony alarm sound off red alert! Not sure if his lifestyle would fight off the Bubonic plague, but anytime Bill wants to handle some snakes he and Tom Cruise should do an HBO special together.

I am not new, but it's been a very long time since I was active on these message boards. Maher has a great show, and I love to hear the Liberal point of view (trying to keep an open mind).

Bill holds the weak kneed Democratic congress accountable for not ending the war and supporting GWB every time he asks for money. I admire that over the other Dems who let their elected officials get away with being weak.

I'm new here and appreciate the opportunity to voice an opinion. I also enjoy reading others' opinions and comments. First, I'm a Bill Maher fan. Second, I miss "New Rules." And last, I was quite put out with Bill's comments about the use of medicines and how it's somehow the ill person's fault that they need medicine. If Bill had the opportunity to see my 8-year-old daughter violently vomiting once or twice a week, as she battled horribly painful migraine headaches (unfortunately, her migraines seem to have intensified in her, rather than the quarterly episodes that I and her grandmother, my mom, have endured in our lives), he might either be able to better diagnose her illness with his vast medical knowledge and experience, or he just might change his mind. If you ask her, she will tell you that occasionally experiencing blurred vision is a no-brainer compared to regularly experiencing excruciating pain. I could go on with a story about Tourette's, but I won't. Suffice it to say, I find myself less interested in what Bill has to say about other things now that I've heard him go on such an ill-informed tirade.

ALSO, on this forum, i did find it amusing that we can't have our own avatars?? It makes it easier to find your own comments and any responses in threads if you have an avatar you can recognize!!!

what's up with that?

T.V. is overrated...Newspapers is where its at...and if AngryDan adds anything, he's probably on to something
