Time Square Bombing

Do you believe the attack on the Times Square Recruiting station is a "one of" or do you think it is the beginning of violent anti-war protests like we saw in response to Vietnam?

I think it was someone that didn't intend to do much harm. If they wanted to really make a statement the bomb would have been set off during the day, or inside a recruiting office that had people in it.. I am not even 100% sure that the recruiting office was the target... if it was the bomber sucked at best

I wish the terrorist would leave New York City alone. Those who live in the city, or was raised in the city, are shell shocked enough!

I haven't been back to the city since the WTC went down.
Why, because I am afraid that when I fly into JFK, and see that hole in the ground, I will freak out, and be arrested by the TSA.

And I am too terrified to even take the train to NYC. Grand Central Station is too close, and I know I will automatically start searching for the WTC, in the skyline. I know I will be disappointed and very sad that hate is destroying the city.

Where am I going to shop? The clothes in Florida are for the elderly. And, I miss Broadway, and its shows.

I was surprised to hear that many New Yorkers feel the same way, I do. We all have PTSD. Bin Laden should be happy, that we are so traumatized, that we are afraid to leave our homes.

I want protest, not more terrorism. I am praying it was not some crazy American extremist, that bombed the recruiting station. I am not into the military, but I understand it use for defense of our country. But, I do not like teens dying, for a no win situation in Iraq.

Can we all be Hippies again, and make love, not war?

Shorten away--kind of you to ask, tho.

I must say, given that every eligible male could be and was drafted against their will, that thing about Americans not being able to separate the war from the warrior, I don't buy it.

If any Vietnam vets reading this were met with animosity on arriving home, I'd like to hear it. I've asked a lot of vets about this, and not one of them said they had a bad homecoming experience, not in an airport, not in a bus or train station, not among family, neighbors, or friends.

The hostilities were certainly there btn the National Guard and protesters, a class war, imho.

Jane Fonda made stupid comments about PsOW that were blown out of proportion by the media as if average Americans felt that way, which I don't believe they did.

I thought about that for about 2 seconds, I think if it had been a terrorist strike, it would not have been in the middle of the night and not on such a small scale, and lives would have been lost - that is the goal.

Absolutely, and homelessness is on the rise again fro returning veterans. The general population has gotten better about separating the warrior from the war, and are welcoming them back home. But the government is giving them the same old schtick. It especially disgraceful after the stop loss deal.

Since it was the draft that caused violent Vietnam anti-war protests, and millions have been protesting peacefully before and since the 2003 Iraq invasion, it seems more likely this is a "one of" situation. A brain injured soldier, perhaps?

The NY Times reported this is roughly similar to the previous NYC Mexican and British consulate bombings.

Sen. Clinton speculated whether this was the act of "foreign terrorist groups", with no mention of the violence unleashed in our own house, just more denial, and finger pointing at some vague spectre.

And I loved this quote from the recruiting commander, "...there's nothing more important to us than the safety of our troops."

Oh, really?

No depraved indifference and criminal negligence by GW Bush toward soldiers returning from the Middle East?

No tens of thousands of soldiers left to suffer with an array of untreated mental disorders, ranging from depression to PTSD to severe brain damage, routinely under-diagnosed by doctors pressured by the Bush Administration to push everybody back into perpetual service, in spite of high risk of causing violent harm to themselves and others?

No surge in suicides, spousal/child abuse and murders among military families under the strain of stop loss orders?

At this point anything is possible...

It could be a show suggested - bring up fear prior to an election (honestly uncertain of which show it was, just heard it being said-i know it was this season though). In this case actually do a little damage with the expectation to sway people toward someone who has been around politics longer (someone who could pull it off or hint toward pulling it off-without damaging their face).

We've have had bomb scares and threats in Belle vernon...crates of explosives were donated to the good will. along with Guns, etc....

I have posted previously of crates of guns and explosives being lost off a train in Cleveland - suddenly their gun violence went up BUT not explosions ( the train was a CIA/gov car it happened to break down in a bad neighborhood in Cleveland fall of '07) In the surrounding states how many gun scares, bomb scares, etc...have happened since. Sounds like conspiracy but co-op is quite like that and should appear to have no link.

don't believe the hype....don't - don't believe the hype...flava flave. In New York - things haven't changed - politics has not evolved and another player doesn't rock their boat.

The only thing I have seen was a short surveillance video and I guess it was inside of some furniture or something? Just a few seconds was all I saw?

How could a guy on a bike have planted it inside the recruiting office?
